Prerequisites -

Contents This semester work is an independent study period leading to a term project. A distinctive achievement of post graduate study is the independent work which each student undertakes. The production of a dissertation offers students the oppurtunity to experience research, study, reflection, and critical evaluation in a focused area of interest. Each student works with two advisors, one from medicine and one from engineering. The student is expencted to meet with the advisors at least once perweek. The student is expected to work at least 20-30 hours/week under the diredtion of two faculty advisors to gain experience in posing scientific hypothesis, conducting experiments, building information systems, and measuring impact. The project is not considered complete until the student has finished a formal paper on the topic, one that the research preceptor believes as suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal included in the expanded SCI index
