S o it’s Rugby World Cup 2015 and our mad keen Editor challenges me with a shoot at Cheltenham Tigers Rugby Club, who are playing host to the Tongan national team during the tournament. Along with some of the club’s 1st team players as props (excuse the pun!), three rather well defined, beefy guys and two exquisite doll-like girls add to the picture - rather like beauty and the beasts… How was this going to be made glamorous? My memories of prep school rugby in the wind and rain, embarrassing the sight out of my son and his school was never a memory of high fashion (fun though!). We used the ‘Raging Bull’ clothing brand, a local success story started by former England and Gloucester rugby legend, Phil Vickery with a consortium of business people and now a global menswear range. For the ladies wear I wanted to showcase the wonderful, very affordable new Malaysian designer ‘Self Portrait’, sold in Selfridges. It’s fun, innovative, different and very on trend. I also found a fantastic, 70’s red inspired dress in River Island along with ‘Nana June's’ furs, pearls and a bit of vintage Jean Paul Gaultier - we were ready to shoot with our calm and talented photographer, Anne-Marie Randall. The newly opened stylish and cool Barbers, ‘Blakes’ and sister ladies salon ‘Blushes’ sorted the tresses and I was delighted to work with a new make up artist, Shannon Budden from the Cotswolds based Claire Hanson Makeup Agency.
