A careful scrutiny of the Expo subject, “Better City, Better Life”, puts in evidence the need to ponder the condition of Italian architecture with respect to the city, considering the technologies acquired by the former with time and its undisputed aesthetics. Cities must fulfill the needs of people who live in them, safeguarding a lifestyle seeking higher and more ambitious standards. The Ital-ian city rests upon a millennial history: studied, analyzed and “reproduced” in every Country and by many schol-ars, it contains a concept able to reflect the lifestyles of its age of birth, growth and expansion through the centuries. Constantly active and fermenting cities, host-ing outstanding minds and making Italy renown all over
remarks on the modern city have been reached. The initial concept is that it must assure: LIVABILITY - PRODUC-TION - MOVEMENT - MEMORYThe base of the conceptual and material construction of the exhibition will consist of fourfounding Sections form-ing its foundations and progress.These are the Sections in brief: - Pre-existing buildings : safeguard and/or recovery - Restoration- Industry and architecture - Production - Technologies for mobility – Movement- Residences, Parks environment eco sustainability and energy – Live well

The element of distinction of Italian culture and architecture that we envisage is the ability to make present what we learned from the past, by matching it to the technological time in which we live. Indeed, while all the previous statements concerning the beauty of our past and our undisputed supremacy in design are recognized, very little or no rec-ognition is given to the technologies that our Country has developed or is endeavoring to develop. What we must aim at is the notion that the Italian know-how is a hard-to-copy factor by other competitors, an ex-cellent omen for the entire Italian Industrial Sector.
