We're so glad you want to learn more about the Chi Omega Dallas Alumnae Chapter! View this email in your browser A note from our new president What an honor it is to be serving as the 2019-2020 president of the Chi Omega Alumnae of Dallas. I became a member quickly after college in our Night Owls group and started volunteering with our Chi Omega Christmas Market (COCM) and haven't missed a year since joining. I'm also a part of our growing Symphonies group. I served as co-chairman of the 2012 COCM, our first year at Fair Park! My Chi Omega journey began when I transferred as a Junior to Texas A&M University - Commerce in the fall of 2000. Recruitment was the week prior to school and I moved into the Chi Omega House the Saturday before my first class. I was the model initiate for Sigma Zeta in January of 2001. I joined the executive board the following day as G.T.B. and the following year as G.N.V. After graduation in December of 2002, I joined the Alumnae and served on the Advisory Board for the next 7 years as Ritual and Personnel Advisory roles. This year I have the pleasure of being the ex officio Member of the Housing Corporation Board for Iota Alpha, and am excited to have the opportunity to again work with an Active Chapter. I married my husband, Michael, in 2016 and we live in Flower Mound. I commute to Dallas daily to work at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in our Foundation Office. I've been at Scottish Rite since 2008, and love every minute of my time with this wonderful organization. We are going to have a great year in Dallas! Our Young Alumnae group has changed their name back to what many of us still called the group, Night Owls! They have an exciting year planned. Special thanks to: September home hostess Kim Kelly and hospitality chairs Carol Hillman and Judy Zurlis for a great kickoff meeting. Dallas Area Recruitment Information Chair (ARIC) Nan McGee and Recruitment Computer Chair Connie O’Neill for processing the paperwork for over 450 Dallas area potential new members. Eloise Meachum, past president, for her endless knowledge and wisdom of all things Chi Omega. Subscribe Past Issues RSS Translate

A note from our Night Owls chairHello! I am Savannah Near and though it feels like most of you have known me since I

could say “Bid Day,” here is a bit of background on me: I grew up in Dallas andattended Highland Park High School. I was a Theta Kappa at Baylor University,

member of PC ’10, and served on the Cardinal Cabinet. I received my master’s inCounseling from Southern Methodist University and started a Ph.D. in Counseling

before I saw the light and decided to take a break from school! I am currently apracticing therapist at Park Cities Child and Family Counseling. Children, adolescents,

and parenting struggles are my specialty areas.

I am thankful to be serving as this year’s Night Owl Chairwoman for the 2019-2020 year. I made it my firstorder of business to change the name from Chi Omega Young Alumnae back to Night Owls, which helps

convey the social nature of our group.

We have an exciting year planned, from Pilates classes to a Galentines brunch! We encourage you to reachout the recent Chi Omega grads (or young adults!) in your life and share our group with them. I have served

on this board for a few years now, and am continuously impressed by the service to sisterhood that theNight Owl Board and members share. Our member base is a diverse group of Chi Omegas, from schools

across the country, and in various professions — truly embodying our Symphony.

My mom, sister, and I are all proud Chi Omegas and are looking forward to serving as the Chairwomen ofCOCM 2020. (You’re going to love our theme!)

In addition to serving Chi Omega, I enjoy serving my community as a member of Junior League of Dallasand Children’s Women’s Auxiliary. I also have a website and Instagram called "Nearly Southern” and go on

many adventures involving biscuits!

Due to the group’s name change, please note our new e-mail: [email protected]
