DesignerAs a young girl, Sue Brown knew that she would one day be a designer and have her own small business. Sue is a surface/textile and graphic designer born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. Her first sketches were
created in her childhood home inspired by the Caribbean’s colorful culture. Driven by her passion for art and design, she studied Communication Design at New York City College of Technology (CityTech). Upon graduating from CityTech, Sue had the opportunity to move to South Carolina to work for a small design firm. Shortly after, Sue decided to start a family and now she is raising her three little girls while running a small home business in Columbia, South Carolina.
Subee Studio is a small design studio specializing in pattern and graphic designs, with a focus on artistic and experimental projects. Sue’s mission is to produce unique, artistic print work that combines a breadth of visual, handmade influences, textures and colors with a deep respect for pattern and graphic design.
When Sue is not designing, she believes in the importance of family, inspiring others and giving back. And for some extra fun, Sue loves taking photos.

Blue is my favorite color.
I’m a self taught pattern designer.
I began my career as a full time designer when I became a full time stay at home mum.
I’m inspired by bright colors and the vibrant Caribbean. Carnival is my biggest inspiration.
Traveling the world is on top of my bucket list.
Sharing my passion for art, design and culture to my kids is one of my main goals.
I’m launching one of my products this year. It is called “Ten Thousand Feelings”, a print and pattern stationery line to draw, sketch or doodle your thoughts to someone.
I’m left-handed and I see things in reverse.
My kids are my biggest accomplishment.
I have a sketch book of cool invention ideas I sleep with under my pillow. Shhh!
I have a hobby of redesigning products I see in stores.
My dreams are my sketch books and display boards. I see patterns and shapes while I sleep then I create them.
Hope to have my own fabric line one day.
Hope to invent a product that will change someone one day.
