VIP Subseal systems are rapidly spray applied resulting in high daily application rates. VIP Subseal systems are completely seamless even across multiple substrate types and complex substrate shapes eliminating, sheet membrane cutting, joint welding and gluing providing faster application, faster return to service and in-creased security of long term performance.

SubSeal systems cure to become a high- impact and abrasion resistant lining within minutes eliminating weather, construction and back filling damage after installation.

Ras Girtas, Water & Power Projects, initially required a fast curing protec-tive coating system that displayed high physical properties including flexibility and abrasion resistance for their newly constructed digesters at the Ras Laffan STP.

The poor surface quality and finish of the concrete substrate however present-ed significant challenges that needed to be overcome prior to the application of the protective lining system. These remedial steps would add months to the schedule of the project.

VIP Technical Services worked in con-junction with the consulting engineers and developed an innovative solution using Geotextile blanket to eliminate the need for remedial concrete repairs. The innovative solution eliminated two months of remedial concrete repair work.

Major construction projects such as shopping centres have many stake holders requiring cost effective, efficient, long term solutions to protect their assets. Failing waterproofing systems present enormous challenges to rectify and in many below ground applications you only get one chance at doing it properly.

The owners of the Sharjah Mall required a rapid application “set and forget” solution for their below ground waterproofing needs including the below slab and pile head waterproofing and below ground car park waterproofing.

Installation of the SubSeal systems saved significant application time over traditional sheet membranes and allowed back filling and following trades to begin within hours of the installation of the SubSeal System being completed.

HELSINKI UNDERGROUND RAILWAY

The Helsinki Metro Authority were ex-periencing water seepage into some of the metro tunnels. This water seepage was contributing to weakening of the internal tunnel surface.

A solution was sought to minimise the water seepage, control the flow of any water that did enter the tunnel and that would help densify the internal surface of the tunnel.

VIP proposed solidifying and securing the porosity of the existing substrate using QuickBlock LI and then mechan-ically fastening a water dispersion blanket which was then sealed using VIP`s SubSeal membrane system.

The successful system was installed in sections avoiding any disruption to normal daily train operations.

CONDUCTION TUNNEL CUSCO PERU

This 2km x 6.5m water conduction tunnel carried water down 1320 vertical metres. A tough application project at the best of times however this application was made even more challenging by the high levels of residual moisture in the concrete substrate and the 90% humidity in the tunnel.

VIP`s QuickBlock LI was used to secure the concrete substrate from the high residual moisture content before the application of the VIP`s SubSeal SG high performance waterproofing system. The SubSeal system is not negatively affected by high levels of mois-ture during the application and curing process making it an ideal solution for such a challenging application environment.
