moving parts, cutting blades and the like. • Have dry hands when operating an electrical appliance. • Do not use a damaged appliance. • Pay heed to any special precautions for installation or user

maintenance • Remove plug from socket-outlet before any cleaning or

maintenance• Do not expose cord extension sockets or portable power outlet

boards to any moisture hazards • Ensure ventilation holes or outlets are not obstructed

• Employers must ensure that all equipment is ergonomically designed and that each worker has sufficient workspace to keep away from their screen.

• Ensure that all equipment is regularly checked up to ensure complete upkeep of maintenance.

• Awareness of conditions such as asthma and allergies.

• Employers must conduct a check of all staff upon initial employment, and everybody must ensure that the workspace is well ventilated.

• Employers must provide storage systems in which workers can store their belongings.

Responsibilities of employers and employees under the OHS Act 2000:

• Employers, managers and supervisors must provide:

• safe premises • safe machinery and substances • safe systems of work • provision of information, instruction,

training and supervision • suitable working environment and

facilities.

Workers must:

• take reasonable care for the health and safety of co-workers

• ensure that their actions do not put others at risk

• work safely • use and maintain machinery and

equipment properly • ensure that their work area is free of

hazards.

• Notifying their supervisor of actual and potential hazards

• Adhering to prescribed safety equipment rules • Carrying out work safely• Following health and safety regulations• Paying attention to signs• Obeying speed limits • Participating in safety training
