To stand out amongst all other live morning shows, the set designers for the Weather Channel’s “AMHQ with Sam Champion” sought out the audiovisual engineering and installation expertise of McCann Systems to produce a set as vibrant and as versatile as its hosts. The unique and sophisticated set design, by award-winning New York City based firm Clickspring, utilizes architecturally integrated display technologies to create an immersive environment. With McCann Systems hired to transform these technology driven designs into reality, the various display techniques produce a highly refined and cutting-edge atmosphere. Behind the main AMHQ anchor desk, McCann Systems installed a curved video wall comprised of twenty-eight 60” Sharp LED displays. The displays, mounted in portrait mode, create the concave video background highlighting the enormous vertical digital canvas with its unique design. Producers can update the electronic backdrop to match seasonal trends or daily weather conditions. 90” Sharp LED display with multi-touch capabilities is integrated into the set wall, directly stage-left of the anchor desk. This interactive display allows the hosts to present and interact with content including trending data, weather reports, statistics, and viewer polls. Adjacent to the interactive display is a 4x4 video wall of sixteen landscape mode 55” Sharp LED displays. The massive high definition video wall is a versatile display for everything from weather reports to intimate interviews or special reports. Another highlight of the AMHQ set is the 2x2 video wall used primarily for far end interviews, conferencing, or debates. The four 55” Sharp LED screens allow for up to two remote guest video feeds. In addition to these digital video walls, McCann Systems integrated a cylindrical rear projection video wall for special reports and breaking news. The high definition projector is mounted behind the curved projection screen. Video content is digitally altered prior to projection to ensure the content is mapped to the cylindrical screen without distortion. Studio BTS - Weather Channel | Atlanta, Georgia
