CHAPTER CODE NO.:- E 388 ONE DAY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS "RENEWABLE

ENERGY SOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION”

Vallabh Vidyanagar

Date: 19th September 2019

The technical visit and training for the students of Energy conservation and management

(ME472) was arranged by IE(I), mechanical and Production Students Chapter, BVM college.

The Visit destination was Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Integrated Rural Energy and

Development at Amrol. For that at 19 sept, all students come together at main gate at 7:30 am,

started journey to Amrol by CVM bus at 8: 15 am, and reached at 9:00 am. Then the organizers

welcomed us. Then we registered for the training and they gave us the bag and writing pad. After

that, we took breakfast.

Then training was started. The topic of the training was “Renewable energy sources and

environment protection”. The training was organized in accordance with SPRERI and GEDA.

DR. Ramkishore Singh, the principal scientist gave us general information about the history of

SPRERI and Amrol Centre. He gave the presentation on solar Energy importance and all basic

concepts related to it like current scenario of energy from various sources and future growth,

solar radiation, day length etc. After that another speaker gave us information about biomass

energy, how it is produced what are the sources of biomass, etc.

Then after 3 hours of presentation, we took delicious lunch offered by same institute. Then the

campus visit started. We met the senior employee of GEDA who give us real knowledge about

solar panel, biomass gasifier, windmill, solar cooker with giving his experiences. He gave us

knowledge about current schemes of government to increase the renewable energy. Then we see

the 2-biogas pants. One is of deenbandhu biogas plant and second is of KVIC type. Both of them

have 3 m3 capacity. After few minutes discussion we proceed toward class and at that another

speaker gave knowledge about Energy conservation, its importance and different way to

conserve the energy. Then we took a tea break. After that, we took a visit to 1MW Agricultural

Solar Power Project near to that campus. The total area of farm was 2.30 hectare in which solar

panel was installed in lines to collect solar radiation and in-between 2 rows the different crops

were harvested using drip irrigation system. We got to know how that project can increase the

income of farmer when the farm land is not satisfactory to get high yield of crop. After that, we

move towards the class for the session of general mind teasers. After few minutes the completely

training program was concluded and we gave, the feedback about how we felt and what we

learned from such a valuable training. Then at the last by clicking group pictures, we left the

Amrol and headed back to our BVM campus.

Report on Technical Exhibition Visit to evexpo 2018, organized during

21-24 December, 2018 at New Delhi Objective: To get aware about the latest trends going in the Electric Vehicle market, to

enrich knowledge about the latest Electric Vehicle parts, to observe the modifications in the materials as well as design criteria.

An EVEXPO 2018, technical exhibition visit organized by Mechanical Engineering department for 47 students (34 GIA + 13 SFI) of mechanical engineering at New Delhi during 19-25 December 2018. With the ever showering blessing from Charutar Vidya Mandal, continuous guidance from Dr. Indrajit Patel, Principal, and Dr. P. M. George, Head, Mech. Engg. Dept., the visit was grand success. For better functioning, two faculty members form Mech. Engg. Dept. (Prof. B. S. Patel, Dr. H. P. Patolia,) with one supporting staff (Shri H B Pathan) had accompanied the students. EVEXPO 2018 is the 8th Eco-Friendly Electric Vehicles Expo in India & will be held in New Delhi offering comprehensive market information, great business opportunities and a platform for networking. EVEXPO brings to the Electric Vehicle industry the opportunity to showcase, see and understand the latest in electric vehicle, Components and Services for convenient and environment friendly transportation of passengers and goods. The expo ensures that the right national and international players exhibit their technology and products to the right audience the Owners & Operators, the Manufacturers & Traders. EVEXPO is the only expo dedicated to electric vehicle industry in India. "End mile connectivity" and "Environment Friendly" are key to electric vehicle industry. To provide boost to passenger convenience and pollution free environment, Ministry of road Transport and Highways gave guidelines for approval of E-rickshaw and E-cart, which will give boost to electric vehicle industry. Industry is deemed to grow multifold in couple of years. The following different types of exibitors take participation in above EVEXPO:

2/3/4 wheel electric and hybrid vehicle manufactures

Commercial, Cargo, Passenger and Personal Electric Vehicle

Indian/International Electric Vehicle parts and component

Battery Technology companies

Charger Manufacturer

Accessories Manufacturer

Government sector and Departments

Homologation/Testing Agencies

Banks and financial Institutions

Insurance Companies

Research and Training Institutes

Body/ Chassis Fabricators

Solar Power Technology Companies

Branding Solution Providers (Name Plates, Stickers, and Screen Printers Etc.)

The preparation for above visit was started before a couple of months for railway reservation, lodging, boarding, registration for entry to the exhibition and local transport. Nearly 50+ electric and hybrid vehicles had been displayed at EVEXPO 2018. Most of these vehicles were working models that are two or three years away from making their way on to the road, unlike in other auto shows where electric vehicles are seen largely in concept forms. These products will also be relevant to India, with a majority of them positioned in the affordable segment. The automobile industry has now taken seriously the government’s direction on electric-mobility, that a majority of new vehicles on the roads should be electric-powered by 2030 to reduce vehicular pollution and cut the bill on crude oil imports. The visit was very interesting and amazing. The lodging and boarding is at Shree Gujarati Samaj, Civil Lines, New Delhi.
