Data
• Data coverage allows a comprehensive analysis of places, with indicators organised in three broad categories and twenty sub-categories.
• Local Knowledge contains over 1,500 indicators with national coverage.
• For each sub-category we provide headline indicators and a composite score, for use in our overall analysis of place.
Private space
• Users have the option of including their own locally sourced data within Local Knowledge. The data can be analysed using the system’s easy-to-use toolkit, alongside our own data. Two types of data can be included:
• Thematic data: locally sourced indicators can be added at a variety of spatial levels, from district through to ward and neighbourhood level. Examples of thematic data include crime rates and fear of crime.
• Cosmetic data: point or polygon data can also be included and viewed within the mapping application. Examples of cosmetic data include the location of schools, GP surgeries and land holdings.
