Stuff You’ll need in the Darkroom when Processing film. Below you will see a picture of all the items you need ready BEFORE you turn the lights out. 1- Spool- this will hold your film 2- Scissors- you will need these to cut your film free of the spine inside the canister 3- Canister opener- opens factory sealed canisters 4- Developing pot- all the chemicals will go in here with your film 5- Spool holder- it is essential that you have this and also that it is the correct length for your developing pot, to keep the pot light tight but still let in liquid (see picture below). 6- Funnel lid- this allows you to pour in the chemicals when required 7- Chemical lid- if you don’t use this, when you start to agitate it will splash all over you. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

What Spool Holder?

1- Use this pot for processing 1x 35mm film- make sure you use the smallest spool holder.2- Use this pot for processing 2x 35mm films or 1x 120mm film- make sure you use the medium

spool holder.3- Use this pot for processing 3x 35mm film- make sure you use the longest spool holder.

Mixing Chemicals.

The exact times needed for each chemical is listed on the sheets in the darkroom but you can use this picture to visualise which chemical is what.

1- This is the developing solution for 1x 35mm film this needs to be mixed with water 40ml of developer with 280ml water/ 2x 35mm films or 1x 120mm film 75ml of developer with 525ml water. Once used the developer goes down the sink.

2- This is the stop. You will need 300ml for 1x 35mm film and 600ml for 2x35mm or 1x 120mm. once used this can be returned to the tank.

3- Fixer- You will need 300ml for 1x 35mm film and 600ml for 2x35mm or 1x 120mm. once used this can be returned to the tank.

4- Tap water- you will need this for the washing process.5- Distilled water- you will need this (along with a tiny droplet of Tepol) for your final wash.6- Tepol -see above.7- Stopwatch timer- you will need to use this to keep your times correct- when processing film

timing is crucial!
