PREPARATIONMake a copy of the worksheet for every three to four students in the class and cut the card out as indicated.
TIME15 to 20 minutes
PROCEDURE1. Ask the students to work in groups of three to four.
2. Tell them to shuffle the cards, then arrange them in two lines and match up the answers.
2. Now ask the students to separate the cards into two piles base words and suffixes and shuffle the individual decks. Then spread each deck on the table face down. They are now ready to play snap.
3. Player one takes one card from each set and places it face up on the table. If the cards match e.g. design-er then the first player of the group to shout Snap! gets to keep those two cards.
4. If the cards don’t match then they should leave them on the table face up and player two turns over the next two cards so now there are four cards turned face up.
5. Players continue turning cards and shouting Snap! when two cards go together until they have used all the cards.
6. The player with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
7. While they are playing, go round to each group and check they are playing correctly.
