Students are required to earn 50 community service hours by the end of their 9 th grade year. The total needed to graduate is 125 hours. If students come this Saturday from 9-12p they will earn 4 hours (Students are getting a bonus hour since our previous event has to be rescheduled). Students can also earn hours by bringing in the supplies on the list. For every 3 items brought in, they earn 1 hour. Community service events are scheduled once a month to help students earn hours, but they must also do community service on their own in order to meet the 50 hour requirement. For example, volunteer at an animal shelter, retirement home, hospital, etc. Does it ever seem to you like everything costs a lot of money? Are there things you want, but they simply cost too much? Well, don’t be too disheartened because the best things in life are free. Now listen to this American proverb: There is nothing that costs so little nor goes so far as courtesy. Think about it. Being well-mannered, kind, and respectful to others doesn’t cost you a penny, but it’s worth a great deal. In fact, it can help you succeed in life. And it not only enriches your life, it enriches the lives of those around you. Today, remember this: courtesy pays. Make it a great day… or not. The choice is yours. Walzem College Prep Communication Tree We want to partner with families in the best way possible. We also want to be able to direct their concerns to the person who can most immediately meet their

needs. Different adults in the building are more knowledgeable about and/or are directly in charge of certain things that happen in the building. Therefore, the communication trees below, specific to family concerns, are the best way to get answers or receive proper communication. We ask families to use these

communication trees so they can get the information they are seeking. If one person on the tree is not able to address a family’s concern, we encourage families to reach out to the next person on the tree. Families should always receive a response to communication within 24 hours. For concerns regarding things happening

Hurricane Harvey Relief Drive Mighty Wolves, IDEA Walzem is partnering with the San Antonio Regional Office and Real Life Community Church for

a relief drive! All staff, students, and families are invited to participate.

We will be collecting the following items from Wednesday, September 6- Friday, September 15:

We have 1 WEEK left for our hurricane relief drive and are taking donations until Friday, September 15th! Cleaning

supplies are in high demand, so these are our most sought after items.

Mighty Wolves, we are still collecting supplies for our Hurricane Harvey relief drive! The drive ends this Friday,

September 15. While we are still accepting all items on the list, there is a high need for cleaning products, so we

really appreciate if you can bring that in. To make it interesting, we are making this a competition between the grade

levels! Whichever grade level, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th, brings in the most supplies by Friday will win a patio lunch! All

supplies should be turned into your den teacher. ALL 9th graders, please turn supplies in to Ms. Ayala so you can

earn your hours. Thank you!

Thank you so much for helping make a difference!
