STUDY ABROAD FOR
CoLA STUDENTS
When You Should Go:Every CoLA program has a study abroad pathway. The optimal time for CoLA students to go abroad is during the spring or summer of their second year.
Planning ahead is critical for student success! It is suggested to plan between six months to one year in advance to ensure proper academic, financial and application planning.
Why should CoLA students study abroad?• Engage in a cross-cultural learning experience to understand similarities, appreciate differences, and create connections between
cultures, peoples, and nations.• Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective professionally in a rapidly changing global society.• Explore different ways of thinking, communicating, working, and learning on a global scale.• Complement your studies in a global context, which allows you to learn beyond the classroom.• Increase your value to prospective employers with regard to both initial hiring and internal promotion.

“I chose to study abroad because I wanted to experience a different university, culture, and lifestyle. I saw the prospect of studying abroad as a learning experience for myself. I have become more open minded after meeting so many different people and it’s a great opening conversation when you’re networking professionally!”
