Committee on Surveying Students, Politics & Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Insaf Research Wing (IRW) is a part of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (movement for justice a political party, PTI). IRW was created in 2009 to carry out research in order to find solutions for problems in Pakistan. The foremost goal of IRW is to keep people of Pakistan and PTI informed and prepared.

The wing is composed of committees. Each committee addresses issues related to its field of expertise. The committees defined as of yet are (i) Socio-Political (ii) Technological (iii) Defense (iv) Energy (v) Poverty alleviation (vi) Industrialization (vii) Healthcare (viii) Foreign affairs (ix) Media/public relations (x) Membership (xi) Expatriates (xii) Education (xiii) Surveying (xiv) Economics (xv) Environment.

The research reports/papers are either commissioned by the central executive committee of PTI or committee members of IRW. PTI members can also suggest IRW to consider researching on a matter they find important. IRW welcomes any contributions in the form of scholarly work addressing important issues. Nevertheless, after the author(s) sends the document it is peer reviewed before getting published. In the process of peer review the document is technically analyzed and scrutinized. The procedure is necessary to maintain quality control. However, varying opinions & ideas are not penalized.

Apart from working on research reports/papers which shed light on problems and provide basic solutions, IRW undertakes the task of preparing extensive policies for PTI. These detailed and in-depth policy documents are a combination of input from several professionals who are well versed in the subject. IRW also serves as a check on the reigning government’s policies.

The Wing does not follow a preset ideology while carrying out research. IRW does not endorse any opinion presented in a published report/paper as an official position. Likewise, several research reports/paper on a similar subject published by IRW can have contradictory recommendations though it should be noted that these point of views are sole responsibility of the author(s). Very rarely when there is a complete consensus on a certain research report/paper within IRW only then it is recommended to PTI for official perusal. Any published document by the wing does not constitute it as an official position of PTI unless otherwise stated.

Insaf Research Wing works at a national level but its members are located throughout the world bringing in the much needed international experience. IRW practices an open membership policy valid for all Pakistanis regardless of religion or race. Nevertheless, members of other nationalities from international organizations interested in helping Pakistan are always welcome to join IRW.

Published reports of IRW can be accessed at PTI’s website www.insaf.pk. The headquarter of IRW is located at PTI’s Central Secretariat, Street No. 84, Sector G-6/4, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Students, Politics & Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

In our country, politics is second to entertainment though some call it dirty game but those who have been in power try to justify that they are public servants because public has elected them. In the whole scenario of election and representation, take a moment and focus on students, how and what role they play in politics. Insaf Research Wing (IRW) realizes the role students can play in the society and wants to effectively utilize their potential in context of research in politics.

Society & Politics

Organized and interdependent community is called society1; our society reflects various colors in different shades of life – in natural disasters it looks generous, in praising it seems self-centered, in need of making a queue it seems impatient, in matters of wealth and property it looks materialistic, in representing own culture it lacks confidence, in promoting personalities its media chooses actors of other nations, in dealings it depends on foreign language, and in following norms it is after West hence, exhibit an impression of inferiority complex.

Art and science of government is politics2 whereas politics in our society has been a sport with no rules besides dishonesty and mud slinging. Therefore, an honest man cannot think of politics because of the fear of being played by the opportunist hence a silent majority is being formed in the society. What impression does this expose on students?

Students & Politics

On thinking about students in politics, image of young men wrapped in flags with stickers on shirts, holding banners-placards shouting slogans, running on roads - riding bikes flashes across ones mind. Their energy and enthusiasm is commendable but there is lack of discipline, patience and ideology because they are in politics of a society, which lack these as violence is being exercised in daily life.

A student in politics knows how to make preparations for protest, riot and convention whereas s/he is not clear whether s/he is supporting a candidate on basis of his/her political stance or character, supporting a party for it’s leadership, manifesto and/or social development programs. This depicts generation(s) being prepared for the future.

Insaf Student Federation & Research Wing

Insaf Student Federation (ISF) has been coordinating different activities to gather students at one word, ‘insaf’ (justice) in this movement. They arrange membership campaigns, meetings, processions, discussions and protests; raise their voice on various issues wherever they can.

IRW recognizes the approaches by which a change in society can be brought through students. ISF can play vital role in Green Pakistan campaign and in conduction of surveys. By giving students training as enumerators they can be utilized in data collection phase. In this way, they can get introduced to surveys, interest may develop in research and in future they may contribute in IRW.

Therefore, students in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf can be utilized in initiating campaigns to create awareness in the society and in gathering public opinion; by this life can be given to concepts envisaged by IRW through ISF.
