Dear Dream Zone,Last night I dreamed that I was trying to tell my daughter to stay out of a swamp but then she went in anyway and had her foot got chomped by an alligator. I got her loose and her foot was broken but still attached. It was scary! - Jamie 33, Virginia Beach, VA

Lauri: Swamps in dreams can often represent depression. Have you or has your daughter been depressed lately? Have you been trying to keep her spirits up in some way? If not, then what sort of treacherous waking life situation are you trying to keep her out of? The alligator chomping her foot suggests she has recently been emotionally wounded by someone with a big mouth and hurtful remarks or criticism or even bad behavior towards her.

Jamie replies: I had an argument with her dad the other day regarding him picking her up for Easter. The argument started with him dropping her off at a certain place and time because he had to get to work in the evening and ended up being about him not having enough time for her. He only sees her every few weeks and it irritates me that he treats her like such an inconvenience. I always worry about her when she goes with him, mostly because she has to share her time with him with her younger sister.

Lauri replies: The way her foot was still attached is the way your dreaming mind is showing you that you are still attached to him because of her. Otherwise you’d probably love to have nothing to do with him, right? Just make sure you both love her more than you hate each other. You don’t want her to go through life maimed by the bad behavior of her parents.

Jamie replies: Thanks so much! I have been feeling awful since I woke up, but I feel so much better now.
