Task 1Grid Sheet 1Before you decide on the content of your magazine it would be beneficial for you to research intoexisting student magazines. Individually, look at the front cover of TNS magazine and fill in the gridsheet in your student booklet. You must ensure that you describe what you see. (P1 M1 D1

The ingredients Use on front cover

Masthead (logo) The masthead is in a yellow rectangle in the upper right corner, inside itsays TNS which is the logo for the national student. The text inside therectangle is grey and is in a basic font.

Dateline There isnt one because you can pick it up any time

Main image The main page fills the whole page like most front covers onmagazines. The main image is of Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis. She is in the middle of the page and is not coverer a lot by cover lanesso she stands out.

Colour The colour scheme for the cover is yellow white and pink. The maincover lines are in yellow so they gain your attention more than the whiteones that I think are not as important. Then the pink is to highlightspecial content inside the magazine like a careers guide.

Coverlines They are mainly about further education, in business and sport. Theyfollow a theme in yellow and white. They have 2 pink coverline so thatthey stand out against the yellow and white ones. Some of them arebigger than others.

Main cover lineThe main cover line links to the image and is bigger than the rest of thecover lines. It links to the main image as it says Jessica Ennis fromSheffield UNI to Olympic gold? This is relevant as the main image isJessica Ennis. Also it is yellow as it to draw peoples attention.

Left third Most of the cover lines are in the left third; unlike most left thirds formagazines there is no barcode or date line. However there are stillcover lines in the right third as well. This is a convention of allmagazines as they dont want to cover up the main image.

Bar code There is no barcode as there is no need for a barcode as it is a freemagazine and a shopkeeper would not need to scan it to sell it to thecustomer. You will get this magazine from your college or school.

Selling line The selling line for this magazine is INDEPENDENT AND FREE thisshows that the magazine is free to purchase and also that the companythat make it are a independent company.
