The "Many Faces" potluck is one of two large JLS PTAevents that bring the community together, and it is the same night as the JLS Open House.So help out if you can, and grab some dinner at the potluck before you head to yourstudent's classrooms to review your student's learning and accomplishments. HOMEWORK HABITATHomework Habitat and late bus service occur during regular (e.g. non­early­release) Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Homework Habitat occurs in the library and runs 3:15­4:25. The late bus will depart from the main parking lot atapproximately 4:30. Please note that students who leave campus after school are not permitted to return to JLS to ride thelate bus home; they must find alternative transportation.

Community NewsPlease join us for this much awaited screening of "The Mask You Live In" on April27th sponsored by the JLS PTA. The screening will be followed by discussion facilitatedby Ashanti Branch, Founder and Executive Director of The Ever Forward Club. He and theClub's work was featured in the film, and we are very fortunate to have him as a specialguest for our middle school parent ed event.

Midtown Bicycle Boulevards: Concept Plans Review MeetingTuesday, March 29, 6:30pm ­ 8:30pm, Ohlone Elementary MP Room, 950 Amarillo Ave.

The City of Palo Alto seeks to improve walking and biking infrastructure for students aswell as pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages. You are invited to attend a public meeting toreview the final draft concept plans for the Amarillo Avenue­Moreno Avenue, Bryant StreetUpdate, Louis Road­Montrose Avenue, and Ross Road Bicycle Boulevards projects. Atthis meeting, the City will provide you with a brief summary of the work that has been doneto­date on these four bikeway projects, discuss some of the challenges that the publicidentified at previous meetings, and provide you with an opportunity to review the draftconcept plans with us. Paly Cheer and Dance try­outs are approaching. The Paly Cheer and Dance Teams are looking for gymnasts, dancers and spirited studentsto try­out for the 2016­2017 squad. We are holding an open workshopon Wednesday March 30th from 3:45­ 5:15 in the Paly Dance Studio for interested middleand high school students. This is a no pressure/no commitment workshop. Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) invites its stakeholders to provide input aspart of the school district's Citizens Advisory Committee for Renaming Schools (RSC). Theschool district authorized the establishment of this committee in early 2016 to research andreview the names of all 17 PAUSD schools and submit recommendations for renamingone or more of the schools for the Board's consideration. The school district invites currentPalo Alto residents, current Palo Alto Unified employees, current Palo Alto Unifiedstudents, graduates of PAUSD, and former employees who worked for PAUSD for aminimum of five years to consider applying for the committee. Applications canbe downloaded from the school district's website. The deadline to submit an application is4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28th, 2016. Completed applications should be sent to:Dr. Glenn "Max" McGee, SuperintendentPalo Alto Unified School District25 Churchill Ave.Palo Alto, CA 94306or emailed to [email protected] The committee will consist of four parents of current students, four members of thecommunity at large, up to four alumni, two administrators, four faculty and staff, and up tofour students. Additional workbetween meetings is likely and may require two to four hours per week. The committee willbe formed by April 11, 2016 and their recommendations will be submitted to the Board byDecember 31, 2016.
