My name is Krittika Choudhury, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Karnataka, India. I am from Guwahati, a small city in the North Eastern part of India.

The degree programme I follow in the University is Biomedical Engineering which is about

innovative healthcare technology and delivery. It is a multi-disciplinary fi eld with roots that stem

from basic concepts in physics, chemistry, biology and supported further by material science,

and various forms of engineering and signal analysis. The programme has four tracks of

specialization – Imaging & diagnostics, Biorobotics - design variant, Biorobotics - control variant and

Bionanotechnology.

I live in an International student accommodation on campus, but the city is only a few minutes

away. Therefore, it is easier for me to get to early morning classes but grabbing some ice cream

from the city is also just as easy. I would like to believe that I really have the best of both worlds.

My house has a vibrant mix of people from all nationalities, and once or twice every week we

cook together. We also sit in our backyard or get together for barbecues and other activities

during the weekend. The University also provides ample opportunities to try out different sports

and cultural activities in our free time. On some weekdays I go to group classes in the gym for

Zumba, I even went to a few Salsa classes to unwind. If you are the kind that loves to

routinely unwind after fi nishing your workload, this campus is just right for you. The campus

also has several patches of green grass where students just sit to relax until the sun sets, this

atmosphere of safety and friendliness continuously aspires you to be your best version of

yourself.

The Indian student association is also a constant reminder of home and India, they organize

events like Diwali and Holi and it is made sure that you are transported back to your roots during

those times.

In conclusion, I believe the University of Twente is the hub of rapid, and current research

especially in biomedical technology but also other technical courses. It stays true with its theme

‘high tech, human touch’ as every initiative, every innovation helps alleviate quality of life. I am

convinced that coming to this University has been a life changing decision and I hope it will

have the same impact on you too.
