Careers

The Core Of Your Career Is NetworkingAfter you’ve created all your “self-marketing documents” and verbal presentations, you’re ready to take your job search “to the street” and begin networking. The goal is to contact people who can help you reach the hiring managers inside your target companies. Networking can be done on the phone, in person, via e-mail or even “snail mail.”

Ford Myers, M.Ed., president of Career Potential, a Haverford, PA-based career consulting firm and developer of the “New Year, New Career Power Plan to Achieving Career Success in 2006” states, “Networking is a lot simpler and less scary than many people think. You do not need to be a good ‘schmoozer’ to network effectively. In fact, the best networkers are often great listeners, as opposed to great talkers.”

And no matter what, don’t ever let-up on your networking efforts. Ninety-five percent of my clients land great jobs through their networks. It’s not worth risking those odds to NOT be continually networking! Remember: If you’re in career transition, networking IS your job. It should be the primary focus of everything you do. The quantity and quality of your networking time is directly related to the personal, professional, and financial satisfaction you’ll have in your next job.”

Who should be on your contact list? Who should you be reaching out to? The answer is: everyone you know. Everyone? Yes, everyone! Every single person alive who knows your name should be on your contact list! (The only exception is people who clearly don’t like you)!

It doesn’t matter what these contacts do for a living, or where they live, or how much power or money they have. The key is not to pre-judge people or make assumptions about who can and cannot help you. After guiding thousands of clients through the networking process, I have learned that most new jobs are secured through people who were least expected to be of help!

Let’s “de-mystify” the networking process, so it won’t seem overwhelming or confusing to you any longer. What follows is a highly-structured and purposeful approach that consistently produces excellent results! Using your Contact List to focus on the specific people to contact, here are the basic steps you’ll need to follow:

1. Build Rapport. State, “I was referred by (give name of mutual friend/colleague), or “I was referred by our mutual colleague/friend (give name), who suggested that” …. (Find some area of common interest to discuss). I’m contacting you about a career matter, but let me assure you that I am not calling to ask you for a job – nor do I expect you to even know of any job openings. Let me start by telling you a bit about myself and my professional background....

Page 7: Successful business marketing

2. State “where you’ve been” by using a Positioning Statement. This is a succinct, pre-prepared verbal statement that explains “who you are” professionally. Example: “I am a senior Financial and Operations Professional and graduate of Western General’s Financial Management Program. I have more than 15 years of experience in the Manufacturing and Services industries. My strengths include analysis, problem-solving, communication and innovation. I have specific expertise in Financial Analysis and Reporting, Cash and Risk Management, and Productivity Analysis. I am seeking a leadership position with a focus on Financial Reporting.”

3. Share “what happened” with an Exit Statement. This is a concise explanation of why you’re no longer at your previous position, or why you’re interested in leaving your current employer. Example: “As a result of a merger between two business units, over 1,500 positions have been affected, including mine. I now have the opportunity to explore other career options in Financial Services that will leverage my proven strengths in analysis, problem-solving, communication and innovation.” The Exit Statement must be expressed in positive terms, so there will be no suspicion that you “did something wrong” to lose your job.

4. Ask for help. “Would you be willing to help me?”

5. “Decompress” – take the pressure off – reassure your contact again that you are not asking for a job. Reiterate, “As I said, I am not asking you for a job, nor do I expect you to know of any appropriate positions. However, I am interested any advice or guidance that you could offer, in addition to any networking contacts you could provide. (Give name of mutual friend/colleague) told me that you’d be a great person to talk to for this purpose. Would you be willing to review some of my credentials, and give me candid feedback? I could send the materials right over.”

6. Ask again for help, i.e., expanding contact network, guidance, advice, feedback. Leverage the notion of “six degrees of separation” – ask for contacts from your contacts! And always “come from generosity.” This means you should be on the lookout for opportunities to offer something of value in return.

7. Share your main documents, and set a time to get back to them. State, “I’ll e-mail (or fax) a one-page Professional Biography and list of Target Companies to you. Then I’d like to follow-up and have another conversation – when would be better for you, Wednesday afternoon or Friday morning? I know your input will be of great value, and I appreciate your willingness to help.

Follow-up after your networking meeting and keep the conversation going with two-way value exchange. Note: if the contact is a “center of influence,” try to have your follow-up discussion face-to-face instead of on the phone, unless the contact is outside your geographic region.

It’s a smart career move to always be networking, no matter what’s going on for you professionally. If you don’t need help at this time, build-up your networking power by helping others. In general, people will want to help you. It makes them feel good about themselves.

It boosts their self-esteem to be considered “a connector” of people with opportunities and information, and it makes them feel important.” Networking is a great investment in your future, and over the long-term, it always pays big dividends!

Get Started as a Virtual Assistant EntrepreneurVirtual assistant jobs are not for anyone and everyone, but for serious people who want to make it as their profession. Becoming a virtual assistant entrepreneur can be very rewarding at the same time very much demanding too. To become a virtual assistant entrepreneur and being your own boss one need high qualification, expertise in the field and overall good attitude.

Page 8: Successful business marketing

The virtual assistant entrepreneur cannot taste success unless he works hard with dedication and perseverance, as success cannot be achieved overnight. It all depends on how good the virtual assistant entrepreneur carries out the business activity, how well he networks and promotes his services effectively.

Characteristics and qualifications of virtual assistant entrepreneurs:

Normally the virtual assistant entrepreneurs are people who have been over achievers with a good exposure to administrative tasks and skills, with a high qualification and training. Entering the profession without these would be a great mistake as the clients look for the best people in the industry.

How to get started as a Virtual Assistant Entrepreneur?

To get started as a virtual assistant entrepreneur, one has to look for high yielding projects online. Many employers post freelance projects, which need to be completed. As a virtual assistant entrepreneur you can bid for the projects. This will give an idea about the kind of projects available and what the employers look for to complete the project, so that services can be offered accordingly.

As a virtual assistant entrepreneur works from home, it is very important to have a separate work space with all the inventory of the administrative assistant’s desk to make sure the work does not get affected by distractions and to be able to do work efficiently and effectively on time.

As a Virtual assistant entrepreneur, it is good to visit other virtual assistant’s sites to get new ideas on the services you can offer, pricing can be determined on par with others etc. It is only to get ideas but not to copy, as everyone needs to be unique in offering services to have an edge over others in this competitive world.

Also, by going through the sites, the virtual assistant entrepreneur can determine other professional’s qualifications, certifications got etc. This will give an idea to improve the qualifications if necessary. Once work is got, you need to be very realistic very professional in your approach. Becoming a virtual assistant entrepreneur or being your own boss can be very demanding and at the same time very rewarding.

What the HR Manager Won’t Tell YouMost human resource managers today are limited to providing only the basics for employment verification. Fear of litigation nullifies anything that may be deemed subjective or, more considerably, litigious.

Conducting the formal employment verification will typically return little more than the date your candidate started employment, the date he left, and the position he held. You will often find yourself lacking the input needed to make an informed hiring decision. Once in awhile, the HR Manager will be adventurous and respond that your candidate was “in good standing.”

In fact, at the writing of this article, there was a radio program where the show’s commentator reinforced this principle. The commentator admonished Human Resources Personnel that there is as much a danger in providing a positive reference as there is in providing one that is negative. He went on to say it is important to keep all employment verifications as uniform as possible. He suggested providing only the start date, completion date and the position held.

Is this bare bones information enough to make an informed decision on an employment candidate? Sometimes. When the job is simple enough and no special skills are required… yes. Then all you need to know is whether or not your candidate actually worked at his previous place of employment.

Page 9: Successful business marketing

You may need to know more about an IT candidate’s technical skills, but whether or not your candidate’s last job as a pizza boy can shed any real light on his abilities is open to debate.

Because the typical employment verification yields such sparse information, more and more businesses are turning to the reference verification in order to find out more about their candidates and their respective skills. While the reference verification can have its pros and cons, for a fair number of hiring situations it’s a smart way to go.

Reference verifications can be best used to discern the skill sets of your job candidate. Recruiters will employ the reference check to determine if their candidates are qualified in special skills and experience. You may call upon references to define a job candidate’s level of IT skills, or his fluency with general and industry specific software programs. You may wish to better understand his abilities in graphic and web design, which can provide essential considerations.

As a recruiter, you may want to know more about your candidate’s networking capabilities, who he knows in his industrial sector. If he is a sales person, you may know just how well connected he is in, say, licensing product in certain geographic regions. For international candidates, when language capability is a concern, you can use the reference verification to help assess these abilities.

Of course, there are other questions you may ask in your reference verification process. You may want to know more about your candidate’s management skills or style. You need to determine if he works well with others, if he is a team player or the sort that works better off by himself. Does he show up on time? Is he absent frequently? What are the areas where he can improve?

At Corra, as part of the verification process, we ask the reference to rate the employment candidate using a scale of one to ten. Ten is the highest score. Usually, to be considered a viable employment candidate, our clients would like to see at least a seven rating. Seven and up is considered pretty solid.

Sometimes the reference gets carried away and barks out a ten. Most employers will look at this as boosterish. But there are the exceptions. If the reference is an upper level executive and qualifies his or her statement with such phrases as “I’ve been around for umpteen years and rarely have I seen someone work as well as So and So,” the employer will take it more at face value.

In most cases, the higher level ratings are a nine or nine plus. The reference will often qualify his rating with “Everyone has room to improve…”

Always bear in mind the reference that your job candidate supplies you, will be a favorable reference. No candidate in his right mind would give you references that would go out of their way to sink his ship.

Sometimes the reference may not find the candidate as favorable as the candidate would like to believe. While the reference wants to be a good person, they may also want to divulge the more negative aspects as well. There is any number of reasons for doing so. Sometimes they wish to give you a heads up. Sometimes there are personal issues. Sometimes they are just covering their butts.

The reference may not tell you directly that the candidate is tough to deal with or is someone who they would never hire again. Yet they would like to. So it is not the answer itself, but the way they answer that serves as the indicator. It’s what they don’t say or their hesitation that provides the tipoff they were less than thrilled with your candidate.

Listen for the speech inflection, the hesitation, or the reference’s struggle to find the right word or term. Sometimes they are working so hard at being diplomatic you can glean a more negative appraisal.

Page 10: Successful business marketing

Sometimes, if prodded, they will tell you a little more about the downside of your candidate. Sometimes that won’t veer from the positive appraisal, but while they don’t say it outright, there is something in the way they answer that can tell you more than they had wished. Or, they told you exactly what they wanted to say, but with plausible deniability.

It should be noted for the rare but embarrassing occasion that when you get a reference contact information, make sure they are a legitimate source.

Either insist on the business phone number as well as their cell number, or find some way to substantiate that the reference isn’t your candidate’s cousin Larry pretending he is the former CEO of Nonexistent Enterprises ready to give your candidate a really great review. Think it doesn’t happen? Think again. But then you might weigh your candidate’s penchant for duplicity against his daring and creative thinking. Just kidding.

Here are some of the questions, you may wish to use when conducting reference verifications:- Date:

- Candidate name:

- Reference name:

- Reference Title/Company:

- Company where they worked together:

- Relation to Candidate:

- Reference Phone:

- Confirm Candidate’s Title and Dates of Employment:

1) Did the candidate report directly to you?

If not, what was your working relationship?

2) What were this person’s main responsibilities?

3) a. What are this person’s strengths?

b. What are some areas in which this person can improve?

4) How does this person work with others?

5) In what ways does he/she respond to stressful (high pressure) situations?

6) Did he/she ever have a problem with tardiness or absenteeism?

7) What advice would you give his/her future manager in working with, and motivating this person?

8) Would you rehire this person? If not, why?

9) On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this person’s overall performance?

10) Do you have any additional comments that you feel would be helpful?

Of course there are variations upon the theme, so you can be resourceful in choosing reference questions to fit your company’s particular needs. Be uniform in composing these questions. Otherwise, it becomes a cumbersome process, and you can risk driving your researcher crazy. There is also the issue of fairness and how it affects the rules governing employment law. So be consistent.

Reference verifications can be a great tool for the pre-employment screening process. It can be an effective background check, when you use it wisely.

Choosing The Perfect Retirement HomeMaking the decision to move from the comfort of your own home into a retirement home is not one to be taken lightly and needs a lot of thought and preparation.

So what should be you be looking for?

Peace of MindWhether you are able to live without assistance or need extra care, you want to know that you're going to be getting the best and most secure facilities on offer to fit within your lifestyle.

Modern day retirement developments are thought out very carefully with special attention paid to detail, from the style of the property and its natural surroundings, to the distance from local shops, hospitals, transport and social aspects such as meeting clubs and restaurants.

Security entrances, 24 hour care lines, smoke alarms and lifts are generally included and designed to make you feel secure and protected. A house manager is also a reassuring presence. Whether you need them or not, from keeping an eye on your apartment to answering any questions you might have, they are there to provide assistance.

IndependenceSpecial attention isn't just paid to the local amenities and facilities outside your home. In order to live as independently as possible, you need access to everything you'd expect in your own home such as enough space for storage, right down to the types of tap fittings used and the heights of units. These small details mean that you can continue to look after yourself well into your retirement.

Assisted living is a great option for those who can maintain a good degree of independence and are well enough not to need a full time care home but need a bit of extra help. Many retirement developments offer assisted living for those that need it while still allowing its residents a high degree of independence.

ComfortTo be comfortable, you need to feel at home, relaxed and secure. This is mostly achieved by choosing a good quality retirement apartment but extras such as laundry rooms and residents lounges also offer you companionship and conversation when you want it and fully equipped guest suites for when friends or family wish to stay overnight.

CostCost of living is obviously high on the agenda for many people. While it's usually tempting to go for the cheapest option, that's not always best.

Try to find somewhere within your budget with a clear cost structure so there are no hidden costs. Various service charges including garden maintenance, water rates, the use of the care line, the house manager etc can soon add up causing a great deal of stress and worry.

You want value for money in a location suitable for you, with the facilities you need and a clear idea of what extra charges you will need to budget for. Energy efficiency should be high on the tick list too because the more efficient a property, the less costly it will be.

LocationIf you are planning to retire it usually makes sense to choose a location where you already have some form of connection. For example, some people might select a location to be near to family whilst others might select a location which is close to their friends.

Page 12: Successful business marketing

Many choose to retire to a location because of the countryside - or indeed that very popular option, to be near the sea. Many people select a location on the basis that it is the place where they feel comfortable and of course "gut feeling" may well play an important part in that judgment.

Finally, whatever grounds you might give for selecting a retirement apartment or flat it really is worth looking around to see what's on offer. One of the best places to start is by going to the largest builder of retirement homes in the UK as they have extensive resources on their website to help the retirement home hunter. Happy searching!

Business

How to Start a Successful Internet BusinessStarting your own successful internet business is not a task to be taken lightly. If you are thinking of “getting rich quick”, perish the thought. An internet business is just like traditional businesses in many aspects. It will require intelligent planning, resourcefulness, and perseverance to carry it through.

You will want to ask yourself a few questions before you begin. What exactly to do you want to accomplish by starting your own internet business? Most people want to start a home-based business because of the perks it will offer. Most people dislike having to get up in the morning at set times to go to work. Most folks also have an aversion for their bosses, and just about everyone hates traffic jams.

It’s no wonder that people want to get away from all that. Having a successful internet business is one way to avoid having to go to an office everyday. Note, however, that these benefits will only accrue to you once you have already succeeded. Before that you will have to work hard, perhaps even harder than you did on your day job. An online business is still a business, and it will call for determination on your part to make it work.

There are many ways to make money over the internet; there are many forms your online business can take. Basically, however, you will have to choose between marketing your own products and services and helping someone else sell theirs. In internet parlance, you can either choose to create your own affiliate program or join one.

Either option is a good way to make money; but several factors have to be considered before you make your choice. Take note that starting your own affiliate program will require that you have your own product line, whereas simply being affiliate will not – you’ll simply sell pre-existing products and services. The creation of an affiliate program will also require a modest amount of money.

Page 13: Successful business marketing

Online businesses, however, are not limited to affiliate programs alone. The internet also hosts a very active labor market, so if you are a specialist in some field, you probably won't find it too difficult to find a job. However, keep in mind that full-time positions over the internet are rare.

On the other hand, freelance work is plentiful and often always available. Many sites act as middlemen for getting contractors and freelance service providers together; very few charge a fee. If you feel out of depth in starting your own business, using your professional skills might be a better option for you.

Creating a successful internet business will require intelligence, resourcefulness, and hard work. If you are the type of person who gives up easily, you shouldn’t bother – you’ll be wasting your time. But if you’re an individual who likes to rise up to the challenge, someone courageous enough to take charge of your own life, then by all means, give it a shot! You never know what you can do unless you try!

Make Money on the Internet with an Online BusinessIf you're thinking of starting an online business, there are some things you should know. Any new online business has the potential to yield a high income, but not every business is for you. You can make a wise choice early on by studying each opportunity carefully to decide which new online business will bring you the income you need along with true enjoyment and fulfillment.

When seeking a business opportunity, look for ideas and products that meet your preferences. Don't settle for just any type of online business. You will likely not be happy building and promoting the business unless it's something that interests you.

For example, if you enjoy seeing others succeed then you might look for an opportunity that allows you to help others start an online business. You can build wealth while helping them do the same. If you prefer selling products such as e-books while keeping to yourself, look for an opportunity that allows you to do so. Look for a business opportunity that fits your goals, lifestyle, and schedule.

Find an Internet Business MentorSuccess doesn't appear overnight, but it can happen a lot faster when you have a business mentor. A mentor is someone who coaches you along the way, sharing their experiences and often providing you with direct guidance for starting and promoting your new online business. A mentor has already paid the dues and has been through the tough times of building an online business. They know how to make money on the Internet and build extra income using certain strategies, and they can share these with you.

To find a business mentor, explore business opportunities that interest you and seek those that offer a mentor-type relationship. Some opportunities will ask that you invest a small amount of money to get started, and then a mentor is provided to help you with all the details. The mentor may contact you by phone or e-mail, or both. They might offer tips at the start and/or continue to encourage you along the way.

Follow the Steps to Make Money OnlineOnce you find a great business opportunity and a helpful mentor, it's time to take action. You'll need to persevere in daily building and promoting to succeed. Be sure to follow the steps offered by your mentor and be diligent in your efforts each day. An online Internet business is not for slackers; it requires great detail and steadfastness to work.

Your mentor can offer steps to follow on how to start your own website, how to add content to the website, how to promote the website, and how to build a solid customer base. While new online businesses vary in many ways, these four "musts" are the basis for being successful.

Page 14: Successful business marketing

Once Established, Keep BuildingAfter establishing your new online business, it's time to start earning extra income. There are several ways to do this. You can grow your customer base with more promotions and by starting a referral system. You can add new products or services to your existing business.

Each time you add new products or services, you'll have the potential to reach a new audience as well as sell more products to your existing customers for extra income. Or, you can help others get started with a business while earning a commission on their sales as well.

To find an online business opportunity that works for you, go online to explore the possibilities. There's the perfect online Internet business just waiting for you to grab the steering wheel and drive to untold success!

Choosing The Right Website CopywriterRunning a website is not an easy job; it takes some effort to make money online. There must be hundreds of millions of webpages out there struggling to be noticed by search engines and by their target audiences. If you are a website publisher who's eager to get your brand or service in front of the right readers, it would take more than just a good logo or business concept to get them flocking to and trusting your site.

To grab people's attention and increase website traffic, you must provide something extra, something unique, something they may not find elsewhere. But the problem is, you may have so much on your plate as it is that you can't possibly provide grade-A content 100% of the time. Even great webmasters and website publishers need a little help sometimes.

If you think about it, no amount of black hat SEO or link wizardry will get you the long-term results you are really shooting for. High-quality content is what your target customers want. Skillful link building may build a lot of short- to mid-term traffic but classic content lasts a long long time. To make serious money online, you have to give your clients this content. Many website owners invest their time and money in web design and online promotions without even considering the importance of original content.

Do you really want to look just like your direct competitor -- providing a mirror-image of their services to your readers and potential clients? High-quality content, as opposed to knock-off imitations and readily available templates, is crucial to a website's success. What you need are highly capable content producers who will drive qualified traffic to your website and give it some distinction. This is what competent and effective website copywriters are all about -- producing quality content for your website and help you make money online.

But before you hire, you must ask yourself what exactly you are looking for in a website copywriter. The following guidelines will certainly help you pick the best website copywriter to help you increase your online profits:

1. Can they produce quantity as well as quality?

This is extremely important; high quality content is imperative, and so is quantity. A constant and steady amount of high-quality material is an essential ingredient for a successful online business. A website copywriter has to be able to deliver both quantity and quality to make you money. With this in mind, you must ask them for a guaranteed daily quota. You would want a lot of work done in a short span of time, but you can't possibly expect high quality with that mindset. When you ask for too high a quota you will probably be sacrificing quality. Somewhere around 2000 words a day is average.

Page 15: Successful business marketing

2. Will they be able to produce original content?

There are a lot of ways to ensure that your content is purely original. Ask the website copywriter for a guarantee that all written materials will be checked explicitly for duplicate content. To avoid plagiarism and other copyright issues, they must run their work through originality checkers such as http://webmasterlabor.com/tools/checker and http://copyscape.com/, or other reliable duplicate content checkers available to them.

Your content plays a very important role in search engine optimization. Passing off content that you can easily find in thousands of other sites won't help your PageRank or traffic at all. Original high-quality content is indeed the best way to optimize search engine results -- and a website copywriter producing original material makes it all happen.

3. Does the website copywriter have a back-up?

When you retain the services of a ghost writer for a long period of time (to produce blocks of content, for example), you must make sure that there are contingencies in place -- just in case they become unavailable all of a sudden. Having a back-up will ensure your deliverables. Moreover, you have to ask if the back-up is just as, if not more, capable than the original writer.

You wouldn't want your content quality to nosedive whenever your leased writer is temporarily unavailable. Using a copywriting company, as opposed to a single freelancer, is your best choice if delivery and quality consistency are important to you.

4. Does the website copywriter have an editor?

Some website copywriters for hire could very well be their own editors. But wouldn't it be better if they had someone to help them with errors they could overlook themselves? Editors play a key role in this process because they make sure that the writer's work is delivered on time, every time.

They check for grammatical errors, inconsistencies in flow, compliance with your instructions, and overall quality of the writer's work. Also, they function as project managers; they inform the writer of the topical and stylistic guidelines that the client requires.

5. Do they follow a quality-assurance process?

How can you be sure that you are getting materials that live up to your own standards? Would it cost you extra to send some back to the writer for revisions? Website copywriters should follow protocol as far as quality-assurance is concerned.

First, they must submit a block sample of their work to the client. Second, they make necessary revisions after receiving client feedback. This process continues until the client gets what they want. Meanwhile, the website copywriter shoulders all costs incurred during these revisions. Quality-assurance like this will only guarantee the best results in output and client satisfaction.

6. Will the writer surrender full rights of the materials produced to the client?

All materials produced by a website copywriter must be on a purely work-for-hire basis. Ideally, the client assumes all rights to the materials obtained from the writers during the length of their employment or contract. Under the work-for-hire system, copyright ownership falls on the client and not the writer.

7. Can you, as the client, set the tone or style for the articles?

You can, as the hiring party, ask the website copywriter to follow certain parameters -- specifying demographics, for instance. As the client, you must also welcome the writer's preferences in tone and style for the job.

Page 16: Successful business marketing

To be able to work efficiently, you must allow them to make any suggestion that they think would cater to your audience better.

8. Will they accommodate your format requirements?

Ask for an OS platform-neutral delivery format so your text can be published correctly. These are usually in the form of .txt or .html files.

Website copywriters who offer these services and more will promote a business relationship that is result-oriented, stable, and consistent. With the best copywriter working for you, you can sit back, relax, and leave the arduous content work to them for a change.

Writing Up Sizzling Sales Copy That ConvertsIn this article we outline the key points that you MUST incorporate into every sales letter you wield. These four factors really will make or break your sales page. Then we’ll discuss some hard-hitting sales letter tactics that I’ve used myself with explosive results. Unlike other scams these tactics actually add value to your package while increasing your credibility.

First, why even bother writing good sales copy?

Well, in an online world where your prospects are already wandering around in a state of confusion and mistrust, your sales copy is the one chance you have of establishing credibility, building trust and convincing your prospect that your product can solve the very problems that torture them day in, day out.

We Start With The Basics – AIDA- Attention- Interest- Desire- Action

It’s absolutely crucial that all your sales pages contain this powerful mix.

Attention – Your Title Can Turn Off Your Prospects Before They Even Read A Word Of Your Actual Sales Letter.

Your headline MUST create attention in your prospects minds. Get into your prospects head and ask yourself this important question:

“What is the most important BENEFIT that can solve the biggest PROBLEM/HURT that my prospect faces.”

Then put this into your sales letter headline. You need to create serious waves here – the headline must draw your prospect into the main body of your sales letter. A good headline gets them there.

Interest – Is Your Sales Letter The Life & Soul Of The Party?

Do you like talking to the dim-witted dullard at the party? What about the chattering fool who yaps away endlessly about himself? No. Neither then does your prospect want to spend time with a sales letter that’s either lacking any emotion or (going completely the other way) stuffed to the brim with pointless fluff.

To create interest in your prospects, you need to understand your products benefits and their own concerns. You need to understand your industry and what your product has that your competitors don’t.

Page 17: Successful business marketing

Like a devilish murder mystery novel, each paragraph must be more exciting than the last. As interest builds, so your chance of capturing the sale increases.

Desire – Make Them Almost Taste The Benefits & Then Make Them DESPERATE To Get It!

To create desire, you’ve got to convey the BENEFITS of your package. Go ahead and tell the prospect what they will gain when they click on the order button. What about the pain they’ll avoid? Time saved? These are things that people look for before spending their hard earned cash, and they want to know that your product delivers.

Action – The Last, All Important Word

You’ve got to urge your prospects to take action NOW. Make the order button prolific and readily available. If your product has limited availability or is a (genuine) special offer, then let your prospects know about it.

AIDA is a simple yet powerful guideline of setting up sales letters that do what they’re supposed to – convert targeted prospects into customers. Now let’s look at some advanced tactics. These, when incorporated skilfully into an AIDA based sales letter have the potential of driving your response rates through the roof.

Beyond AIDA – Strategies To Maximise Your Sales Letter Responses

I could have settled with just using AIDA to create my sales letters, and I’m sure I would have continued to do well. But would I have achieved some of the OUTSTANDING results I’ve enjoyed in more recent years? Almost certainly NOT.

Now, I’ll walk you through some legitimate tactics that I use to make my sales letters hyper-responsive. The great thing about most of these is that they benefit the CUSTOMER too – and ultimately that’s the best way of increasing your sales in the long run.

Tactic Number ONE – Limit The Number Of Licences Offered (Digital Products)

If your product is digital (eg an eBook or membership site) then consider placing a limit on the number of licences available. This benefits you as the information developer because it creates genuine urgency to purchase. If customers miss out, they’ll have to pay a higher price to get in and that’s a powerful motivator. The benefit to the customer is that the limited number of licences means they have a better chance of success if they use the private label rights content/videos etc provided.

There’s of course also a downside to you on this – limited licences mean that once your product gets to higher levels, the natural forces of price vs demand means that you’ll sell less when the product price moves up. Even so, I can tell you I put a licence limit on many of my products and it creates a frenzy of sales as people try and get in at the lowest price levels. It’s a potent order trigger.

Tactic Number TWO – Pile On The QUALITY Bonuses!

It’s true – both the number of bonuses and their respective quality can really be the “title clincher”. A platter of highly targeted bonuses that are in demand can be enough to get your prospect to buy immediately.

You can even implement the following tactics with your bonuses:- Fast action bonuses where (for example) the first 50 people to order get a bonus that everyone else doen’t.

- Time limited bonuses – where the bonuses only apply for a certain length of time or number of orders.

Page 18: Successful business marketing

Make your bonus graphics visible on your sales page and if possible link to the full sales page of each bonus. If you produce many products, avoid serving up the same tired old bonuses – it can count against you as your existing customers may begin to feel they’re missing out on the bonus experience and your repeat sales may actually suffer.

Tactic Number THREE – Free Updates For LIFE!

Customers love paying for something ONCE and getting additional value from that purchase for months and even years into the future. That’s just plain common sense, yet the vast majority of digital products that I see being offered online do not come with updates of any sort.

The beauty of this model is that as you add more and more content/resources/ related to your package it becomes increasingly attractive to new prospects. The icing on the cake is that your existing customers are delighted and that establishes further trust and credibility and that’s a very big plus.

So there you have it – a summary of writing sales pages that sell and additional sales-letter tactics that genuinely increase the credibility, value and pure WOW-factor of your packages.

How To Outsource Your Online BusinessYou're better than me at Adwords. I'm better than you at list-building. Harry Potter's better than both of us at magic. The point is, no-one can be perfect at everything and if your business is to grow beyond a mere "mom & pop store" then at some point you'll need to start delegating responsibility and delve confidently into the world of EMPLOYING people.

Someone creates your content. Someone else your website. Another markets. And you? Well you're scooping up the profits and repeating the whole process with another project. And then another.

For the internet business entrepreneur, by far the best way of hiring is through OUTSOURCING. Here's a small sample of the type of work that can be outsourced:

- Development of custom-built software & content.- Customer support.- Internet marketing.- Site development.- Graphic design.- Creation of business plans/forecasts/research reports.- Accounting.

I could go on for pages but you get the idea. While outsourcing tends to be associated mostly with huge companies it's every bit as important to the small internet business entrepreneur. Consider these advantages of implementing outsourcing into your business:

- "Saving time". Are you trying to do *everything* yourself? This may seem noble to you, and undoubtedly you ought to gain as much practical experience into how things need to be done in your business in case of emergencies. But after a time, if you're doing a lot of menial tasks then you're cheating yourself out of time you could be using to do the things that a CEO of a company should be doing to grow the business.

Do you reckon Bill Gates sits down every week to do his own search engine optimisation? No, his team handles it for him. What about you? If you can identify the parts of your business that are taking up way too much time, you can potentially seek to outsource them.

Page 19: Successful business marketing

- "Cost Effective". With outsourcing, you only pay for services as and when you need them. In a lot of traditional businesses that employ their own staff this is not so. Often, there is over-capacity so old Dave is having a nice cuppa and reading Sports Illustrated and you're paying him by the hour to do it. Not so with Outsourcing - you pay only for what you need.

Further, when you hire staff you have to deal with additional costings such as insurance and taxes. This is simply too much to handle for a small business - again, something that isn't a factor with outsourcing.

- "Let The Professionals Handle It". Certain elements of your business need to be handled by the pro's if you don't have the required skills or experience to do it yourself. When you outsource to a reliable professional, you're ensuring that the job is done right by someone who has the know-how.

So how can you get started growing your business by outsourcing? First, you need to take a long hard look at your own business and pin-point those areas that are either taking too long to complete, aren't being done properly, or aren't being done at all.

The Facts About Business OutsourcingOutsourcing of jobs to offshore companies has been a hot-button issue since the 1960s when the United States began losing automotive manufacturing jobs to Japan. In recent years, the outsourcing of technical jobs has revived the debate which became one of the top issues in the 2004 presidential campaign.

However, actual facts and statistics about the effect of outsourcing on the American economy are hard to come by. Rhetoric, not facts, dominate the discussion of whether outsourcing has an effect on the economy.

There is a serious dichotomy between the beliefs of average Americans and those of economists and other experts. For example, a Zogby International Poll showed that 71% of Americans believe that outsourcing hurts the economy but when the Wall Street Journal asked the same question of economists, only 15% felt that outsourcing had a negative effect.

Opinions on outsourcing tend to be divided by economic status rather than political persuasion. For example, some Republicans in the House and Senate believe that outsourcing has a terrible effect on the economy and that legislation should be enacted to stop it. However, conservative think tanks like the Heritage Foundation and Republicans with ties to big business believe that the threat of outsourcing has been over exaggerated.

Liberals are also divided about outsourcing. The Democratic party has traditionally been the party of labor in the United States but it was a Democratic president, Bill Clinton, who shepherded the North American Free Trade Agreement through Congress, a treaty which most experts agree facilitated the current outsourcing trend.

For every argument for outsourcing, there is another argument against it. For example, the Heritage Foundation argues that despite outsourcing more Americans are employed than ever before and that jobs continue to be created to compensate for those lost overseas.

Anti-outsourcing advocates point out that gross wages are dropping because the jobs that are being created are low-level service sector jobs, not high-tech jobs to replace the ones that are being lost.

Page 20: Successful business marketing

The Heritage Foundation, citing the Organization for International Investment also argues that for every job outsourced, another is "insourced" to the United States from another country, often at a higher rate of pay than the job lost. Anti-outsourcing advocates say that those numbers can't be accurately verified.

What is clear is that until the federal government conducts accurate research into the effects of outsourcing on the United States economy, there will be no definitive answer one way or the other.

What You Need to be a DropshipperFirst off, you will need products to sell. Be very carefull when looking for dropshipping suppliers online there are many unscrupulous people that will take advantage of you. There are a couple of rules to follow when choosing a dropshipper. One, a real dropshipper will never charge you a fee to sell their products.

Two, a real dropshipper will want proof that you are a legitamate business. They may ask for any or all of these; Business License, DBA, Federal ID (EIN), and/or Sellers Permit. A very good source of real wholesalers is the WorldWide Brands OneSource Directory. They sell a directory of REAL dropshippers and light bulk wholesalers that they have resarched for you.

Secondly, you will need a venu where you can reach prospective customers. You may want your own website or to sell your products on ebay. For your own website you will need a domain, a webhosting account, and shopping cart software. EZ Dropship Cart is a great cart for dropshippers. Ebay is also a great way to reach perspective customers, the only problem you may run into is that some manufacturers place no auction restrictions on their products.

Thirdly, you will need a way to accept your customers payments. Paypal is a fast easy way to get started, you pay fees only when you have transactions. While credit card processors offer lower per transaction fees, they require setup fees and monthly fees that are geared tword large voulme sales.

Lastly, you will have to get Legal, this is where most people faulter. They think it sounds hard, complicated, and expensive. And actually it isn't any of those. Just visit your states website to find out what you need to do business. In most cases a DBA can be used in place of a Business License. But either way most states charge around $20.00.

Some states, not all, require you to get a Sellers Permit or Resale Certificate. Either way all the resources you need should be available at you states home website, usually under a small business section. While you may not have any employees I highly recommend getting a fedeeral id. It costs $4.99 online and you get it instantly.

Beginner Steps For Crocheting For MoneyWhat follows is information that I have pulled together from many different sources. The secrets, tips, and techniques you read here are from my book "Crocheting For Beginners". I hope you find it both interesting and helpful.

Many imagine that knitted and crochet items survived in the youthful period of imperialism. A lot of communities in this era used this type of trade as their main resource of income. The crocheted and knitted goods are typically purchased by the middle class citizens.

Page 21: Successful business marketing

The History of CrochetCrochet was known to specify the status symbol of an individual from the early account. This accommodating refinement was practiced by the royalties who were capable to afford buying extravagant lace-work goods and set up the value of crochet commodities to devalue.

Numerous have alleged that knitting and crocheting was developed be means of the old practices of persons living in countries like China, Middle Eastern countries, and in South America. Many individuals find credible that crochet may have been practiced by early cultures to flex the muscles of the forefinger rather than a fashion hook. This belief was accepted by uncountable craft historians because of the absence of artifact crochet goods as evidence of its established practices.

Crochet vs. LaceIn the early 1800's, numberless European communities have used crochet goods in place of the immensely expensive lace made materials. Crocheting just requires fewer materials, and it is also extensively accepted by contrasting social classes.

From these periods, crochet was done mainly on thread. The most common universally made products from crochet were filet crochet made in rows either open or close mesh to construct a certain pattern. While in the 1900's, the huge production of steel hooks has introduced numerous products which are made from thread.

In today's stretch, crocheting and knitting is the enjoyment of numberless individuals. It has recently evolved the attentiveness of many persons that made it so popular with the high quality of yarns and threads used. The delight of making a crochet article is working it with different yarn textures and colors.

8 Basic Tips for Crochet BeginnersAs a novice, a person should understand the procedure of making a pattern row and a single stitch crocheting. Here are several fundamental steps that will help a person find out how to make a crochet product.

1. Foremost, the person may need the use of crochet mechanism like a size G crochet hook, small scissors, worsted-weight yarn with any colors, and a big-eyed yarn needle.

2. He may begin by holding the crochet hook in his right hand if he is right-handed. Then he may produce a slipped knot on the hook.

3. He may glide the hooked yarn to the slipknot of the hook. This procedure will produce a continuous stitch or a chained like stitches. He will then continue to bringing back the yarn on top of the hook making the thread go into the hook and grabbing the slip knot into the hook.

4. He can pass by on the first chain stitch permitting the knot to be properly hooked on the knot of the thread. This will allow the thread to be properly in place so that it will not loosen. A much tighter knot would be better to form a chain stitch.

5. He may insert the hook to the hole of on the next chain stitch, and then glide the yarn passing through the center of the second chain stitch going to the upper part of the hook. He may have now created two loops on the hook of the threads.

6. He may fetch the yarn back on the hook from back to front and slide the knot in the center of the loops that he had created on the hook.

Page 22: Successful business marketing

7. From the second loop, form another one chain stitch to construct a counter clock wise loop. This allows the hook to remain in the chain stitches. He may set in motion again in creating the accompanying rows, creating the exact loops on the previous rows.

8. He may form a single crochet stitch in the first loop tightened going to the following loops of the previous rows. He should be precisely certain to produce the hook on the last stitch to retain the stitches on their places.

Completing the Crochet Item

To conclude the work, he may cut the surplus yarn on the skin. He should not forget to keep at minimum 6 inches of the thread on the last chain stitch. This will allow him to slip the hook up to the upper part of the loops and bringing the thread into the last loops of the hook.

As a greenhorn, he may discover it tough to do especially on more detailed crochet products. He may begin doing these fundamental steps to help him get used to the techniques.

The Benefits Of Quilting DesignsIf you ever wondered where on earth all those graceful quilting designs come from on a quilt, several were designed by manual effort. Many others, however come from using a pattern. Before the days of patterns all the quilting designs originated in someone's mind as they saw in their mind's eye what they wished the end product to look like. With several designs crossing over several different squares it is easy to realize that it demands real talent to design your own quilt.

Patchwork quilts are possibly the most effortless designs to do because they consist of nothing except than a patchwork of distinct color materials, cut up into squares and sewn together in random order. Those patches that are made in a quilting design must be sewn back together in sequence for the material's patterns to match. Whether left to right or top to bottom, making a patterned match on each square with a square next to it requires planning and a lot of patience.

Your quilt size and the size of the squares, which will form the quilt will determine how complex the design of the quilt will be. While many decide on keeping their designs simple, others desire more intricate and complex designs. Using material that already has a premade design on it can make things a lot easier, but you still need to make each piece of similar size to make certain they fit together properly to form the designed size.

If you want to make your quilting designs reversible, you must realize that you will be spending an inordinate amount of time making it. Both sides must be finished, in regards to knots, and dependent upon your concept of reversible, may well require both sides made in mirror image before you sew all the layers together.

A sewing machine with a computerized guide can make quilting designs much easier to make. Many enable you to enter your design and let the machine do the work. The machine will then follow the pattern on the material you've put in the machine. For entire quilts where duplicated quilting designs are wanted this can make them easily and quickly.

Without an electronic sewing machine, there are patterns on the market with which to mark your cloth and then do the sewing by either traditional machine or by hand. Whichever way you choose, making more than enough squares for a moderately sized quilt is going to take some time and work on your part.

Why Consider Bartending as a BusinessIf you're looking for a new profession or even just for a summer job, then there are many things to be considered. Take bartending for example. Bartending sounds and seems like it would be one of the easiest and least stressful jobs there is. What could really be that difficult about memorizing a few drinks and then making them for customers?

Bartending, like any other profession, is much more than it might first seem. No job is as easy as it seems from the outside. It takes really doing a job to understand the depth of the job's complexity and challenges. One of the biggest things that people bartending do not realize is how much social interaction is involved.

Page 24: Successful business marketing

Picture the bar at any restaurant you enjoy spending time in. What does it look like? What kinds of people sit at the bar? Getting this picture in your head should help to give you a more clear picture of bartending. Imagine being surrounded by people, usually there alone, that want to talk with you as you are trying to work.

Many times people at bars try to tell their life story to the person bartending. They want attention and conversation that the person bartending often cannot give. So do not think that bartending will be a job that will not require you to talk with and listen to people.

I'm using bartending only as an example. My point is to get you to realize that any profession carries a weight and a responsibility beneath what is expected. Most professions require a level of communication and relationship with people. You shouldn't sign up for any job, including bartending, without having an accurate picture of what the job will actually require of you.

Consider carefully the level of interaction you want to have with people and then choose a job accordingly. If people tend to stress you out or frustrate you than it may not be a good idea to get a job that requires a lot of interaction.

Even bartending, which seems like it could be easy and stress free, is actually filled with interactions with people of all kinds. It requires a bartender who is able to work fast and under stress while maintaining kindness to customers. Things are not always as they seem. Know that about any profession as you jump in. And then proceed to bartending or any other job with caution and with confidence.

A Beginner's Guide To Antique CollectingThe reasons for collecting antiques can be as varied as the people who collect them. Some people first become interested in collecting as children, collecting anything from baseball cards to dolls, coins, stamps or even insects. Others don’t begin collecting until their adult years. That interest may be prompted by some significant event, being given a family heirloom or from a desire to preserve elements of our past.

But the one thing all these people have in common is that no matter what they have chosen to collect, it’s fun! Enjoying the pieces one has collected can be very satisfying, but it can’t compare to the thrill of the hunt and the fun of finding a treasure.

Collecting can be a great hobby, but there is an advantage to collecting antiques over something like matchbooks or souvenirs. Antiques appreciate in value. By learning to buy, sell and even trade wisely some people have been able to turn a hobby into a successful business. But how can someone move beyond collecting for fun and begin to build a collection that has value?

The key to building a collection that has value, especially antiques, is knowledge. Learn everything you can about the antiques you are collecting. Not only will it add to your enjoyment, but when you learn to buy, sell and trade from a position of knowledge you will be able to build a modest collection into one of real value.

When starting a collection, it’s important to do your homework. When you begin shopping for antiques armed with knowledge, you are in a better position to spot a bargain or avoid making a purchase you may regret. Because the world of antiques is so broad, it is advisable to limit your collection to a specific area. No one can be an expert about every type of antique. That will allow you to learn about important manufacturers, recognize rare specimens, and most important for beginners, know how to spot reproductions.

Page 25: Successful business marketing

Beginning to learn about antiques can be as simple as making a visit to your local library. There are a multitude of excellent books available about every conceivable category of antiques. However, two sources of information novice collectors may overlook are antique dealers and collectors. People who deal in antiques for profit or for pleasure enjoy talking about them. Antiques are one of their passions. Visiting antique shops and antique shows will not only allow you ask questions and learn from experts but it can be a fun way to spend a day or a weekend.

Once the “collecting bug” has bitten you, how do you decide what to collect? Simply collect something you love – something you are interested in. That makes learning about the items you collect all the more enjoyable. As you learn more about these antiques and their value, you will begin to learn how and where to shop for bargains. Being able to buy and sell to make a profit may not be your primary goal for collecting, but it may help you finance your hobby and enable you to increase the value of your collection.

In your hunt for antiques it is also important to buy quality, not quantity. Owning a few truly fine pieces is always preferable to owning many mediocre pieces. That may mean you may have to start small and gradually build your collection, but quality pieces appreciate faster and will build the value of your collection more quickly. When buying antiques you should avoid pieces that are damaged or repaired. They may be cheaper but they won’t appreciate as much or add value to your collection.

When you search for the unique rather than the common, you will find that the more rare the antique the more it appreciates. This is another reason knowledge is so important. With enough skill, you may be able to recognize rare or valuable pieces less knowledgeable collectors might overlook.

Although they can be excellent sources, antique shops and antique shows aren’t the only places where you can find valuable high quality antiques. People have made some great finds at flea markets and yard sales.

You may also find a wide range of antiques at auctions. But remember, if you go to an auction it’s doubly important to know the value of the pieces you’re bidding on. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the auction and end up spending way too much.

Finally, in your search for that special piece you have been searching for don’t forget about internet auction sites like Ebay. Thanks to the internet it’s possible to find just about anything.

Whatever you decide to collect for whatever the reason, enjoy the hunt. Bargains and interesting pieces can be found everywhere.

Different Types of Perfumes for BeginnersWhen you start looking at perfume, one of the first things you’ll notice is the array of terms used to denote the different kinds of perfumes and fragrances on the market. Some common terms you’ll see are perfume, cologne, eau de parfum, and eau de toilette. These terms are frequently confused with each other, and when buying perfumes, it helps to know what they are.

PerfumePerfume is the broadest of the categories. The word refers to both body scents generally, and a particular type of scent, specifically. In its general aspect, perfume includes all of the other terms, but not scented body lotions or creams.

As a specific term, perfume refers to the strongest, and longest lasting, type of body scent. Most perfumes are “layered” scents, meaning they contain a combination of different fragrances. These layers of scent are called “notes” in the French perfume industry, and they are not chosen at random.

Page 26: Successful business marketing

Typical perfumes have three notes. The first, comprised of the strongest scents, is also the shortest lasting. These are the scents that you’ll smell when you first put on the perfume, but they will usually wear off within a few hours, exposing the next layer…

The second layer, or “middle note,” is made of less volatile scents that will usually last until midday or early afternoon. By evening, the third and final layer is all that remains of the perfume. This is usually the most subtle scent; even though it is longer lasting, the strength of it will decrease through the day.

As a result of this layering, the best perfumes will slowly change their scent through the day. Good parfumiers have perfected the science of blending scents, so that the layers compliment each other, and the change in scent, while recognizable, is both subtle and pleasing.

ColognesThe next category of perfumes is cologne. I used to think that cologne was simple a word for “men’s perfume,” but that’s not actually the case. Cologne is a perfume, but one with only a single scent to it. Because of this, colognes are both stronger and shorter lasting than perfumes. The reasons for this apparent paradox are related.

Colognes, having only a single scent, will dissipate faster than perfumes. To balance that, they are prepared with a stronger scent, to last as long as possible. This gives colognes much less subtlety than perfumes, and makes it easy to “overdo it” when using them.

And back to my original misconception about cologne; while it is true that colognes are not exclusively for men, and that many fine women’s colognes are on the market, most men’s fragrances out there are colognes rather than perfumes. And even the men’s perfumes are frequently marketed under the term “cologne.” Perhaps perfume doesn’t sound masculine enough….

Eau de …The last two categories of liquid based perfume scents are eau de parfum and eau de toilette. “Eau” is French for water, and “toilette” is French for the act of getting oneself dressed and prepared; eau de parfum and eau de toilette are, respectively, “perfumed water” and “make-up water.” Of the two, eau de parfum is the more popular.

Eau de parfum is a less expensive form of perfume, based on single scents, but less overpowering than cologne. This is the perfume that ladies like to daub on their wrists or necks, using the glass jar stopper. This sort of perfume might not last through a full day, but it will definitely last through a full date.

Eau de toilette is similar to eau de parfum, but not as strong, and even less expensive. Typically, these scents only last a few hours, but because they are relatively cheap, and sold in small bottles that are easily carried in a purse or handbag, it’s easy to refresh the scent during the day. Eau de toilette is usually not a strong fragrance.

Lotions and CreamsFinally, most body lotions and creams are scented, but these are not strictly perfumes. They typically contain scented oils in about the same concentration as eau de toilette: enough to detect, but not enough to overpower, and probably not enough to last more than a few hours.

Such lotions are not intended as skin treatments, and not as perfumes. If you’re looking for body scents, it’s more cost effective to buy a good eau de toilette or eau de parfum than a scented lotion.

Making Scrapbooks, Money And Have Fun While Doing ItIf you are one of those creative and innovative people who love to work on scrapbooks, you might want to turn your hobby into a very profitable home business. There are endless possibilities when it comes to scrapbook making.

Note that a lot of people love to have some really nice custom made keepsakes for different occasions. However, due to the fast paced lives that we have, most of us could not find the time to sit down and assemble our special memories into a scrapbook. Since there’s a strong demand for scrapbooks in the country today, one can easily earn a good living by doing the things that one truly loves to do.

Starting up your businessTo get started with your scrapbook making business, you will need to clear out a space in your house where you can work undisturbed. If you don’t have an extra room in the house which you can turn into an office, just find a quite corner with good ventilation and lighting. You might want to work near a window so that you can take advantage of the daylight. To get started, you will need a working table, some glue, pencils, pens, coloring materials, scissors, cutters, paper punches, trinkets and lots of paper.

If you have children in the house, you might want to invest in a filing cabinet with a lock where you can keep all your stuff. Children are usually attracted to colorful trinkets and papers so it is better to hide your scrapbook making materials. There is really no point of quarrelling with your kids about papers and scrapbook making materials.

Once you have everything that you need, start by making some samples and take digital pictures of your creation. Post these pictures online together with their short descriptions and their prices. Once you have everything in place, you can start marketing your products by sending out e-mails to friends, relatives and colleagues. Invite them to take a look at your products.

You can also ask your friends, relatives and colleagues to invite their friends to take a look at your site. You may also send out press releases to free public relations websites and join forums to invite people over to your site. Although there are really no guarantees that press releases and open invitations at forums will generate you some business, it can still help your site gain some exposure.

To help you get your first batch of customers, you may want to offer some perks to your would be clients. For instance, you can offer 50% discount to your first 10 clients and offer 20% discount on repeat orders. The good thing about giving out discounts is that a lot of people will be enticed to buy your product because of the discounts.

Why You Should Join A Model Railroad ClubMore people enjoy the hobby of building their own model railroads today than they ever have before. It is no surprise considering that the model railroads that collectors in the 1960s built are really primitive in comparison with the railroads that enthusiasts can build today.

They are so life like and appealing that you cannot help falling in love with them and buying the equipment to get you started on your own. As a result of the popularity of modern railroads, individuals are starting to want to communicate with each other. Although technological advances have made this possible in recent years, you first need a forum to meet. Enter the model railroad club!

The model railroad club is extremely popular amongst new and old model railroad fans alike. Not only can you get in contact with people with the same hobby via model railroad club, you can also swap hints and tips as well as advice.

Page 28: Successful business marketing

You can also learn more about the modern railroad, which is especially important if you are looking to learn owing to novice status!

You can chat, read articles and also find out about live events and news via a model railroad club. Model railroad clubs are actually all over the place. You will usually find one in every town and city so there are definitely model railroad clubs that are accessible to you regardless of where you live and work.

Amtrak Employees Model Railroad Club is one particular club that you can join. It is based in Los Angeles, California and is extremely possible. Amtrak is a well known transport company in its own right so it does tend to attract a lot of members. There are no requirements either. As long as you are a model railroading fan then you can join this modern railroad club. Although it is only five years old, it is one of the best around by a long way!

There are other large model railroad clubs around too, as well as a number of small individual ones that are usually formed by friends with shared interests. Of the larger ones, Tech Model Railroad Club is one of the most renowned and is known all over the world.

It is this particular model railroad club that actually uses telephone relays to automatically switch tracks. Of course this was the most advanced technology available in the 1950s and can actually be done on your own model railroad now.

There are of course other clubs available to you, regardless of what country you actually live in! You can check out a list of model railroad clubs on the Internet and narrow them by region, state or even country. They are the perfect places to meet like minded individuals and ask advice. You can supplement your knowledge and then one day actually use it to help someone else out!

Model railroad scenery can be used to complete the picture, although you can keep adding accessories and locomotives at your will and change it as many times as you like. This is a healthy and highly challenging hobby so why not explore the stores that see the items to see what can really be done?

The Wonderful Animated World Of Disney MoviesEven though Walt Disney has produced myriad movies, it is more popular for its animated ones. After starting the animated journey with 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' in the winter of 1937, Disney movies have not looked back. One can obtain a list of more than 150 animated movies that have been produced and distributed to add to the joy of children across the world.

After a certain age, kids grow out of Sesame Street, Tellytubbies and BooBaahs. At this time the next level of entertainment that attracts them generally are the Walt Disney movies that appeal to a slightly older age group.

The great thing about these movies, which has probably led to the huge popularity of the animated movies, is the fact that they appeal to adults and children alike. A mother does not mind sitting through a Disney movie with her child but an episode of Tellytubbies can be wearisome.

To the uninitiated, it may be a surprise that each Disney movie comes accompanied with a movie book. These books are published under the ‘Mouse Works’ banner and contain a simple version of the story. This can help in encouraging children to not only see the movie but also to read books, which hopefully will extend to other forms of reading at some time.

Though the company is proud of all its movie productions, some of them have attained the stature of ‘classics’ based on their popularity. Abound with simple, yet meaningful songs these movies can expose the child to emotions, morals and ways of the world while telling a story.

Page 29: Successful business marketing

Toddlers seem to enjoy the light evilness of some of the characters like the witch in Snow White and Cruella De Vil in the 101 Dalmatians.

Alternately, some of the most endearing characters that Walt Disney movies have created are Tramp in The Lady and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. But most of the leading characters in inspire awe and amazement aided by the color, grandeur and dazzle.

Some of the Walt Disney films that have become all time favorites of most kids are The Lion King, Toy Story, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, The little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and of course Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Some of the less known but equally enticing movies are the sequels to the Lion King, Dumbo, Lilo and Stitch, Pooh Bear and the Kim Possible series.

In spite of the high levels of endearment that the movies enjoy among most people, there are rumors galore about how there are countless hidden references to perverted things in the animated movies. The most known references are made to the tower on the cover of The Little Mermaid that resembles the male genitalia, the apparent erection of the priest in the wedding scene of the same movie and the dust taking the form of the word ‘sex’ in The Lion King. Hearsay has it that Donald Duck has used vulgar words umpteen times during angry outbreaks.

Some opine that these subtle references have become a tradition at the film studios. This tradition started due to the fact that Walt Disney did not assign relevant credits to the creative animators. These animators, then, took to including hidden codes in the animation scenes to get back.

One such example is that of the shorts that Goofy wears. If you look close enough, you will probably see names of artists written on these shorts. Though the given instance seems possible, the inclusion of debauchery in the animated Disney movies is debatable and it remains a question as to whether it is a fact or the Rorschach effect.

Guide to Low Budget Film MakingSo you say you have a burning desire to make a movie and you will do what ever it takes to get the job done? You fancy yourself and “independent” type and you want to reflect that in your art? Well, you better know what it takes before you decide to launch yourself into the world of independent filmmaking. If you do not know, your project may never see the light of day, or more importantly the light of a movie screen.

Making a low budget or “independent” film is a double edged sword. On the one side you have the freedom to express your art without corporate considerations, but on the other side you have the daunting task of doing almost every job yourself. From writing, producing, directing, and acting to providing travel arrangements, applying make-up, and fixing broken equipment, you cover the broad spectrum of chores and responsibilities.

And that does not even cover the other responsibilities such as providing meals for everyone, rehearsals, etc… All you have to do is look at the long list of credits at the end of any movie in the theaters and you can see how much work it takes to make a motion picture.

While in the midst of making my last film Mike And The Magic Lamp I almost started to doubt whether I would ever finish it. I had been working on this movie for about two years straight doing every aspect of the film myself when I suddenly started to run out of energy. The continuous filming that I was doing combined with a heavy work schedule at my real job (Stage Manager of TV shows in Hollywood) was starting to get to me.

Page 30: Successful business marketing

I would have to prepare everything before a film shoot, and then do just about everything during the film shoots. Once in a while I would have a loyal friend help me with the awesome responsibilities of carrying equipment, setting it up, and then tearing everything down and putting it away each day, but you can only ask them to do so much if you are not paying them.

At one point during the filming of M&TML I passed out, fell off my director’s chair and hit my head on the corner of the set. I was mentally and physically exhausted while only halfway through the filmmaking process. The problem was that I was not yet creatively exhausted.

The burning desire to make a movie and enter it in all the major film festivals was still alive, but the vessel (my body) that allows me to create was in need of a little R&R. I would take a day off here and there but it was always hard to rest when you have that little creative voice in your head bugging you to get your film finished so the world can enjoy your art. I was very lucky that I only suffered a minor head injury from that accident.

I finally finished the film Mike And The Magic Lamp after four long years of endless work that nearly put me in the hospital from exhaustion. The film went on to win the Silver Award at the Houston Worldfest in 1998 along with several other awards that year at major film festivals like the Santa Clarita International Film Festival. That film gave me recognition as an Independent Filmmaker and inspired me to pursue the path of making films on my own terms.

I pushed myself to the limits mentally and physically to get my movies made in the beginning of my career and it was just the springboard that I needed to get launched into the world of independent filmmaking. I may have doubted my body’s ability to keep up with my creative drive, but I some how managed to strike an agreement between the two and get my films finished.

Before you take on the daunting task of making a movie almost completely by yourself, you have to ask yourself one thing; AM I REALLY COMMITTED to this idea? If you are not, then I suggest you find another outlet for your creativity. If you are committed, then pursue it with everything you have inside, but make sure you realize that your creative drive cares nothing about your health.

Team Coaching To Business CoachingCoaching is a process of teaching and directing. The one who directs is known as the ‘coach’. To grow within a society and to learn proper skills to establish and perform, coaching is very necessary. At every stage and in various aspects of your life, you will find a need for coaching. It imparts knowledge, discipline and skill to perform wherever there is a requirement.

There is no definite line of coaching as coaches are independent to select the type and structure of coaching. Encouragement, inspiration and advice constitute the base of a coaching technique. These elements are present in all types of coaching (like sports, business, personal and career coaching).

An approach towards coaching should be very responsible and disciplined because it requires patience and hard work. It is a very traditional method and starts at a very informal level where parents teach their children. Generally elders are regarded as good coach for the young ones who are passing through a learning stage. Here are few definite types of coaching that differ from one another with regards to features, functions and time period.

Personal coaching: When a person offers individual coaching to a client then it is personal coaching or “life coaching”. A mutual understanding is established between the client and the coach and the coach carries forward with a definite progress plan. Constant feedback is given to the client and this type of coaching can enter an informal level. A coach analyses the strengths and weaknesses of the client and works towards repair and rebuilding.

Page 31: Successful business marketing

Team coaching: A single client is replaced by a team in team coaching. A coach takes care of a particular team and prepares a chart of progress for each individual and an indicator of group performance. This is a better learning process as the clients can learn a lot from each other. Moreover, a collective effort is always better than singular approach.

Business coaching: Business coaching is completely focused at assisting a business owner towards a distinct and efficient business plan. A business coaching can be operated in any department of commerce, from traditional business and entrepreneurial start-up business to e-business. Unlike other coaches, a business coach needs to be completely aware about the current advancements and changes in the business scenario.

Career coaching and executive coaching: Perhaps career coaching is one of the most common coaching types. Almost every student needs guidance to build a satisfying career for him or her. There are many queries and difficulties in students’ life and sometimes they are unable to handle the situation.

Executive coaching is professional type of coaching to impart skills, strategies and professional (according to the profession) behavior to the executives.

Stamp Collector's Beginners GuideToday, a hobby like stamp collecting too has become a specialized affair. It has gone from being a fun hobby to a proper investment and auction business. But for philately lovers the discovery of a stamp, the history attached to it and the chase of actually adding it to your collection is incomparable. Now this hobby has a terminology of its own that even an amateur collector should be familiar with.

Philately is defined as a hobby that denotes stamp collecting and study of stamps and items related to stamps. There is a mark on them called the Authentication Mark that tells you that the stamp has been validated and examined by an expert. The Denomination on the stamp is the face value of the stamp and the collectibles vary by a wide margin.

A Freak stamp is one that has mistakes on it like ink problems or wrong printing of the design etc. The Hinge is a small, gummed rectangle of paper that is used to stick stamps into the album by a narrow strip. Then there are stamps that are Never Hinged which means that the stamp was never mounted by its hinge. A Watermark is an embedded design that is used for anti-counterfeiting and it also adds to its esthetic value.

The Essay is the proposed design of a stamp that has not been issued yet. The Frame is the margin outside the design of a stamp. Centering is the position of a design on the stamp's face in relation to the margin and if there is an error in the manufacturing process it can affect the value of the stamp.

Tagging is defined as the use of phosphorescent dyes in making the stamp and the dye is read by machines by using an ultraviolet light and this will detect the face value and other elements of the stamp. The stamp is then Proofed, a process similar to coins where the trail stamp is used to ensure that there is no problem with the design and manufacturing process.

Variety is a term where there is a deviation from the standard issue like there may be a difference in the watermarks or a wrong colored ink may have been used etc. Perfins are stamps with perforated initials used mainly as a counterfeiting element and as part of the design. Then there are Imperforate or imperforated stamps that are valuable collectors stamps but can be duplicated easily.

A Block is a group of unseparated stamps and these have the complete watermark designs along with other features of the design that a torn out single stamp may have only a small part of the complete design and this makes it invaluable. A full sheet of such unseparated stamps is called Pane. Selvage is the plain margin area seen around the Pane and Gutter between the panes.

Page 32: Successful business marketing

A stamp in Mint condition has never been used for postage. So there are no hinge marks, no tears, no marks and the original adhesive is intact. Original Gum is the term for the original adhesive on the back of a stamp. Its use and remains can affect the value of the stamp. The Cover is the envelope and the packaging on which the stamp was used and On Paper refers to stamps that have actually been used for postage and are typically still stuck to the cover and Entire refers to an intact cover.

Approvals are the stamps that stamps dealers will show collectors 'for approval' and Expertizing is where the stamp is examined by an expert like someone from the American Philatelic Expertizing Service. A First Day Cover is a stamp that refers to an envelope on which the stamp was stuck and it now has a cancellation mark from the first day of issue. Definitive stamps are those on regular issue and are produced at a specific rate of postage.

Invert stamps were printed with multiple colors where one of the colored designs is printed upside down. These are invaluable to a collector and an example of this is the 1918 U.S. 24-cent Jenny. Another invaluable stamp is the One Penny Black which is the world's first postage stamp, issued by Great Britain in 1840. Earlier the receivers of mail would generally pay the postage rather than the sender of the mail.

And finally we have Airmails which as we all know is the mail sent by air. These stamps saw their demise in the 1970s as issue of these stamps stopped when a vast majority of mail started traveling by air and there was no need to distinguish between mail sent by air or sea or road. Now they are invaluable to a collector.

The Right Wedding PhotographyWedding is not just an event but it is journey that two people have decided to take. Wedding photography may not be a mainstream or commercial photography but it is still an art. It should not be considered to be anything less than serious photography.

In fact it is one of the most demanding disciplines of professional work. If you are an aspiring wedding photographer then there are certain key areas that you need to understand. One of the key areas is strategy. Even before you can think about the camera to use, the film roll, the lighting and the background, you need to work on a strategy.

A sound strategy means that you would be able to create opportunities by the numbers. You will have to create an opportunity in every situation. Most wedding photographers take two versions of the same shot to eliminate blinks and at the same time they are able to introduce variety. The norm of wedding photography is to shoot a full-length photo, which is followed by a head and shoulders or half-length photo.

Secondly, you will have to create a list of photographs that should be or can be taken during wedding. The list drawn by most professionals include photographs of Bride at home, preparations/wedding dress, parents, bridesmaids, bridesmaids – group photo, bride and bridesmaids, bride and chief bridesmaid, bride and family, parents and bride, mother and bride, father and bride, brothers, sisters and bride, parents and bridesmaids, extended family and any special request.

These will be followed by photographs in the church or outdoors after the wedding ceremony is over. One of the favorite shots is where the bride walks through the aisle. You can take good photos using a tripod so that the flash can bounce from a reflector at around f/5.6 followed by a shutter speed of 1/8 or 1/15 of a second. This will allow ambient light to seep in. If you are not using the tripod then you will need to have one stop less than the normal where the flash will reflect on an 80mm lens and the shutter speed will be 1/30 of a second.

Page 33: Successful business marketing

There are basically two types of cameras used for wedding photography. One is the 35mm and the other is a medium format. The 35mm cameras create grainier appearance when the photograph is enlarged as compared to a medium format. Another aspect of photography that you need to know about is the camera film. The camera film is available in both B&W and color.

The color film is the most popular one but off late B&W photos are coming to the forefront. The good thing about black & white film is that you can create an artistic look. Secondly, the B&W photos last longer than their colored counterpart. The salient point of color films is that they are more versatile.

If you shoot with a color film then you will be able to portray the details of the wedding day. If you are using a 35mm camera for the occasion then your best bet will be 100, 200 or 400 speed film. The 100 speed film gives best quality prints in strong sunlight, the 200 speed film can be used in sunlight as well as shade and the 400 speed film is the best for low light.

How To Be A Great Public SpeakerPublic speaking is an important course though most might think they do not need one. The skills you acquire in public speaking are certainly helpful in your everyday work routine, interacting with people and practically in your social life.

In studying public speaking, you would learn to say what you mean, develop self-confidence, learn more about yourself and how to relate with others and of course enjoy the freedom of speech.

A public speaking course would help you organize your thoughts so that your audience may fully understand your message the way you want them to understand it. You will learn, too, how to speak clearly but interestingly before an audience using verbal and non-verbal expressions. You acquire effective speaking and delivery techniques. Aside from these skills, you also develop sensitivity to the needs of others and the delivery of messages clearly with the aid of voice and body.

It is a great lift for you if you are aware that you can express yourself well. This awareness results in satisfying self-esteem, and in the long run, courage and self-reliance. With this skill, you can face anything - impromptu interviews, speeches and talks.

With these courses, you actually learn more about yourself. You reveal things that you do not know of and challenge yourself about the things that you know. You assess yourself on how much you know and how you explain it to others. While relating with others, you are discovering your strengths and weaknesses. Training yourself in public speaking will bring you to a more rewarding self-discovery.

Aside from learning about yourself, you also get to learn how to relate to others. In public speaking, you become aware of their expectations and limitations. Your ability to understand people heightens and you also become a good listener.

Most importantly, you get to enjoy the freedom of speech without being afraid but taking responsibility for the things you say. With public speaking, you are ready to standup by your views and opinions, trained to face courageously negative reactions, accept them with respect but not necessarily agreeing to them. Now, you have the capacity to listen to opinions different from yours but able to do so calmly even if the audience attacked your views. You are able to disagree without sounding disagreeable.

There are a lot of public speaking courses to choose from online, fulltime and part-time programs alike. They have different focuses like pronunciation and vocal skills training, presentation and team building skills. The companies provide in their sites the course description, outline, slots and schedules available and where you can enroll near your place. Remember, go and express yourself!

How To Get Started With Auto DetailingThe wear and tear of seemingly ordinary, day to day driving can take its toll on even the most cautious of drivers. Nicks, scratches, dents, chips, and the like, can etch the surface of your car like an acid, marring the pristine finish it had when you drove it off the lot. These unwanted (and yet inevitable) scars are the proud automobile owner’s nightmare, but can be easily remedied by way of the talents of a professional auto detailer.

Those long bouts of highway driving we are all subjected to from time to time, can be as frustrating for the drone of the open road as much as they are for the caked layer of insects which inevitably grace the hood, bumpers, windshields, and grills of a once clean car. It’s an annoyance most easily absolved through a thorough automobile detailing.

good auto detailer can polish, buff, and wax your car back into the condition you remember it, and the condition you deserve it to be in. Of course, you might say, professional automotive detailing is not a necessity, I can scrub and polish my own car, thank you very much.” But this can be a dangerous misconception. Using the wrong equipment, or using improper techniques, or unqualified persons to work on your car can actually do more harm than good.

Cheap shampoos, soaps, scrub brushes and such, can wear down the quality of your automobile’s paint job, leaving it more spotted, tarnished, and lusterless. Even hasty, careless work with something as seemingly inconsequential as a bristly old rag can leave nearly unnoticeable scuffs, slowly wearing down the shine of a once beautiful marriage of paint and wax.

This is where the talents and experience of a professional auto detailer can save the day. In the hands of a good detailer, your car can gain back the brilliance it once had, and had subsequently lost through the trials and tribulations of everyday use.

And that’s nothing to say of the interior. We all of us know how easy it is to stain, scuff, and generally wear down the carpet and upholstery of your car of truck’s interior, leaving it a paltry version of its former self. And then there’s the non-visible horrors of an unclean car: the smell. The tiniest of coffee spills or other such filth and dirt that can so easily be trudged into your car, can burrow their foul odor deep in the fibers of carpets and seat covers.

And anyone who has ever taken their dog for a ride to the park knows that unmistakable canine musk lingers on well after the dog blanket and tennis ball have been removed. Such unpleasant odors area fact of your car’s life, but are in no way a death sentence. A thorough auto detailing can exorcise even the most offensive aromas from that enclosed space where, behind the wheel, we spend so much of our time.

There’s no need to go on driving a car that is slowly deteriorating away from its former glory. We can all recall that new car smell, that fresh-off-the-lot fragrance that has burned its way into all car drivers’ memories; it’s one of the saddest truths about regular car use that this smell represents cleanliness, and whose only hope of recovery can be through cleanliness.

Automotive detailing is your best bet to improving the look and feel of your car is by utilizing the efforts of a good detailer. A full auto detailing will appease that nagging guilt you feel whenever the sun comes out and all the blemishes of a once fine automobile are exposed for every prying eye to see. His expertise can do what the rest of us folk have neither the time nor the equipment to accomplish – and he might just have you, if not enjoying, at the very least, dreading that unavoidable rush-hour just a little bit less.

Building Your Home Business with Residual IncomeHaving an Internet marketing business is great, but did you know that doing it with residual income is even better?

The best way to be able to get the most returns for your time invested is through getting for yourself residual income that just keeps on coming. Here are some reasons why residual income, with multiple streams of income will work best for you.

Because You Are Not Focused On Individual SalesUnless you are selling something that is in great demand, and selling for a lot of money, getting individual sales is good, but not the best. Now a lot of people can do quite well through individual sales - but they have to keep on making the sales - or their income stops!

If you have one line of income, then you could be instantly out of business. You could also look at it this way. If you are laid off from a regular job, then your sole source of income is gone.

Suppose, however, that you could get a sale that would bring in monthly, for years to come, a small but continual income. That is what is meant by a residual income.

An example would be an ISP, and offering services to your customers. In this example, people buy into it - and will pay for the services for years to come.

After you get so many people signed up, you could literally put your Internet marketing business into neutral and go on an extended vacation. You would not even need to be there in order to make money. It operates itself.

Because You Are Free To Add Multiple StreamsAfter your first home business gets established, then you are free to build a second work at home income stream. The first business becomes largely self-perpetuating, only needing a little attention each week for answering customer questions for example.

This frees you to develop a second line, and then a third, if you desire to keep going. This makes the most sense and it is just like diversifying your stock portfolio. The more diversified it is, the less risk you have of losing all you have invested.

Those that have become really successful use these means to do so. That way, they do not have to devote a constant 110% in order to keep getting those new sales. By now you should be able to see the advantages of setting up multiple streams of income, with each providing a residual income, too.

Ask yourself, which would you rather have, a customer who buys one item for a thousand dollars, one time, or a customer who pays you a fifty dollars a month for years to come?

Power Marketing StrategiesMany analysts are predicting a very gloomy forecast for loan officers and real estate agents for 2007.

So what are you going to when interest rates rise and the real estate market falls?

If you follow my seven strategies, you will have a fantastic year: 1. Goals and planning. This seems obvious, but I would say that 95% of loan originators don't have

written goals and plans to attain those goals. This one step is THE most critical step in this area. How do you expect to succeed if you don't know where to go and how you will get there?

Take a sheet of paper, and at the top of it write "In the next 12 months, I want to earn $XXX,XXX in commissions."

Next, break down that number into months. Then you divide the desired monthly commission amount by the average you make per transaction. This will tell you how many transactions a month you need to aim for.

The next part is to list at least 10 actions that will help you reach that number, and you do this for every month. Taking this one step of goal setting and action planning will put you ahead of 95% of the other loan officers out there, so go do it.

2. Use technology effectively. The true power of technology is its ability to automate your business, thus allowing you to focus on other business building activities.

Do you know what an autoresponder is? It is a simple email program managed by a third party company like GetResponse (http://www.get-response.com/) (Alexa) that will automatically respond with a message of your choice whenever an email is sent to it.

Here is one way you can use it to get more leads automatically. You place a classified ad in the newspaper promoting a free report called "7 Mistakes First Time Home Buyers Make When Choosing a Lender."

Here is where the magic happens. When the prospect sends them email, the autoresponder automatically sends them the report. You can then set up the autoresponder to send them a series of follow up emails a day later, 5 days later, 2 weeks later, heck, even a year later.

And this is all done automatically, whether you received two responses or two thousand responses.

Page 37: Successful business marketing

With an autoresponder, it will automatically contact them, and keep you fresh in their mind. With the low cost of autoresponder services, it is a true wonder to me why more loan officers don't use them.

Along with autoresponders, there are websites, automatic greeting card mailings, 1-800 hotlines, virtual tours, business card CD-Roms, etc.

3. Maximizing the potential of your database. It is amazing to me to see how much time the average loan officer spends in getting new business, and how little attention he gives his database of past customers.

What most of them fail to realize is that their database of past customers is their goose that lays golden eggs. It has been proven over and over again that it takes more time, effort and money to get business from a new prospect than it does to get business from a previous customer.

Successful loan officers see their databases as an asset. Sure, they too are actively marketing to find new prospects, but they spend a much greater time tending to their databases then the average loan officer.

Using a quality contact management software like Act! (http://www.act.com/) (Alexa) can make caring for your database a breeze.

4. Develop two new referral sources each month. Loan officers have enjoyed the amount of refinance business in recent years. However, the steady rise in rates has shifted the focus back to finding purchase and new construction business.

All you need to do is find two quality referral sources a month. At the end of twelve months, you will have 24 referral sources, and that should provide you with a decent amount of new business leads.

The best referral sources I have found for originators are: real estate agents, builders and contractors, attorneys, financial planners, insurance agents, and human resource managers.

Each month, research and pick out 10 potential referral sources. Send each one a letter of introduction, and let them know that you will give them a call to follow up. Whatever you do, DON'T ASK FOR REFERRALS. Not yet.

Tell them you are looking for professionals to send YOUR referrals to.

If you do all of this, out of your original ten potential referral sources, you should end up with 2-4 to choose from. Repeat this process each month and you will have a steady stream of business coming from these referral sources.

5. Perform three direct mail marketing campaigns. With the advent of email and websites, fewer and fewer mortgage professionals are doing any sort of mail campaigns. I recommend doing 3 campaigns, two focused at your previous customers and one at farming for new prospects.

You should be connecting with your database throughout the year, but these two mail campaigns should be directly focused at asking for new business from them.

The previous customer campaigns usually consist of a letter thanking them for their past support and asking them to help grow my business with referrals.

Sometimes I include a survey or referral form and self-address prepaid return envelope. Usually as an incentive, I offer a gift certificate as my way of saying thank you.

The response rate is higher than normal, and results in leads and immediate business.

I referred to the third letter as "farming for new prospects." I don't mean a geographical farm which most salespeople direct their marketing campaigns at.

Page 38: Successful business marketing

You can purchase a mailing list for any type of potential customer that you want. Let say that you want your ideal customer to be between the ages of 35-50 years old, have a household annual income above $100,000, have a loan-to-value on their current residence less than 70% and have a credit score over 675.

Did you know that there are mailing companies that can get you a list of names and addresses that fit the criteria of your ideal customer? It's unbelievable.

This allows you to tailor your mail piece to that exact prospect. So much so that you would be able to relate to him at a deeper level them the average business letter getting to him.

6. Start or join a business network. A business network is a group of professionals in related but non-competing industries that meet regularly to exchange ideas and referrals. The most famous business network organization in the world is Business Network International (http://www.bni.com/). (Alexa)

So I recommend that you either find a local chapter of BNI in your city, or start a business network group yourself.

Most groups contain a real estate agent, an insurance agent, a loan officer, a financial planner, an attorney, a home inspector, an appraiser, etc.

This group is a perfect environment to share ideas and leads because of the crossover of needs and services.

For example, a couple comes in to talk to their financial planner. Their youngest child just moved out of the home, and they are looking to sell their house and move into a smaller condominium.

At the next business network meeting, the financial planner brings up his customers' situation. This results in a lead for the real estate agent (to sell their home and help purchase the condo), the loan officer (who can help with the financial of their condo purchase), the home inspector and the appraiser.

All these leads from this one couple. Do you now see the power of being involved with business network groups?

7. Create publicity once a year. Local newspapers, radio and television stations love reporting about what I call "feel-good" news stories.

As a loan officer, you have the fortune of helping people who need it on a daily basis. And if you do happen to get some media exposure, you will get instant but temporary fame that will give you an immediate increase in business.

Finding a way to help and getting the local media to notice it and report it is challenge, but the possible upside would be remarkable. Some things you can do: help poor credit customers, volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, help those who don't speak English, give out free pumpkins at Halloween, give out free turkeys at Thanksgiving, hold a fundraiser dinner to benefit the homeless, etc.

Before the event, be sure to tell every media outlet in your area so that they can plan to attend.

No matter what happens to the market, you can confidently predict your success by following the seven strategies that I have presented.

Ultimately, you have total control over the amount of business you can generate, even if the gloom and doom industry analysts are correct with their predictions.

Common Mistakes Made By New Affiliate MarketersYou’ve just signed up for this fantastic new affiliate program. They have great products, free referral websites, training, pre-made ads for you to copy and the best compensation plan on the internet. This is the best affiliate program on the internet! Put a few ads out there and you’re on your way to becoming the next internet millionaire. Right?

Before you break ground on that big mansion on the hill, here are a few mistakes many new affiliate marketers make that you’ll want to avoid.

5. Believing the hypeAnd yes, I do mean the hype promoted by your own program. Those income projections that every program makes are just that, projections. You can make that much. Will you within your first few months of the program? Probably not. Look at this as a long term investment in your future, not a way to get rich quick. Believe in yourself and your ability to make your dreams come true. But don’t believe the hype.

4. Expecting instant results with little effortExpect to work your business. And expect to work it daily. If you opened your own neighborhood store, you’d expect to have to go in to work daily, wouldn’t you? You’d expect to have to advertise and get people to come to your store. Well, you just opened your own brand new internet store, what are you going to do to make it work? How are you going to get people to come look at your product?

3. Lack of a plan and specific goalsYou’ve probably heard the saying, plan your work and work your plan. You need to have a specific plan and clear, measurable goals. Many people join affiliate programs with the vague goal of wanting to make a lot of money. How much money? How quickly do you want it? (Try to be realistic here, making a million dollars in one month is not realistic.) Okay, you have your clear, specific goal. Now how are you going to get there. Again, think clear, specific steps here.

2. Advertising your affiliate linkWait a minute, if you don’t advertise your affiliate link, how are you supposed to get sales and downline members? Create your own website that has a link to your affiliate program. Every affiliate for your program gets the same website that you do. You have to be able to make yourself different from everyone else. The way you do that is with your own website.

1. QuittingYou’ve been working your affiliate program for 2, 3, maybe even 4 months now with very little to show for it. You’re getting discouraged and beginning to wonder if this is worth it after all. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure out what it is you need to be doing. Learn more. Bug your sponsor and your upline members until they help you out. Don’t quit. No one ever achieved success by quitting. Neither will you.

Using Article Marketing To Boost Site TrafficYou've been writing great articles for your website or blog, keyword rich, insightful pieces that should be studied in marketing classes. You've probably seen an increase in site traffic since you started writing using SEO. But there's another way to use the articles that you're already writing to boost traffic even more.

Page 40: Successful business marketing

Publish them on other sites. It's simple math. Your site receives 200 hits a day. Site B receives 500. If you get an article published on Site B, your site and marketing links are exposed to 700 people.

Unfortunately, this can be easier said than done. You have to convince the editor or webmaster of Site B that your article is more worthy of publication than Joe Schmoe's about the same subject. If you think you can, then you are all set to start your very own article marketing campaign and boost traffic to your site. Here're some hints to sell articles for your article marketing campaign.

Article Marketing Starts With The E-Mail To A Publisher SiteE-mail has become one of those quick forms of communication. We type them out real quick, using the first words and phrases that come to mind, and then send them off without a second thought, like leaving a voicemail. But in the case of article marketing (and everything else you use e-mail for), the e-mail is the first writing sample a buyer will read. If your e-mail is not professional and well written, there is no reason for a buyer to move onto the actual article. You will have failed the ever important first impression.

This is a failure that can be avoided by taking the time to edit the e-mail. Make sure that there are no grammatical mistakes, that your sentences make sense, and that you don't have more words necessary. Other things like making sure the subject line is eye catching or addressing the e-mail to a specific person instead of a company or a "To Whom It May Concern" can make your article stand out in the crowd.

Market Articles To The Appropriate SitesThis one sounds like a no brainer, but at least now you can't say nobody told you. Make sure that you send your articles to places that will actually publish them. This obviously applies to content (don't send an article about high New York Society to a Mountain Climber's website), but this also applies to style and voice and things like that. If you're an edgy, sarcastic writer, you probably don't want to be submitting to a serious, boring site. They simply won't publish your article, and your article marketing campaign will be a waste.

Also, don't just write an article and then try to get it published. This method might produce some results, but they will be few and far between and will require a lot of time and selling. Instead, write your articles with a specific site in mind. Go and read other articles on the site.

Know the voice and structure of the already published articles. Review the submissions guidelines. Be familiar with policies. In the e-mail, include reasons that your article is a perfect match for their site. An article written with purpose for a specific site or group of sites will be more successful than one written without a destination in mind.

Grammar, Grammar, GrammarThe whole point of article marketing is to convince people to click on the link to your site that you've included in your byline. You will lose a lot of credibility if your article is full of grammatical mistakes and poorly thought out sentences. Write several drafts of your articles. Make sure you're saying what you mean. Once your article is perfect, have someone else read it to make sure you're not blind.

You'd be amazed what you miss in your own writing, even if you're a professional editor. Doing this will A. Make editors more likely to accept your work and B. Give the reader the impression that you are professional, which will in turn make them try to find out what else you have to say.

Page 41: Successful business marketing

Refer Back To Your Other Article With LinksIf you can, include links in the body of your e-mail that will lead back to your site. After all, that is the entire point of article marketing. A good way to do this is to refer to an article that you've written in the past that is 'coincidentally' posted only on your website. People like more information, and if you tell them there is more on another site, chances are that they'll go there, and you just got another hit.

Be careful not to overuse this technique. Too many links will make them commonplace and readers won't notice them. Including one or two makes them special and probably worthwhile. Also, don't link to irrelevant articles. Readers will just get annoyed and not browse around your site. The object of article marketing is to get people exploring your site. If they wind up at a random article, they'll just close the window and go back to what they were reading, instead of stumbling across your affiliate marketing links.

Sign Your WorkDon't ever forget about the signature or byline at the end of your article. This should include your name, of course, but also a link directly to your site's homepage. You might also consider linking to a few related articles that are posted on your site. Anyone who enjoyed the article will take the time to see who wrote it and what their background or own personal ventures are, and chances are, they'll click on the link to read more by you.

The signature section is the climax of your article marketing campaign. It is where you are trying to guide readers with your article so they will see your links and visit your site and make you money. It's that simple.

Getting Visitors To Stay Through Web Based Marketing9/10 times your web site visitors won't stay for more than 15 seconds. This is how you get them to stay, or should I say, get them to come back!

For most of you, your web site is a great brochure. It probably outlines your services very well. There's nothing wrong with that what-so-ever!

but...

There are creative marketing strategies that you can implement so that you don't entirely loose your clients, you just need to keep them in the loop for when the time comes for them to buy.

"Marketing Online - Is about creative patience"Being creative with your web marketing ventures is crucial but it doesn't necessarily react like print magazine ads or like newspaper press releases. No, it takes time for something to kick into full force.

This is why you should always keep on top of creating something new because, just like regular marketing, if you don't have another campaign ready to go when your done this one, you'll start to loose prospects on the way and create a slow period for your business.

You want your world online to consistently grow. Don't grow too quickly, just grow and keep growing with all your marketing efforts.

Here are some of the marketing strategies you can implement:- Create an online newsletters- Give something away for free- Create online questionnaires

Page 42: Successful business marketing

- Engage yourself into discussion groups- Write helpful tips- Create local resources for others- Have a section of tips from others in your field- Create a forum on your site

As you can see, these are all marketing strategies that ingage people in some way. The key is to create emotion through your visitors. Once you've engaged someone from your site, your site will be imprinted on their mind. It may take them a year to buy something from you but once in a while, maybe even weekly, they will keep coming back to your site.

The important thing to remember is that, eventually, we loose all of our visitors, even more important is to find marketing ventures that keep them coming back from time to time.

Just because someone saw your service today, doesn't mean that he/she is ready to buy what you are offering. Many people "Shop For Tomorrow". They like to browse around, see the options out there before they dig into their wallet.

How To Build A Profitable ListThe call to action to sign up has to be an ingrained part of your website. It is a mistake to have a single call to action. Your visitors should be able to sign up on any page. If you have a website with twenty-five pages, have twenty-five subscribe buttons on your site.

It is true that you can’t expect to get until you give. Provide your visitors with a free gift such as a special report. For example, a realtor might provide a special report on selling a home in a soft market. Brand you special report effectively. Include your name, your website address, your phone number, e-mail address, the name of your company, and your physical address.

Your subscribers might forward your report to their friends and family members, and you have to make sure it is easy for anyone to reach you. Embed information within your special report about how to subscribe to your website to receive similar information. A few more examples of free give aways are ebooks, online courses, and tutorials.

Keep in mind that free doesn’t mean worthless. Whatever you give away has to have value. The only drawback of giving something free in exchange for a sign up is that you might get people on your list that are only interested in your free gift. Regardless, free gifts provide a great way to build your list.

Provide short audio clips for your subscribers. A CPA might provide audio tips about reducing your taxes. The audio doesn’t have to be a one-hour presentation. Two to three minute audio files are perfect for website. Make forwarding your audio materials easy.

Encourage your subscribers to forward a link to their friends or family members. Again, the key is to brand the advice properly. Anyone that listens to the file should know your name, your website address, and your contact information.

If you are unsure about a topic for your audio materials, interview several of your satisfied customers. Your customers can be your best sales people. Let them help you. Contact them, and ask them to see if they would be available for a short phone interview. Most of them will be delighted to have an opportunity to be heard.

Opt-In List Building Is A Provable SuccessThere has been a lot of talk about the reality of success regarding opt-in lists. Due to this talk there have been many marketers partaking in surveys conducted to ensure that website promotion through opt-in list building is not just internet hype. The results obtained in these surveys have clearly shown that opt-in list building is still the hottest marketing tool for website promotion.

The surveys are also a means of eliminating some of the internet marketer’s fears based on the technological advancement which might pose as a threat to the success of opt-in list building. It also helps bring new understanding to the huge earning potential that an opt-in list creates.

It is without a doubt that new website owners will have fear with all the SPAM filters making it hard for their prospective clients to receive their mail. However it has been proven that most opt-in list marketers have not been hurt by this technological advancement. This is due to the obvious fact that opt-in list subscribers are not being spammed as they have willingly parted with their email address.

Other fears that have hit the scene of internet marketing in terms of opt-in list building have been that most people are not willing to part with their emails these days. These fears are unfounded as the increase in broadband is making it easier and cheaper for people to get online. Therefore more customers are made available and are indeed willing to part with their email addresses.

The other reason for the success of opt-in list building is that many websites are allowing subscribers to join the opt-in list on the websites own home page. This is making it easier for people to sign up on the mailing list as opposed to having to click on another link to get the option of joining the opt-in mailing list.

Opt-in list building is about giving your potential customer the option and incentive they need to purchase your product or service. It is requires you to have the customer in mind. What are their needs and how can your product provide for those needs? A good opt-list building technique is about getting your customer to have a relationship with you.

Once you have your subscribers email address you have one foot in the door. Your subscribers are like minded people who are in some way interested in your product. Don’t disappoint them by offering something that you cannot deliver. An opt-in list is also a good way to get traffic to your site. The best way that a website can survive is through generating consistent, growing website traffic.

How to Develope an E-Mail NewsletterThe creation of a newsletter is a serious decision because initiating one without the infrastructure and commitment to sustain it can wind up doing more harm than good. Your e-mail newsletter, once launched, will create an expectation among recipients and if you fail to deliver on that expectation it could lead to a backlash as your customers cll your reliability or commitment into question.

The infrastructure you need includes content sources, graphic sources, and the e-mail capacity to send the newsletter. The commitment is eased when you create a timetable that details when the content needs to be concluded, when the graphics need to be completed, and when the newsletter needs to be edited and then ultimately sent.

In choosing your send date, you need to think about the other newsletters your readers are likely to receive and make sure that you do not become just one more newsletter in their inboxes. We recommend you send it during a time of the month when there is traditionally less traffic.

Page 44: Successful business marketing

For example, Tudog sends its e-mail newsletter at the end of each month because most of our competing newsletters are sent either at the beginning or middle of the month. We have found that this increases our readership by approximately 20%.

The construction of a successful newsletter has 6 phases.

They are: 1. Content

The newsletter you send stands or falls on the relevance and quality of the content you incorporate. If your website is meant to entertain you content needs to be entertaining. If it is meant to educate, your content better be educational. Tudog does not believe in using the newsletter for self-promotional purposes, as we think that readers rapidly grow tired of reading commercials and self-serving material.

There are other forums to engage in self-promotion. Your newsletter is a service to your customers and needs to be written from the perspective of what they need, and not from the view of how it can serve you. By having your newsletter serve your customers, it will ultimately serve you too.

2. FrequencyYou need to decide how often you are going to issue your newsletter. There are two primary considerations that need to make up the decision. The first is how often your customer base would engage you newsletter. If your sector is flooded with newsletters, you may conclude that there is an excess of reading material and that a quarterly newsletter is appropriate.

Conversely, you may notice that there is both an absence of other newsletters and a hunger for information, leading you to conclude that a bi-weekly newsletter would provide you with an excellent opportunity. The second consideration is your internal capacity. You do not want to create an expectation for a newsletter that exceeds your production capacity. How many newsletters you are able to release each month needs to be the underlying driver to the decision how often your newsletter is released.

3. DesignHow your newsletter looks is crucial not only because it represents your company, but also because it could determine how people receive the newsletter and whether or not they are drawn to read it. A well designed newsletter includes a clear delineation of all areas of content, integrated, relevant images, and an identity that is consistent with your company's identity. It is important that you view your newsletter as an extension of your company and that its personality is representative of the image you transmit to your sector.

4. DatabaseYour database is the list of people to whom you send your newsletter. Your list should be extracted from your client/customer base, prospective clients/customers, and your sector influencers. You should make sure that everyone receiving your e-mail newsletter either requested it or has a way to be removed from your list (clearly and easily marked in your e-mail). Your newsletter can be sent via snail mail, but the costs of printing and postage make e-mail a much more realistic and cost effective often.

Using e-mail, you are able to send your newsletter as HTML, text, or in PDF format. You should select your format based on customer preferences. Tudog uses PDF after our inquiries indicated that our clients were most interested in receiving our newsletter in that format. You clients/customers may prefer a different format, but it should be noted that the content, design, and frequency are not influenced by format.

Page 45: Successful business marketing

5. MarketingYour newsletter needs marketing support so that it can reach out to a wider audience and better serve your company as a marketing tool. The support it receives can be as simple as being listed on your website (with a sign-up option) to advertising and special attention. Tudog markets its website by permitted reprints of our articles in magazines and other newsletters, drawing attention to the company, our expertise, and that our newsletter offers continuing exposure to the ideas and hints we publish.

6. TestingWe recommend that you test your newsletter before you send it out to your widest audience so that you can benefit from the feedback of your test group and ultimately send out the best newsletter possible. You should select a random group of people (between 50-200) to send your newsletter to, alongside a brief questionnaire asking for reviews on your look and content. Once you have their responses and incorporate some of their comments, you will know your newer version is close to the needs and wants of your target market.

Your e-mail newsletter is an excellent way to reach out to and become meaningful to your clients/customers. Embark on an e-mail newsletter only if you have the resources and commitment to sustain it. Done properly, it is a powerful and continuing tool for exposure and reinforcement of your expertise.

How To Become An SEO NinjaEvery website listed in the search engines has a position, or ‘ranking’, and each one of these rankings can change very quickly, in some cases as often as weekly or even daily. One day your website’s in a good position, then the next you’re wondering what happened to it.

Staying on top of this situation is a must for any SEO professional – you need to become a search engine ninja. If that’s what you want to do, then you need to keep these things in mind at all times:

1. Good SEO requires frequent updates and ranking checks.

You might have a good spot today, but all it takes is for a few new sites to open, and before you know it you’re back down at the bottom. If you pay attention to your rankings, then you have a shot at fixing things that go wrong before your rankings fall too far.

2. You should check all your links weekly to make sure they work.

Maintain high-quality, relevant reciprocal links and check them weekly to make sure they’re working. Remove any dead links, as search engine crawlers may mark you down if they find them on your site.

3. Tweak and assess your website on a daily basis.

You need to continually assess and tweak your listing to keep your site in its proper place – that is, at the top. This ensures that your site is in the best position possible, and helps you keep your competitive edge.

4. Maintain the content on your website.

Update your content weekly at the very least, to make sure that search engine crawlers come back frequently. Even the smallest changes will be picked up on by the search engines and will help to maintain your ranking. If you can’t write, find someone who can: you need content.

Page 46: Successful business marketing

5. Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in SEO.

If you can’t decide what you should be doing or you don’t want to keep up with SEO on your own, you could consider hiring a specialist. Consulting with an SEO specialist will still allow you to make your own changes to your website and learn which things work best, but you’ll have someone to answer your questions if you need them.

You should review your SEO techniques at least every few months, to see how the algorithms have changed and to devise new plans and strategies for increasing your rankings based on those changes. Any SEO ninja will tell you that there are only really two major search engines that you need to worry about: Google and Yahoo.

You can do well even if you only have the time or energy to focus on these two engines. Being an SEO ninja is hard work, but it can be very rewarding if you’ve got the dedication for it.

Video Marketing For Free TrafficUsing video marketing to drive traffic to your web site is an online marketing strategy many small business owners and internet marketers are beginning to embrace, with much success. Having a traditional website only allows you to reach those people who first find your website. However, combining video, social networking and some simple video marketing techniques can drive hordes of qualified visitors to your website.

First, let’s forget the silly videos you’ll find all over YouTube of kids running into fences and demonstrating the newest dance move. While that kind of video can bring in hundreds of thousands of views, it won’t bring the targeted traffic you need.

Instead, consider making a video tightly targeted towards your niche. A real estate agent might make a video introducing herself and showcasing a few of her available homes for sale. A night club might make a video “commercial” with soundbites from partygoers. A software developer might make a video demonstrating his latest application.

Because Google and other search engines are beginning to give videos hosted on sites like YouTube preferential search engine ranking, it’s quite possible your video could end up on the first page of search results for your targeted keyphrase. This is incredibly powerful and not to be overlooked, as this is what will make your video marketing efforts well worth the time you invest in them.

Consider that YouTube itself may not have a huge market of people looking for videos on “Oakland real estate.” But if your video titled “Oakland Real Estate” made the first page of Google search results (again, due to the preferential search results video is receiving in the search engines) you’d benefit from the hundreds of people who search for that term in Google seeing your video as the #1 result and ,in turn, watching your clip.

With the preferential treatment videos are receiving in search results, the question then becomes, “How do I move people from watching my video on YouTube to actually visiting my website?”

This is simple. Bribe them, at the end of your marketing video.

What follows are some ideas: Offer them something for free at your site (a consultation, a report, free drink, demo version, MP3

download, etc.)

Page 47: Successful business marketing

Poll them or ask them a question they need visit your site to answer. People love to give their opinion. You can combine with the free offer, above, by giving them the freebie upon completion of the poll or question. This is invaluable for market research.

Leave ‘em hanging. Don’t tell the whole story on your YouTube hosted video – instead, tell them just enough to incite curiosity. Then, instruct them to visit your site for the complete story or answer.

Each of these ideas are intentionally broad can be focused indefinitely and molded to fit your target market.

The key here is catching your audience while they’re hot; directly after having watched our video and giving them a reason to continue on to your website. The truth is that if you don’t, most will simply click through to another video or search result. Capitalize on their attention and tell them where to go and what to do next – you’ll be surprised at how many will comply!

Even if you’re no Spieldberg (I know I’m not) you can produce traffic sucking videos with these simple methods.

Making Your Own Marketing Youtube VideoThere was a time when the internet was used only for research. As the popularity of the internet grew, so did the way that it was used. Today, millions, in fact billions, of individuals rely on the internet for entertainment.

If you are one of those individuals, there is a good chance that you have heard of YouTube before. YouTube is an online video website that allows website visitors to view homemade videos and much more, but that is not all that you can do with YouTube. If you wish, you could also make and share your own video http://www.best-itunes.info/

Making your own video? That sounds like fun doesn’t it? A large number of internet users, ones of all different ages, are making the decision to make their own videos. Many of these videos are used to share information with others, showcase a favorite scene from one of their favorite television shows, express their beliefs, or just make a comedy video. If you are interested in making your own video, whatever the purpose of that video is, you are advised to start thinking about video ideas.

Start thinking about video ideas? Yes. That is what you will need to do. Unfortunately, too many individuals read too much into making online videos. This does not necessarily involve their video content, but how the video will be made and uploaded to the system. If you are planning on making a video for YouTube, you can relax and worry about other things. This is because the uploading process, used by YouTube, is probably one of the easiest one that you will find online.

Of course, the first step will be to make your video. To do this, you will need a standard video recording device. These devices most commonly include camcorders and webcams. As previously mentioned, you can make just about any type of video that you want. However, it is important to remember that your video will be seen by thousands of internet users, at the least. Make sure your video will be appropriate. If you plan on putting any graphic materials or foul language in your video it may be a good idea to make note of it in the video’s title. Later on, you should be able to make this title.

When making your video, it is also important to note that YouTube has a number of limitations. Those limitations include the length of your video and the size of your video’s file. YouTube currently requires that your video be no more than ten minutes in length. It is also required that your videos be less than 100MB, in size.

Page 48: Successful business marketing

However, aside from their other rules, stipulated in their terms of use agreement, there are no other restrictions. This means that you can create as many videos as you want to. In fact, if you would like to make a video that is longer than ten minutes, you can do so by making it a two part video.

With YouTube, you must be able to save your video using a moving making software program. There are a number of different programs that you can use, such as MovieMaker and IMovie. These programs can easily be obtained, but most computers, especially newer ones, already have the software programs installed. Once you open your video on your computer, with one of the previously mentioned software programs, you should be able to edit and save your video. Of course, you do not have to edit if, if you do not want to.

To upload your video to YouTube, you must first sign up to be a member, if you haven’t already. It is free to sign up for a membership. The signup process is just used to attach your information to your videos and keep track of all of them, especially if you decide to upload more than one.

Once you signup for YouTube, you should see an option that will allow you to create or upload your own videos. You will need to follow those directions. Depending on the type of internet connection your have, your videos could be uploaded and ready for viewing in as little as a few minutes.

Advertising

Advertising with Pay Per Click Search EnginesBoth pay-per-click and SEO are targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible. One of the differences is that it takes minutes to set up a pay-per-click campaign versus months for a good SEO campaign.

Pay-Per-Click is a simple type of paid advertising that most search engines, including some of the largest ones, now offer. It requires a bid for a "per-click" basis, which translates to your company paying the bid amount every time the search engine directs a visitor to your site. There is the added bonus that when a per-click site sends your website traffic, your site often appears in the results of other prevalent search engines.

As with all marketing campaigns, there are advantages and disadvantages. If you understand the process and monitor your pay-per-click campaign frequently, it can be very effective. One of the greatest advantages is that you never have to tweak your web pages to change your position in search engine results, as you must do in a typical SEO campaign. What you do have to do in a pay-per-click campaign is pay a fee.

Page 49: Successful business marketing

Another advantage is the simplicity of the pay-per-click process. You just bid and you're up and running. It doesn't demand any specific technical knowledge, though the more you know about search engines and keywords, the easier - and more effective - the process will be.

The downside is that pay-per-click is essentially a bidding war. A higher bid than yours will lower your position on search engine results. This means that you will have to raise your bid to regain your position - which can obviously become quite expensive, especially if you are bidding on a popular keyword.

In order to determine if pay-per-click is a cost effective form of marketing for your business, you must do some computing to figure out how much each visitor to your site is worth. You can compute this value by dividing the profit you make on your website over a given period of time by the total number of visitors for that same time period. For example, if your site made $5,000 in profits and there were 2,5000 hits, each visitor would be theoretically worth 50 cents. The basic formula is profits divided by visitors.

The figure of 50 cents per visitor is the point at which your business breaks even. The idea, of course, is to show a profit, not to merely cover your costs. Therefore, you are aiming at a figure less than 50 cents per click.

Be aware that the most popular keywords often cost considerably more than 50 cents a click. The only way around this is to bid less for these phrases or you will be paying too much for each individual hit.

The key (pun intended) to success is to learn everything you can about search engine keyword research. The good news is there isn't a limit to the amount of keywords you can add to your bid because additional keywords do not add additional cost. This translates into a lot less hassle for you because there is no need to optimize your site to index a particular set of keywords.

Obviously, some keywords are much more effective than others are, but they will not cost you anything except time to set-up your account in your pay-per-click bid. Of the popular search engines that offer pay-per-click, one called Overture provides an online tool that will give you the data on how often particular keywords are entered into their search engine. They also offer suggestions for keywords after you enter a description of your site.

In pay-per-click, this written description is crucial. You must understand that the object of your description is not to generally attract visitors, but to be as specific as possible so that only those visitors who are likely to buy your service or product go to your site.

You must use expert marketing copy to guarantee that your description is both precise and enticing to attract the most ideal candidates to your site. This description is your most powerful tool to insure that your bid is profitable.

Another essential element of pay-per-click advertising is that you constantly monitor your bid. It is very important that you bear in mind that the results of the top search engines providing pay-per-click advertising, which are Overture and Adwords Select, usually appear on other popular search engines. Because of this, the competition for top ranking is intense, and very often you will find that the bidding price balloons too high for pay-per-click to yield a profit.

If this happens, it is advisable to withdraw your bid on that particular keyword and try another one. Remember: when you pay too much per click to make a profit, you are in essence losing the bidding war.

Since losing is not acceptable, you must have a plan in place to closely track the effectiveness of your keyword. It is advisable to monitor your keywords on at least a monthly basis.

Page 50: Successful business marketing

Not only is careful monitoring important, but the analysis of visitor behavior can produce invaluable knowledge about consumer motivation, habits, and trends. Expert monitoring and consumer analysis is essential to your overall business needs, and will also insure that your pay-per-click campaign is a success.

How To Effectively Advertise on CraigslistAdvertising on Craigslist is worthwhile for just about any business offering products or services. Whether these products are offered through ecommerce websites or physical stores, the business owners can see financial gains through advertising on Craigslist.

Firstly unlike other advertising opportunities there is very little risk involved in posting on Craigslist. With the exception of job postings and housing postings in specific markets, advertising is free on Craigslist.

Users are asked to agree to the terms of service of the community and are expected to follow specific guidelines when posting advertisements but there are no financial obligations to those placing advertisements on Craigslist. This means those who post advertisements do not have to be concerned with whether or not the advertisement they place will meet their expectations in terms of sales generated.

Reaching Potential Customers on CraigslistAnother reason why posting advertisements for products or services on Craigslist is so worthwhile is the likelihood of reaching a large audience of potential customers. A review of the Craigslist fact sheet reveals pertinent information regarding the amount of traffic the website receives.

According to this information Craigslist receives approximately four billion page views each month with ten million people using Craigslist each month. From these statistics it is clear that advertisements placed on Craiglist are likely to receive at least some attention from potential clients.

With so many visitors using Craigslist each month the advertising possibilities are limitless, however, there are no guarantee any of these visitors will be interested in your products or services. Like any marketing campaign, your advertisements on Craigslist must be intriguing, informative and in a location where you will reach your target audience.

Finding Your Target Audience on CraigslistWe’ve already discussed the number of visitors using Craigslist each month but the key to taking advantage of these numbers is to target your advertising in a way aimed at reaching your target audience as opposed to a wide audience of individuals who have no specific interest in your products or services.

It is much more worthwhile to reach a small audience of those with a keen interest in your products or services than to reach a much larger audience of those who are not interested. Those who have an interest in your products or services are your target audience.

The key to reaching your target audience on Craigslist is placing your advertisement in the most appropriate locations. Craigslist has a specific section for businesses to advertise their services. This section is broken down into a number of categories.

Those who are in the business of computer repair would be wise to place their advertisement in the computer section as opposed to the automotive section because individuals looking for computer help will naturally migrate to the computer section.

Page 51: Successful business marketing

It may sometimes be appropriate to place an advertisement in more than one section. This is acceptable as long as it does not cross the line to spamming the section.

If there is not a specific section for the products or services offered by your business there are a couple of options. Business owners can place an advertisement in the section for small business advertisements where it might be found by those doing a search in this section. Alternately the business owner can contact Craigslist to suggest the addition of a new category. They might be willing to oblige if they believe this category warrants an addition.

The Difference between Advertising and SpammingAdvertising on Craigslist is one thing but spamming is quite another. Placing an advertisement in an appropriate section of Craigslist is acceptable; however, placing the same advertisement in nearly every section of Craigslist websites for a number of different geographical regions is considered spam. Spam is ineffective for a number of reasons.

First of all potential customers who see a particular advertisement in a number of different locations are likely to recognize the spamming techniques and be less inclined to patronize this business. Also, if Craigslist detects the practice of spamming they may delete all of the postings and could potentially ban advertisements from the individual in the future.

The Basics of Magazine PrintingReading magazines or newspaper has been a part of our life ever since these printed materials came into circulation. Every image, text or message written and printed in these materials have continuously informed and amazed us.

But have you ever bothered to take a moment in your busy life and wonder, even for just a minute or two, how these stunning pieces of art came into existence? Is it easy to produce these magazines and newspapers? Do they use special machines? How much does it cost to print one copy of a magazine?

Well, those questions will be best left for professionals to answer. However, there are certain factors you can take note of when considering printing a magazine for your business or for any event for that matter.

Just like any other print job, magazine printing needs careful and proper planning to ensure that the finished product will look exactly the way you want it to be. First off, it is essential that you organize all your files as missing images, wrong files or lost pages can distress your prepress process and upsurge your printing cost.

Today, with the advancements in printing technology it is much easier to get print jobs done unlike in the past when printers and individuals alike are just starting to get used to the digital world. If there are write-ups and stories to include in your magazine, be sure to proofread them beforehand to avoid having typographic errors.

Likewise, if you need to take some photos, do them ahead of time as there are times when you are not satisfied with the snapshots and you need to retake them. If you are on a tight schedule, going out there and taking those pictures again can be laborious and costly on your part.

Additionally, no one wants a magazine with text hanging off the page or images sucked into the gutter. For this reason, it is important that you talk to your printer and make sure that they understand what you want for your magazine. Do not settle for anything that is only good.

Page 52: Successful business marketing

Aim for the best when it comes to your magazines. After all, you want the most out of your money, so make sure that you are well prepared and informed before you plunge into your magazine printing project.

The bottom line is to prepare all your files ahead of time and work carefully with your printers in order to stick with your schedule and produce magazines that meets your needs and desires. After all, how you organize and manage your magazine printing project will affect your print jobs today and beyond.

Finance

How To Get Out Of Debt More QuicklyPay more than the required payment (make extra payments in the manner your lenders prescribe – so you don't lose out because of computer errors, etc.) – focus on your highest rate debt first.

Bi-weekly payments are an excellent means to pay extra principal almost painlessly – if your paydays are weekly or bi-weekly, and if there are no fees involved, and if you deal with a reputable money handler. A person who pays ½ of the required monthly payment bi-weekly makes the equivalent of 13.051 payments in an average year.

The person who does so, pays the loan off early, and pays significantly less interest – especially on a mortgage loan (a person who pays a ½ payment bi-weekly can reduce a 30 year mortgage by more than 7 years, and save many thousands of dollars in interest). If you wish to match the bi-weekly advantage, but still make monthly payments, multiply your required monthly payment by 13.05 and divide by 12. Pay that amount each month.

Highest rate debt first. If you have several debts, pay as much as you can on you highest rate debt and the minimum required payments on your other debts. As you pay off one debt, add the amount you were paying toward it to your next highest rate debt, and so on.

Often times, this technique is much more effective and efficient than refinancing – even at a lower rate.

If you receive a pay raise or a bonus, apply most of it towards any debt that you have. You already know that you can live without the extra money. Put it to good use and draw down some debt.

If you have the opportunity to work some overtime, use that money to help pay off your debt. Consider taking a second job to earn some money to help pay off your credit card debt.

Clean out your closets and have a yard sale or sell on eBay. Take the profit and pay off that debt.

Cut every corner that you can. Make your lunch at home and bring it with you to work. Skip the coffee, soda or candy bar that you normally have every day.

Throw your change in a jar at the end of the day. Every month put the money in the bank and use it help pay off your debt.

Go an extra week or two without that haircut. Don’t go out to the movies (or at least cut back). Cancel your cable subscriptions.

Page 55: Successful business marketing

If you have a home phone and a cell phone, get rid of one (I cancelled my home phone years ago).

Look around. I am sure you can find ways to cut back and save an extra hundred or two hundred dollars each and every month. Use this to pay down that debt and get out of the hole.

Make sure you always meet up with the minimum monthly payment on your card if you can’t always pay the balances of your credit card each month.

Make sure that you don’t exceed your monthly limit. If you can keep to 50% of your limit or less it’s better.

Make sure you do away with account you don’t use most especially accounts with high annual fees and high interest rates.

Tips on Securing A Good Value Personal LoanBe sure to ask for quotes not only from your current bank or any other nearby, but also from other finance companies, and online lenders as well. Make sure the lenders you enquire from aren't looking up your credit rating unless you're ready to proceed with them alone. Any more than four credit checks in one month looks suspect, and may affect your credit rating. Ask if they're going to check your credit-rating first, to be on the safe side.

You will be surprised to find that loans offered by online money-lending companies are often more convenient and with less restrictive conditions than those offered by banks. This is because banks earn money by a number of different means, as opposed to online lenders, whose primary income is a direct result of the amount of money they lend.

Depending on how bad your credit history is, it may be very difficult to find unsecured loans, as most lenders will impose very high rates, and others will simply reject your application.

Although it is still possible to find convenient low-rated unsecured or bad credit loans, the chances of that are very small.

Page 56: Successful business marketing

The smartest choice is to look for a secured loan instead; there are a lot of lenders willing to offer you bad credit loans at low rates if you have any collateral to offer them as a warranty of payback. Depending on the amount of money you are borrowing, lenders will take your car or house as security and happily allow you to get your loan.

Have in mind that it is always better to pay back the money you borrowed as soon as you are able to.

Try to choose among those loans that allow you to make early payments; the quicker you pay back, the less interest you pay. On the other hand, if you extend the duration of the loan, you will have to pay much more money in interest.

Although you may not actually take out a loan, it will be shown in your record and may look very bad on your history when applying for another in the future, so limit yourself to asking for quotes and apply only for that loan offer you consider to be the best. If your application gets rejected, however, you may move on to the next best offer on your list.

In your research it's advisable to review if the provider is a member of the Finance Industry Standards Association (FISA), which follows the confidentiality guidelines set out for this association, and also those providers registered under the Data Protection Act (DPA) who adhere to the letter of the law from the Data Protection Register.

How To Balance Money and Finance In Families“I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living.”

---John D. RockefellerMartha was having a restless night. The other day she got a billing statement from her credit card company that told her she was behind schedule on her monthly payment. She also felt harassed every time a debt collector would call her at the office and at home, sometimes even in odd hours of the night.

They were also having troubles paying the mortgage and the monthly installments on the new car. Their financial woes are partly due to her husband Ben, who himself admits being a big spender. Ben is an avid car enthusiast who spends a lot of money to “spice up” their Japanese car and make it look like one of those street racers in the movie, “Too Fast, Too Furious.”

The money problems have become so big that both Ben and Martha now experience enormous stress and anxiety every single day. Due to their financial difficulties, they now quarrel a lot and exchange the blame for falling into the debt trap. It is no wonder that money is now one of the leading causes of divorce.

Money, or more appropriately, the lack of money is one of the main reasons for stress and anxiety in marriage. In the United States, the average household has at least $9,200 in credit card debt. The Bens and Marthas hardly know about the strategies and techniques to gain financial success. The common mistake among hard-pressed couples is spending more than they make. Lack of discipline in the use of credit cards also leave many people enslaved to making payments to settle both the principal loan and interest fees.

We all face different challenges and pressures about money. It can be really overwhelming to face these financial problems if nothing is done about them early on. Because of the constant demands to meet our day-to-day living expenses, it also becomes the leading cause of stress and anxiety that can eventually ruin your emotional and physical well-being.

Page 57: Successful business marketing

But money should really help us improve our lot and not make our lives miserable. In order to lessen the pressure brought about by financial problems, it may be helpful to read and consider the following financial management advice:

First, develop a realistic budget. This is the very first step you need to take to regain control over your finances . Make a list of all the money you owe or bills to pay --- then decide to pay them one by one based on your fixed paying capacity.

Also, it is good to make a list of all other sources of income. The next step is to write down all your “fixed” expenses like mortgage, rent, car payments, electricity, credit cards, and insurance premiums.

After that, determine just how much money you have left to know exactly how much you have left to spend on other things. It is important to stick to your payment schedule and not create other payables before you finish paying for the priority accounts.

It is highly recommended to keep a small notebook that you can use to list down all your expenses. With the small notebook, you can track where your money goes. In addition, using a computer budgeting program can be a helpful tool for balancing your checkbook.

The second step is to teach your kids about money matters. Children nowadays are easily lured by commercials and advertising gimmicks. With peer pressure and the constant barrage of fads, children may end up losing their allowance to some things that they don't really need.

It is never too late to teach kids about money matters. They must be told how hard it is to earn money and that not everything they see in the toy store or on television should or can be bought for them. Children around eight years old can already be trained to manage their allowances and to start their savings.

Another step towards financial freedom --- believe or not --- is to contact your creditors. Explain your situation to them and ask them to restructure your loans. Ask them to present an option for debt consolidation but make sure that the interest rates are manageable and the monthly payments are withing your capacity to pay.

Also, try to convince your creditors to design a modified payment scheme that will lead to a win-win financial situation.

Cost-cutting measures should also be an automatic undertaking if you want to regain financial freedom. You can save money by doing simple things like turning off the lights when not using it... scheduling your trips or errands to the grocery stores... or simply cutting down on junk food purchases.

All these will help in lowering your monthly expenses. One sure way to cut down costs is to lessen your spending on entertainment. For example, you can stop that magazine subscription or choose a cheaper cable program with less channels.

After you have enough savings, you may choose to consult a financial advisor regarding investment options and instruments such as mutual bonds and stocks.

Your financial situation shouldn't go from bad to worse. You have options and you can take control of your money. But regaining your financial freedom will depend on your goals and how disciplined you are in achieving those goals.

The key to financial freedom and debt-free living rests entirely on you. Being free from debt is, after all, a big stress relief.

How To Find Government GrantsEach year, the federal government gives out over 150 billion dollars in Government funded grant programs to businesses and individuals. These grants are provided to assist businesses in growing and providing jobs, and to help individuals raise funds for education or other personal needs.

Despite the abundance of grant programs available, many businesses and individuals are finding it difficult to locate grants.

The system can be very confusing. Luckily, there is progress being made. The federal government actually has a website, Grants.gov that you can visit and you can search by agency, category, or browse the available grant opportunities.

Now, this is a step in the right direction, but as you will see, their site is still hard to use and the search function is well, somehow lacking.

Also, this is not a complete list of all grant programs that are available. You will likely need to employ additional research methods to uncover many government grant opportunities.

When researching for Government Grants, one of the best resources for research is the Internet. Try searching for the type of grant that you are hoping to apply for.

Try putting the type of grant in quotes - ex. "grants for single mothers", and search with the quotes. This instructs most modern search engines to search for the exact phrase. This will often times narrow down the results to a more manageable size for research.

If this fails you, you may try visiting another government run website, cfda.gov - The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. You may try searching this for related government grant programs. There is a third government run website that may help as well, located at firstgov.gov.

If you still cant find information on the type of grant that you require, there are many commercial products available that maintain private databases of grant opportunities. Usually, this costs money, but the small fee might be worth it if it saves you time and helps you find the grant that you are searching for.

Once you have found information on the grant that you hope to apply for, it would be a good idea to contact the funding organization and verify the details of the grant.

A lot of times, information is out of date and you want to make sure that you have the most recent data before you attempt to apply for a grant. A phone call or letter to the group that funds that grant could save you a great deal of time and aggravation later on if you wind up with out dated information.

There are numerous government grant programs available. Locating them can be tricky, but is often times well worth the effort. With diligent research, you should be able to uncover some good opportunities for federal government grants.

Make Money

How to Make Money With No InvestmentIn the begining it's a tentative situation. Your first few deals are small potatoes. To make money with no investment is not entirley accurate. Everyone has access to something. Some small amount that will be allocated for wealth building. I think back to when I was starting from scratch and at the time my cynical attitude made it painful, but looking back I remember the experience fondly.

It's challenging to make money with no investment capital but when you are starting from scratch you have nothing to lose. With your back to the wall, you can go forward confidently in the knowledge that you literally have little to lose.

Curiously, all great wealth once began from scratch. To make money with no investment capital is exactly the situation you need to be in if you want to succeed and get that first million under your belt.

You see, it's not how much you started with that counts. It's not how much you have made that counts. What matters is the system. HOW you do it. If that is based on sound principles then you will never fear poverty again.

I could make money with no investment capital if you dropped me in any free City on the planet. I guarantee you within a few months I'd be living well (providing I spoke the language).

Starting from scratch, the first thing I would do is find a market. No money, but I have my self. I can offer a service. As soon as I make a few hundred dollars saved, I would begin applying the principles of opportunity investment. I would trade up and up until I had borrowing capacity.

I would use the leverage that borrowing allows me to manufacture obscene compounding returns in real estate and large ticket items like used trucks and yachts. I would work until I was comfortable, then start spending on myself.

You are in a better situation than my scenario. You have friends, contacts, and knowledge of your town. You have experiences and intimate perceptions of the existing markets in your home town. All you need is the knowledge to make it happen.

To make money from scratch with no investment capital is easy. Don't be fooled into thinking your situation is hopeless. You need knowledge, tools, and skills. It's time you took a real shot at your first million, believe me the second and third will be easy.

"The pain of discipline is less then the pain of regret" -- Martin Thomas

How to Make Money from Affiliate EbooksThe standard way to make money from Ebooks is to sell them to our website visitors and our mailing list.

But what if we don’t have many website visitors, and don’t have a huge mailing list?

How do we sell them? And is selling the Ebook the only way to make money out of them?

Let’s look at some other ways to make money from Ebooks.

One way is to give them away! But how does that make money for me? You may ask!

Let’s say we have an Ebook that we acquired from someone else and we have full re-sale rights.

Inside this Ebook there are usually one or two, (maybe more) active links to the affiliate program that we got the Ebook from.

These links will be traceable links to either the affiliate that sold or gave us the Ebook or the owner of the Affiliate program.

Now if we click on one of those links and go to the affiliate program, find something we need and buy it! Who gets the commission for the sale?

The person that gave/sold us the Ebook!

Now we can just sell the Ebook and make a few dollars, but if we want more money we have to sell more Ebooks, right? The answer is yes and no.

Let’s look at us selling more Ebooks first, we sell more and make a little bit more money, those Ebooks are going to go out to more people, which might click on the link in it, when they do, who gets the commission on any sales? The answer is the affiliate who gave/sold us the Ebook.

It’s plain to see who is leveraging and earning more money for less effort isn’t it?

So what we do is become an affiliate! Then go about the business of giving our Ebook away to as many people as possible, who will then try to sell it to others, who will in turn do the same, etc… so this way WE are the ones using leverage, and making more money!

But wait a minute! Why would anyone want to do that for us, wouldn’t they think like us and become an affiliate? The answer is YES! That’s the idea!

Now, they join as an affiliate through us, and put their affiliate URL in the Ebook and then they promoted as vigorously as we did! This is the ultimate goal for us! BECAUSE, they joined the affiliate program through us, they are now a “second tier” in our affiliate account.

So now, not only do we get a large percentage in commission from anyone that buys something through our affiliate link in the Ebooks we promote, but we also get a small percentage for any sales generated by our second tier!

This can go on and on depending on the particular affiliate program, but it’s plain to see the “viral effect” this would have on our affiliate link.

Many people will be willing to add our Ebook to their emailing list as a way of adding value to their customers, if it’s free then why not! This will send our links all over the planet, along with the steps outlined above.

This is one way that Ebooks can be used to make money, there are many, many other ways, so we should always think about other ways and means to leverage our efforts this is the secret to successful marketing.

How To Create Your Own Ebooks Or Special ReportsSelling products online has become very lucrative for many netpreneurs. Ebooks and special reports are amongst the most popular type of downloadable products. These files in written form, can be very useful when they convey desireable information.

Indeed, information is what fuels the internet. People log online to search for information. If you have the information they need, they will come to you. If this information holds a lot of value, you could sell the same and make a good profit. Since words are still the primary tools of communication on the web, information is often conveyed in written form.

Preparing written works is not easy. For starters, not everyone can write well. Those who can may not take the time to embark on such an undertaking.

Fortunately, there are some alternative routes you can take which will allow you to prepare your own eBook or special report without having to write down a single word. Let's take a look at 5 of these options.

Gather some articles and compile them in a single volume. This would be the easiest way to prepare your own digital product. These articles can be PLR works which grant you the right to alter them and use the content anyway you please. They may be articles written by other people, which you have compiled from renowned websites like or http://goarticles.com/.

If you choose the latter, just make sure that you respect the terms and conditions of their usage, primary of which is the inclusion of the original author's resource box. Make sure that each article organically and logically flows to the next. You can ensure this by studying the articles you want to include.

Conduct an interview with an expert and record the same. Thereafter, hire someone from http://rentacoder.com/, http://elance.com/ or http://guru.com/ to transcribe the conversation you had with the said expert. You'd be surprised how quickly you can compile 50 to 200 pages worth of essential reading material using this method.

Buy an existing eBook or special report that comes with private label rights. This would enable you to alter the contents of the same, and even name yourself as the author of the work. You could add some materials as you feel are necessary, or better yet, you could combine two, three, or even ten of these PLR eBooks or special reports to come up with an encyclopedic tome of information worthy of some notice.

Hire a ghostwriter to prepare an eBook or a special report for you. There are many freelance writers looking for work at the websites we mentioned above. It's just a matter of selecting the best writer for the job at a price that will not be too daunting to your budget. Expect to pay $200 to $1,000 for a 50 page eBook.

Here's a novel approach. Join an internet marketing forum, and ask a question. A good example would be "How Could You Profit From The Internet With A $0 Budget." For certain, you'll get some amazingly enlightening replies.

Compile these replies until you'll have enough materials to come up with an eBook or a special report. Ask the posters' permission to avoid any copyright issues. Chances are, they'll agree, provided that a link to their respective websites are included in your work.

Lack of writing prowess, or the time to write, is never a bar for the production of your own digital products. All you need is a little imagination, and hopefully, the suggestions above have stirred up some concepts in your mind.

How To Write A Sales Letter That SellsWith a crowded global marketplace, and with thousands of products and services crowding supermarket shelves, shop windows, and magazine pages, more and more companies are employing clever methods to market their wares.

Advertisements run for mere seconds on television, but with enough noise and color to both attract and annoy prospective customers. Billboards crowd city skylines and feature models and movie actors endorsing a product they might not even care about. How can you break through the thousands of marketing ploys and make your voice heard?

Although advertisements, billboards, and sound bytes can often be clever and attractive, they are now so abundant, many prospective customers will actually be saturated with them. Hard sell methods, in fact, can turn customers away, as some companies can alienate people with their aggressive marketing strategies. This fact is something you can use to your advantage. Your marketing strategy should simply be more personal, and should address customers individually.

Such a method may appear difficult, but with a sales letter, it can be possible. A sales letter is simply a letter addressing individual customers, advertising your products and services, introducing your company to a wider market, and giving more people the chance to purchase your wares. This may seem simple, but a good sales letter is actually difficult to write. It should persuade, and not force people to pay attention to you. It should be attractive, but not annoying or showy. It should also be well worded: simple enough to be understood, but forceful enough to be convincing.

Before you attempt to write that sales letter, take note of the following tips for effective sales letter writing.

When you start a sales letter, address the person directly, say, as Mr. Orlando Griffith, or Ms. Elizabeth Sparrow. Avoid “To whom it may concern” or “Dear Sir or Madame.” Customers need to know that you care before they care what you know. If your letter is as direct and personal as possible, customers will trust in you more. If you begin your relationship with trust, then you may have more customers who will patronize your products and services for a longer time.

In as few words as possible, build your company’s credibility. If you have quotes from people who have used your products, or people who have availed of your services, then use these quotes sparingly. Your letter has to catch a recipient’s attention within the first few lines. If you praise your company, you can appear narcissistic; if you do it too humbly, you can appear groveling. If you hit the balance, however, you can make customers as excited about your product and service as you are, simply because they believe in the strength and credibility of the company that you represent.

In as simple wording as possible, sell your product or service. You need to show how the product or service benefits the recipient directly. When showing off your wares, use simple language, and don’t be too aggressive.

Customers are sensitive to hard sell methods, and they can easily be turned off by overblown language like “The only product on the market that can offer your car the luxurious shine that it needs, and the look that you desperately want!” Remember: the best advertisements do not make their customers look silly, helpless or stupid. They make their customers appear good, but better after they purchase the product or service.

If you have any incentives, such as discounts or free offerings, to go with your product or service, then mention them explicitly. Scientific studies show that sales increase when customers know that gifts or incentives are involved.

Page 63: Successful business marketing

Make your sales letter as useful as possible. You can include your newsletter, or, better yet, place a sidebar or box with useful information for the recipient. For instance, if you sell fire extinguishers, you can include important emergency numbers in a boxed area of the letter. If you sell ball pens or pencils, you can include a list of the top ten grammatical mistakes people make when they write letters. Chances are, your sales letter can find itself tacked to a bulletin board or pinned on the refrigerator door.

The simpler, but more useful your sales letter is, the easier it will be for you to reach out to your prospective customers and increase your market size. Marketing need not be hard sell to work. It should be personalized and convincing, and it should take note of the customer’s wants and needs. If written well, a sales letter can do exactly that.

How To Set A Price For Your Online ProductInternet marketing, by its very name is about promoting your products online. But to believe that internet marketing is all about, well, marketing, would be quite restrictive.

Assuming that you have already acquainted yourself with the intricacies of product creation as well as the myriad forms of advertising tactics that can be implemented online, we will now discuss a matter that could make or break your success in internet marketing.

Now, what we will be discussing is a subject that many online businessmen have taken for granted. It is that very thing that would connect your business to the affirmative action of your visitors. It is that very thing that would convert your visitors into paying customers.

We’re talking about the price for your product.

How exactly should you price your product? Naturally, you would want to reach a range that would recover the investments you have made for its creation and promotion. This is called the break even point. Anything above the break even point would be considered as your profit. Naturally, again, you would want to attain as much profit as possible.

So these are the two things that determine price:1. How much you have invested; and2. How much you want to earn per item

There are two approaches that are generally used when it comes to pricing. Let’s take a look at them.

1. Price your product a little over the break even point, and rely on the volume of items you will be able to sell.

2. Price your product substantially higher than the break even point, so that every sale would reap some substantial rewards.

If you foresee your product to be a hot seller, then the first approach would be the best one for your needs. You could just rake in your earnings through the several sales you will be able to achieve.

If you foresee slow sales for your product, then the second approach would be more appropriate. Each sale would give you what you need, and you won’t be pressured to sell a lot of items to realize your earnings.

But both approaches have their own shares of problems. Pricing your product too low might just give your prospective customers the impression that your product is of inferior quality. Pricing your product too high would alienate a large segment of the market.

Page 64: Successful business marketing

Personally, I say that you should price your product for what it’s worth. Let the market forces take care of themselves. If you bestow a fair price for your product, you won’t have to worry about the backlash of consequences. Each product is a different case, and it merits special attention when it comes to pricing. Keep this in mind when deciding on the right price for the same.

But here’s a very secret tip: you could use the price of your product to tremendously boost your sales. Yes, you read that right. YOU CAN USE THE PRICE OF YOUR PRODUCT TO TREMENDOUSLY BOOST YOUR SALES. This is through a process called dynamic pricing. Dynamic pricing can create an urgency that would compel people to purchase your product as soon as possible.

There are some tools that would allow you to implement dynamic pricing for your offers. The way it works is that you’d offer a product for an amazingly low price, with a warning that after a specified period of time, the price would increase. This increase would continue until the offer is priced beyond your market’s budget.

For example, an eBook can be offered for a mere $5 today. After 25 hours, its price would increase by $5. And after another 24 hours, the price would again increase by $5… and so on and so forth. The result would be mass hysteria, as the members of your target market would line up in a hurry to purchase your offer while it is cheap.

Dynamic pricing is one of those novel marketing strategies that has proved successful for many online businessmen. It’s worth the try if you want to experience an immediate rush of incoming orders.

How to Sell Your Website Quickly for ProfitsDear Website Owner,

The process of selling a website or domain name can be demanding and time-intensive. Yet with some key tips the process can be made much more simpler and effective.

The first step you must do is determine the value of your website. There are many formulas for reaching a value. It's important to remember that the valuation of a website business differs from a traditional business and that this must be kept in mind when valuating your Internet business. One of the most important factors is website traffic. If a website has no traffic, it has no business.

Just as important are other variables that can affect the value of an Internet business. Information that cannot be gleaned from financial and traffic data -- such as the uniqueness of the business, the conditions of the market, the overall design, the customer experience of the website, and many others. These factors can cause a substantial variation of the value of up to 40% either way. Because of these factors, we recommend a professional appraisal of your website business.

The business community spends over a billion dollars a year for outside business valuations. Not only does this give them important information for the day-to-day operations of their business, it proves invaluable for the sale of their business. Buyers are more likely to trust an independent appraisal as opposed to the seller's own judgment. The appraisal also allows you to avoid the mistake of either undervaluing or overvaluing your website.

The second step is marketing the website. By listing your website business with a third party such as BuySellAussieWebsite you can dramatically increase the chances of receiving the best offer in the shortest time span and is by far the most highly recommended.

When writing the listing for your business there are a few key points to remember. First, always try to list a price. It's fine to use OBO (or best offer) but be sure to list a price along with it.

Page 65: Successful business marketing

Also, be sure to list the net income (profit) and revenue of your website. Even if it's low it's still better than leaving the potential buyer in the dark. In fact, some buyers are looking for websites that are losing money so they can turn them around.

Secondly, try to include a phone number so potential buyers can contact you quickly. Finally, be sure to list anything that isn't obvious to the buyer that adds to the uniqueness of your business, such things as copyrighted works, email lists, and trademarks.

Finally you are ready to make the deal. Remember to be patient. If you have followed these basic fundamentals you can be confident that the sale will go as smoothly as possible.

Driving Memberships Sites To Make You MoneyMembership web sites are great ways to make residual income. Selling information via password protected web sites is a big business, and it has a low barrier to entry, and minimal operating costs. Unfortunately, you aren't the first, or even the thousandth person to realize this. What do you do?

While it's a hot business model, not every membership site will pull people in, and even the ones that do, some don't make a lot of money. There have been far more failures than success stories with membership sites, though part of that is simply keeping track of expectations.

The single most common site crippling and business killing factor though, will surprise you. It's something so elementary that you'll smack your forehead and wonder why people make this mistake, repeatedly.

It's failing to do the market research to ensure profitability.

It's not rocket science. You need to sell what people are already inclined to buy. Don't reinvent the wheel. Don't do this for art's sake – it's commerce.

Identify your target market. Sell them what they're already buying (and thus, already want). Listen to what else they want and expend your range of products and services to meet their demand.

Admittedly, this was an amazing sea change in product launches back in the 1970s, but it's going on 40 years since the concept of market research to tune a product launch hit big business and trickled down to ubiquity. And yet, time and time again, internet squeeze sites keep selling what the owner thinks will sell, not what the market has told him will sell.

The usual excuse is "Well, what am I offering that they can't get elsewhere, buying those products individually?"

Knowing what people are already buying, you have the MUCH easier task of packaging those information products and bundling them together into one location; your time spent packaging and sorting is worth their money. Your willingness to be "eyes ahead" to look for new products in that niche is time they don't have to spend, and in this day and age, time is more precious than money.

This applies if you're selling informational goods, physical goods, subscriptions to newsletters, or services. You have to package what people want so they'll buy them from you, not your competitors, and all you have to do is convince them that you add enough value by saving their time to be worth your monthly membership fee.

Now, differentiation from the competition does take work; look into alternate formats like audio, video and ebooks. Give your consumers choices about how they get their information and how they use it. Offering audio and video formats pays for itself rapidly in increased memberships.

Page 66: Successful business marketing

Next, keep it fresh. Always be on the lookout for something new, something fresh. Focus on giving new, enticing offers to keep those membership fees coming in.

And don't get complacent. We've seen well done membership sites; ones with good site design, great keyword placements, loaded with products people wanted to buy, easy to use, and customers signing up in droves…and all worthless three months later, because the site owner didn't capitalize on the momentum, and run to keep ahead of his customers.

Your typical customer will buy things every four to six weeks; make sure you have something new for them to buy every two weeks or so. Basic rule of shopkeeping; always turn the products on the shelves, or in your case, the product on the web site.

Lastly, solicit feedback from your customers. Work with them. Listen to what they have to say, and adjust course based on it. It's their money, they're just telling you why they want to give it to you. Do this every week or every month, and your paychecks will grow nicely.

Ways To Make Your Own Online VideosIn the recent years, the popularity of online video websites has skyrocketed. Online video websites are websites that not only allow internet users to watch the videos that are hosted on their site, but many also give internet users the opportunity to create their own videos. If you are interested in making your online video, like a large number of individuals are, there are some important factors that you should keep in mind.

What is nice about online video websites is that you can create just about any video you want. A number of popular video websites have rules and restrictions on the content that is allowed; however, it is understandable. These restrictions often prohibit videos with threats and pornographic materials. Even with these restrictions in place, there are still a wide variety of different videos that you can make, but you are still advised to be cautious when doing so.

As previously mentioned, most video sites allow you make and share a video on just about whatever you want. Online, you will find videos that promote particular products, videos that are considered unscripted taping, how-to videos, and personal videos.

When it comes to personal videos, internet users tend to include information about themselves or a funny story. Although this may make for an interesting video, for safety reasons, you need to be concerned with what you are recording and posting.

Video websites are video by millions of internet users, often on a daily basis. This means that there is a good chance that people that you do not even know will be able to find your video and watch it. Since you do not know who will be watching your video, you have no idea what they are like or what their mental status is. You should treat your online videos as if you would when talking to a stranger; you need to be careful with how much information you provide.

If you are making a homemade video, with a personal touch, there is a good chance that you will be the one in front of your camera. In most cases, it is safe to show your own face. Millions of internet video makers have done so, but it is a different story to include your personal information.

In the event that you want to introduce yourself, you are advised only to use your first name. You may even want to think about creating another name to use just for your video, sort of like a pen name. Depending on who watches your online video, it could be risky to put a name to your face.

Page 67: Successful business marketing

In addition to your full name, you never should give your address out. That also includes your city or your state. With motive and means, someone who watches your online video could easily obtain your full address just by knowing the city or the state in which you live in.

The same should be said for your phone number. With a legitimate phone number, someone could easily get your address online. Essentially, if there is something that you do not want a stranger to known about you, do not put it in your online video.

Even though you should not include your personal information in one of your online videos, there are a still a number of individuals who do. These individuals do this for different reasons, but many are looking for online friends or someone to date.

You are advised against using online video websites, such as Google Video or YouTube, for those purposes. If you are looking to find a new friend or a partner, you are advised to rely on online dating websites. Many of those websites have special security measures in place that are designed to keep you safe. Online video websites do not.

By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should be able to use online video websites without any problem. As long as you are cautious about the videos you post, the experience should be a pleasurable one.

How To Profit From Digital Resell Rights ProductsPeople who have a business on the internet have heard of resell rights for digital information products. Information products are big business online because there is always someone getting online or who has been online for a while trying to find information about how to do a particular thing, such as list building.

There are all kinds of resell rights for digital information products that you can use to help you build your business. So how do they help you make money?

One of the fastest ways to make profits online when you don’t have a product or service of your own to sell is with resell rights products. The reason that these are good for making profit is because all you need to do is to secure the resell rights for a product that you want to sell. Then all you need to do is to sell it to your client and you get to keep all of the profits. You won’t have to split the profits with anyone like you would with an affiliate program.

You can find eBooks, software or reports that will offer you resell rights. There are some products that you buy that don’t come with resell rights but the rights can be purchased for a small fee. However, you don’t want to buy just any of the resell rights for digital information products that you find. You want to make sure that you find the right ones.

The best resell rights products to buy are the ones that you can resell for a high price. However, you want to make sure that you find products that are in demand. This is usually a fair indication that the resell rights are not highly converting products because if they were then they would be sold all by themselves. You could make money from these bundled packages but you have to be careful because you may end up finding the one bundled package that will cost you money instead of making you money.

You want to find resell rights for digital information products that are more valuable. You want to make sure that you read reviews if there are any available to read. That is a good way to know whether the resell rights are valuable enough for you to buy them and then sell them. Just be careful about what you buy in terms of resell rights products.

Summary: Can you really make money with resell rights for digital information products? It is very possible and this is one of the fastest ways to make money online. You do need to be careful to find the best resell rights products. There are all kinds of them available but if you get the wrong one you will end up not making any money at all.

If your agent is good enough he will do the job but if you are not satisfied, find another one. The more professional advice you get is better for you.

Like any buyers, compare prices of time share similar to the one you are selling. Selling time share property with a competitive price is beneficial for a quick closing. But ensure that you are not pricing it too low or too high. Find out the usual price given by developers and compare it to your desired selling price. This way, you can compromise and sell your time share property easily.

Selling time share property can be sensitive to price. Investors will always be looking for the right deal that is often priced lower than seller's desired price. If the time share is already older than the other time shares in the market or is less popular during the selling period, this can really affect the pricing.

Page 70: Successful business marketing

Check out any nearby activities and take it into consideration. Local tourist business means more money in the pricing scale which in turn is beneficial to you. Also consider if your unit is near a good view. It can either be a swimming pool, beside the seashore or fronting a beautiful mountainside. This means you can price your time share higher.

In selling your time share property, the best option is to post your listing so that potential buyers can find the benefits of your time share offer. There are time share selling companies that require no commission and gives the owner no hassles and stress in negotiating with a broker.

This is because they will do the negotiating and other processes for you. But be sure to give the complete and accurate descriptions, locations and information regarding your unit in allowing agents to sell your time share property for you.

The farthest reaching campaign will be the best venue for you to sell your time share property to qualified buyers in different countries. Professional internet marketing consultants are provided by time share companies to make your website advertising work for you.

You can find professional help that will also aid you through the selling process. There also are excellent resources for you to help you in the title work and helpful time share sale financing.

You may be duped by these scammers when they offer claims, guarantees and timelines that are unrealistic yet deceiving. Do not agree to anything over the phone or online until you have had the chance to check out the reseller's reputation and experience. Referrals are also good and solid foundations to choosing the right reselling company for you.

At the final stage of selling your time share property, make sure the professional aid you get does not require any additional costs during the closing.

Most importantly, sell time share property with legitimate means. The law will be on your side should anything happen.

Sell time share property to your greatest advantage, make it reliable, easy, legitimate and cost effective. This way you will not only sell time share property quickly but most advantageously as well.

Real Estate Terms – From Condominiums to Deeds of TrustWhen buying or selling a property, it always helps to have a basic understanding of real estate terms. In this on going series of articles, we take a look at definitions starting with “condominium.”

1) Condominium - A type of ownership in real property where all of the owners in a collection of properties jointly own everything except the interior of each property. Accordingly, the jointly area is run by a homeowner’s association, which can assess fees to the owners for improvements, etc.

Page 71: Successful business marketing

2) Contract, or Sales Contract, or Contract of Purchase and Sale – the agreement between buyer and seller. In most jurisdictions it must be in writing in order to be enforceable. It covers such things as the identity of the property, the purchase price, any conditions of the sale, the settlement date or escrow period, when the buyer will occupy the property, etc.

3) Contract for Deed – a written document which provides that Deed does not pass to the buyer until the final payment has been made. In the event of default by the buyer, the property reverts to the seller. (One sees these occasionally. I’ve seen them when an owner was financing the sale of raw land for a buyer.)

4) Deposit, or Good Faith Deposit – an amount of money tendered by the buyer at the time a contract offer is made on real property. The contract spells out who holds it, and circumstances under which the seller gets it, and circumstances under which it’s returned to the buyer. Typically, the seller gets it as part of the purchase price at settlement, or as liquidated damages if the buyer defaults. The buyer usually gets it back if a condition of settlement is not met.

5) Deed – the written document which conveys title to real property. Some states are “record” states and ownership is defined by the deed’s being recorded at the courthouse in which the property lies.

6) Deed of Trust – the document which allows a third party to act for the lender should the lender need to forclose on real property used as collateral for a loan.

As you can image, there are many real estate terms for which you have a general understanding. In our next article, we continue with the terms starting with “Easement.”
