They both had a strong desire for their children to access Christian Education. In 1989 the Church purchased some of the land that the School is now situated on. Heather willingly put up her hand to be a foundational Board member of the proposed Strathalbyn Christian School Inc. She remained a Board member from this time until the School transitioned to Tyndale Christian School at the start of 2015. Heather’s fervent prayers were that the School would bring the option of Christian Education to the Hills and beyond and that Jesus would make an impact in the classrooms for many children and for many generations to come. She was involved in numerous functions and thousands of meetings over the years. She served one day per week in the Front Office of the School in a volunteer capacity during the first formative years of the School. Heather also spent many years as Chaplain at both Strathalbyn and Murray Bridge Schools. As a result she was closely involved in the lives of numerous school families and staff member’s lives over the years. She was always prayerful, always caring and always seeking to fulfil God’s will in any decision she was involved in. The sacrifice of Heather is a part of the foundation that the Schools at Strathalbyn and Murray Bridge are built upon. On Friday this week the School and Church community celebrated Heather’s life together at her funeral at St Andrews church Strathalbyn. She quietly graduated from this earthly life and is now so very much alive in the arms of the Lord. We certainly will miss her. We honour her for her faithful service over the past 25 years plus, and extend our love and sympathy to Ps Lew and the family. fROM THE OffICE MANAgERWe’re excited! The much anticipated and longed for OSHC service is coming to Tyndale Christian School Strathalbyn in 2016.

Further information on registering your interest, making a booking or applying for the position of OSHC Director will be available very soon.

A huge and special thank you to Sarah Sanders who joined our team at the Annual Rotary Duck Race Day. A number of staff and students spent the morning running children’s games and activities and were beautifully assisted by Sarah who had trained our Year 9 girls in face painting. Sarah’s generosity was so much appreciated and we would love to recommend her to any family wanting an incredible children’s fairy or pirate party, her details are below:

Booklists came home last week. A reminder to have them back to the School by Friday 4 December. Thanks again to our magnificent Sue Dalton who collates these orders, purchases the products and packs them for us all over the School holiday period.

The 2016 fee Schedule should have arrived in your letterbox this week. The schedule is certainly much easier to follow now with the Capital Development Levy and Class Fees all factored into the one Tuition Fee and now all subject to the Early Payment Discount for those that select this payment option. Please return your Fee Commitment form before 4 December 2015 and if you have any queries or concerns about your fees for 2016, please don’t hesitate to see me.

Enjoy your weekend.

PREMIER’S READINg CHALLENgE SuCCESSOn Tuesday students were presented with their awards for completing the 2015 Premier’s Reading Challenge. This year we have seen the highest completion rate for the challenge so far with 130 students finishing (almost double the previous year).

Thank you to all who participated. To those who completed the challenge, congratulations. To those who didn’t quite get through the twelve books… give it another try next year.

This year saw the School offering an excursion to the class that was first to hand in all completed forms. Year 6 have been Ten Pin Bowling and the Reception class have been to Thebarton Ice Arena – CONGRATULATIONS to those two classes!

The Challenge will begin again in Term 1 2016 and all students from

Reception to Year 12 are encouraged to have a go. There will be seven months to complete the Challenge (read twelve books), let’s see an even bigger effort in 2016.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge has a Survey they conduct each year on their website that they would like as many Principals, Teachers, literacy teachers, students, and parents to participate in. The survey takes about ten minutes to complete. The Challenge would very much appreciate all comments, especially from students.

There are three separate surveys to choose from:

• staff• students• parents

I found this lovely piece in a book called “God’s Little Lessons for Leaders” based on Isaiah 58:11 (NIV):The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. There are plenty of things in this world that can keep us from living victoriously. Follow the following rules to overcome these obstacles:

• When people are unreasonable, illogical, self-centred and arrogant, love them anyway.• When people insist that your goodness contains selfish ulterior motives, do good deeds anyway.• When you are successful, people may become jealous of you. Succeed anyway.• When you are honest and frank, some may seek to twist your words against you. Be honest and frank anyway.• When you do good deeds today, some may forget about it tomorrow. Do good anyway.• When you show yourself to be a big person with great ideas, don’t be surprised if you are opposed by small people with closed minds. Think big anyway.• When someone seeks to destroy overnight what you have spent years building, build anyway.

Mark Twain once said, “Always do right. This will gratify most people, and astonish the rest!”

As part of the Year 7 Science program the students have been researching Living Organisms. They had to construct a key to help identify the organisms as well as do an in depth study into an invertebrate. The work produced was done to a high standard, as seen in the photos. The students acquired knowledge on the importance of classification, as well as the complexity in identifying all organisms.
