Dear Students,

Abolish 153.

Did you know that honor killing remains a legal act under Kuwaiti law,Article 153? And did you know that, even today, some people can literally get away with murder because of it?

Students, the youth of Kuwait, our future, I urge you to stand by what is right, I call upon your humanity to stop that which is by nature barbaric.

A group of Kuwaiti ladies, supported by enlightened men, have started rallying to shed light on this otherwise unheard of issue.

Exposing the article and calling for its annulment, their campaign will start on March 8th under the title “ABOLISH ARTICLE 153”

By giving your voice and your support, you will help in creating a safer, fairer environment for yourselves and the generations to come.

Youth is an insurmountable source of passion, direct it in the right way, channel it towards good causes, and the future is brighter for all.

May you always stand for what is right.

Till next issue,

Abolish 153Campaign kicks off on International Women’s Day

‘Abolish 153’ launches on International Women’s Day, 8th March. The campaign is set to highlight an injustice within the Kuwait Penal Code, where they contend that Article 153 is prohibitive and discriminative again the nation’s women. The campaign aims at establishing equality and honour reflecting the strength and growth of Kuwait as a nation and as a society.

Why did you come up with this campaign?

We realized that this law exists in the Kuwait penal code and that most people were not aware of its existence. We felt that it is an archaic law that discriminates against women. Moreover, it is not Islamic nor is it constitutional. The law has been abolished in other countries such as Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. The law still exists in the GCC countries. Kuwait has fewer cases of honor killings than in Jordan. We believe there should be no killings based on honor.

What is your main objective?

Our main objective is to abolish article 153 from the Kuwait penal code. After launching the awareness campaign, we hope to eventually become a registered NGO with coalitions within the GCC.

When and where will you start launching the campaign?

We are launching our campaign on March 8th (International Women’s Day) with an awareness raising video and social media campaign. On the 10th anniversary of Kuwaiti women gaining their full political rights on May 16th, we will be holding an exhibition that deals with this issue and lays the groundwork for our advocacy campaign.

Do you think that you will get the support you want from the Kuwaiti society?

Yes we do. Most people are not aware that this law exists and when they become aware, the majority of Kuwaiti society will support us. There are a number of Muslim clerics who have spoken against the law, which means we will receive support from a diverse cross-section of Kuwaiti society. To kill a human being is wrong. To kill your mother, sister, wife or daughter is unjustifiable. This law reflects very badly on the people of Kuwait. We are too educated as a people to allow for such a barbaric law to exist.

How did you begin the journey of “theRealFouz”?About a year ago I opened up my Instagram account and I was just sharing products and little tips and tricks that I have learnt when it comes to make-up. Through that, people started following me and it spiraled from there. It was very fast. The name “TheRealFouz” came out because, at the time, I used to get upset when other girls use my photos and therefore I made my name “TheRealFouz” to let people know that THIS is actually me.

What made you decide to open up your Instagram account? It was mainly from girls asking me how I get my makeup done, what products I use, etc. It was basically me sharing what I use but I never expected it to reach this point. It was never planned and I didn’t know that “social media” really existed at the time.

What made you fall in love with the idea of make-up and other beauty products?I got into make-up when I was in University. Before that, I painted and drew and maybe that’s where it came from. At the end of the day, you can go to workshops and other places to learn all this but, if you don’t have it in you, it just wont work. You may improve but it won’t be a major thing.

during this journey, who would you say were your biggest supporters?Honestly, my family. At the end of the day, after all the events and photoshoots and all that, you go back home and you see that you have people there who are supporting you and are basically your backbone and it’s honestly amazing. It is what keeps you going since you also have to have thick skin.

In your opinion, how is the “social media” scene in kuwait?I am on Instagram and Snapchat. I consider myself a “Social Media Influencer”. I think that social media is a whole new industry now. Over the past year, it became huge

and became a business as well. People even consider it a full-time job. People may see it as, for example, girls getting ‘dolled-up’ and going places but there is a lot of hard-work and long hours behind that one-photo you see on Instagram or that 10-second video on Snapchat.

do you feel that social Media’s increase in reputation has helped you achieve things in ways that you couldn’t without it?Definitely. I don’t think that anyone could disagree that social media is an extremely powerful tool. Even companies and corporations use it to expand! For myself, I worked on branding myself to becoming “TheRealFouz” instead of Fouz Al-Fahad. It’s very positive and not negative, I don’t see anything harmful with make-up or clothes. At the end of the day, you have many different people following you from different backgrounds and not everyone will like what you do. It’s very normal.

How do you feel that the international job market has changed when focusing on women in recent years?A lot of women are more independent. They are opening different blogs or businesses, and I feel that now especially in the Middle East they are more open to different ideas and different mentalities. It will take generations but I personally am proud of how things have improved. You never know how you can affect some people.

do you feel that the emergence of certain rights for women in kuwait has been a positive change for the country?I feel like, regardless of the fact of there being politicians or public figures supporting women, I feel women themselves are who move this forward. I can’t complain about something but I have to take action. Through that, women help in getting other women involved and that’s how it’s done. It’s still new to us to see a strong and independent woman and I feel that it’s something really beautiful.

@TheRealFouzOne year can really make a major difference and Fouz is a witness to that as she has become an influencer through social Media by giving different tips and tricks for make-up and other beauty products through her Instagram account, @theRealFouz. she was able to give studentalk an insight on how she has managed the sudden rise and her plans for the future.

If you had to choose your favorite role model, who would it be and why?Honestly, it’s my mother. She pushed me to doing what I want and, on social media, when I was going through negativity, she had words of encouraged me and keep me going. Having this much exposure in one year is very hard and I feel like having a really strong backbone who is a woman or a mother makes it amazing. I ask her advice for anything and she is always 100% involved.

Favorite Quote?“Not everything that glitters is gold”

Sometimes I feel like people really look up to us and make us idols. Sometimes I want them to realize that you take what is for you and leave the rest alone. Don’t be something that you are not.

What are your future plans?A year ago, I would have said something completely different. My background is finance and I wanted to teach in KU. After this new opportunity came along and I took it, everything changed. Now, I really don’t know but I know I will be doing things bigger and better on a regional and even a global stage.

any last words for the readers?Be yourselves and do what your hearts what you to do. Sometimes, advice can help you but if your heart is at it, then go for it. Don’t hold back no matter what.

Olivia Palermo Introduces Max&Co.'s 'The New Workwear Issue'

MaX&Co. style ambassador Olivia Palermo works around the (world) clock and her professional style choices reflect that.

Her advice for the perfect work attire is simple – plan your days ahead and you will be ready to face the world: ‘I really try to dress for my environment and what’s appropriate’, she says. ‘If I am going to a meeting and I have something in the evening, I may carry an extra accessory and put it on to transition from day to night’, she adds. When in doubt, less is more: ‘Right now, I am very much into a clean look – a crisp button-down shirt or a cashmere sweater with a pencil skirt. It’s always a great option’, says Olivia.

The biggest sea change in recent fashion history, the rise of sportswear influences into everyday fashion is a clear sign of our times. Women’s lives are faster and more complex than ever before and as always clothing adapts to and redefines the new codes of society.

The MAX&Co. Spring/Summer 2015 collection addresses the modern wardrobe’s need for stylish workwear, redefining proportions and experimenting with inspirations and materials borrowed from the world of sportswear, yet firmly in the tradition of Italian tailoring and craftsmanship. The result is stylish yet comfortable clothing - classic shapes interpreted with technical fabrics, or sportswear shapes made with luxurious fabrics. All in perfect, understated balance.

Softer Tailoring vs. Dressed-Up Sportswear

On the other side of the sportswear spectrum, classic tailoring – the primary choice for women wanting to impress at work – breaks the mould. Proportions change, volumes become more relaxed yet feminine, masculine silhouettes soften up through colour, trusted classics become exciting again.

Among the standout pieces: - Classic sportswear silhouettes in technical fabrics like mesh, to create elegant structure in informal shapes; - Softly tailored sarong shorts with a matching duster coat in a soft pastel hue – a new take on the work suit; - A new fitted blazer shape, with trompe l’oeil pleats to create the illusion of a collar; - New takes on the classic leather jacket – in an inedited blush shade or collarless with cotton inserts; - A sleeveless jacket inspired by the tough shape of the biker but tailored with a basket weave fabric borrowed from classic womenswear.

MAX&Co.’s ‘The New Workwear Issue’ and the MAX&Co. Spring/Summer 2015 collection will be in store as of January 2015. A digital edition and exclusive content will be available on www.maxandco.com and the brand’s social media channels throughout the season.

Building architects for a better tomorrowAIAS-KU

the american Institute of architecture students at the kuwait university continues to improve and help the students with all their architectural needs. Whether it’s on-campus or off-campus, they are able to organize some great events as well to continue their mission to assist the students in increasing their knowledge of the architectural world while also being there to help them with any of their educational needs. studentalk met with their Vice-President, Zeyad al-Baqer, to get an insight on what it is exactly that they do!

What does aIas stand for and, in a basic summary, what is it?AIAS stands for the American Institute of Architecture Students. It is an independent, non-profit, student-run organization that is more than just a club. This association as a whole is a cooperative between thousands of students all over the world committed to helping each other. AIAS Kuwait University is the first international chapter of the AIAS and became an independent organization as of June 2011.

Who are the members of the current aIas?• Faculty advisor: Dr. Mohamed Al-Jassar• President: Mohammed Mukamis• Vice-President: Zeyad Al-Baqer• secretary: Lulwa Al-Zamami• treasurer: Fatma Al-Tuwaijri• Membership Coordinator: Ahmed Al-Obaid• Public Relations: Nour Jafar• Graphic design: Abdulaziz Al-Oraifan• events & activities Co-Chair: Abdullah Al Muzaini• events & activities Co-Chair: Hessa Al- Habashi• student advisor: Deena Al-Jassar• student advisor: Mohammed Ghader

How does aIas benefit the students of ku?AIAS provides, for example, a printing room where students no longer have to leave the campus in order to print, since it’s something they practically do everyday. Also, we provide equipment for models and specific classes which they can buy or get for free, depending what it is. We try to make the lives of the students easier and help them with anything they need. Furthermore, we organize lectures that architects give to the students and we do workshops for specific topics that students want to learn more about. We also organize tutorials to help students learn and use computer programs that they need in design and we host a bi-annual student/faculty forum where they get together and discuss problems they face in the department and come up with solutions.

What type of projects do you work on?We have two different types of projects. First of all, we have things that go on in the university and our specific department where the students could get materials and also a mentoring program where in the beginning of the year, we have a student in either the fourth or fifth year mentor a freshman throughout his/her first year to make the transition easier. Secondly, we have events and projects that happen off-campus where we have an event each year which mainly revolves around students and professional architects together and has to do with them interacting together.

When concentrating on projects outside of the campus, what are some of the things that you have done so far?Two years ago, we had an exhibition called Art for Architectures Sake. The mission of the exhibition was to raise money for charity using the art pieces of students made during classes. It connected art and charity together. All art work that was displayed was up for sale and 100% of the proceeds went towards the Kuwaiti Society for Guardians of the Disabled. We were able to sell paintings and raise approximately 4,000 KD for charity. Last year, we had a regional conference called “This to That: Traditions in Transition”, revolving around the past, present, and future of our regional architecture. It aimed to instill a greater understanding of art and architecture in the region. It was basically divided into parts such as lectures and workshops from architects and students. It all revolved around Kuwait and its traditions and cultures.

What makes aIas special and differentiates it from other clubs/organizations?AIAS-KU is a strictly student run organization that hosts activities for the students, by the students. Also, because our college is fairly new to Kuwait University and architecture is often misunderstood in the region, we do our best in raising awareness to the public on what architecture school is like and the amount of passion the goes into the work we want students to produce.

any major future plans? We are planning our next big event now but we would rather keep it as a surprise. It will be towards the end of this semester hopefully. Furthermore, as we do every year, we will also be organizing this years’ graduation ceremony.

The 19-year-old twins were there to represent Kuwait as part of its Karate National Team (KATA), and are currently practicing for their upcoming championships this year in multiple locations around the world.

Salman and Mohamed participate in several karate championships every year, which provides them with opportunities to hone their skills in the sport. In November 2014, the Karate Twins came in 7th place in the 22nd World Seniors Championship in Germany-Bremen, which Salman described as "the dream of each karate athlete". They are looking forward to competing in the 23rd World Karate Seniors Championship in in 2016, which will be held in Lenz, Austria. In the meantime, they will participate in other international championships in preparation for the tournament in 2016. The Karate Twins look forward to fighting in two more competitions in 2015; one will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and the other one will be the Asian Championship in Yokohama, Japan.

The Karate Twins have been recognized for their combating skills throughout their careers. In 2011, at the World Championship in Malaysia, they were crowned as the World Champions, and were later selected by Al Ahli Club of Dubai to compete in the UAE karate league, where they won gold medals.

We have grown up and there have

been times where many of us have

gotten angry or annoyed with

something that our mothers have

told us as we walked away, went to

our rooms, slammed our door, and

sat while trying to calm down. Why

did we do that? Well, it’s simple. At

the time of the incident, we truly

believed that we were right while

our mothers were wrong. As we sat

in our empty rooms, we thought

about how happy she must be right

now knowing that she got her way

while you’re in the room trying to

find ways to calm down.

What we didn’t see during that whole scenario are two things that didn’t cross our minds: She was sitting in the living room contemplating you having your way so that you can be happy even though she knew for a fact that it wouldn’t really be a good idea. Also, she was slightly content that she got her way and that isn’t because she won some discussion with you but rather her years of experience have made her more aware and she was positive that you would feel the same thing as well one day. Trust me, that day will come if it hasn’t already.

Celebrating Mothers DayWe show appreciation to the greatest women

a mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her

kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. – Washington Irving

Our mothers have never meant to hurt us, they never wanted to see pain or sorrow in our eyes. Throughout their lives, they are willing to fight through any obstacle no matter how impossible it may seem in order for you to get what you want. All selfishness is completely brushed aside as she begins to live her life for you. The most beautiful part about this all is not that she isn’t selfish but it’s more on the side where her main happiness comes from your happiness. That in itself shows the true love and care that comes from a mother.Though she may not show it all the

time, we grow up having no doubt

when thinking about how much she

loves us. We never question her

admiration for us and how much she

really cares about us. Throughout our

lives, we meet many people and we

may even get into relationships but,

no matter how strong a bond you may

have with your friends or your spouses,

it can never come close to replacing

the bond that you build throughout

your lives with that one special woman:

Your mother. So, let’s take this time to thank our

mothers for everything that they have

done for us. Though words will never

be enough to show my appreciation

for everything, it is the least that they

can possibly do. On the 21st of March,

we celebrate her as we dedicate that

one day to showing her how much we

love and appreciate having her stand

with us throughout our lives. So, one

last time, thank you to all the mothers

for being the only constant in an ever-

changing world.

Racing to his GoalsFahad Al-Musallam

Interested in dirt Bikes? stand-up Jet ski’s? atV’s? Well, Fahad al Musallam was interested in all of them and has been able to make a name for himself racing in different countries around the Gulf Region. He gives studentalk a look into the racing world and the challenges that he has faced during the past few years.

tell us a little bit about yourselfI’m a 20-year-old student at AUK, majoring in Communications and Media. My motto in life is to always be optimistic, aim high, and believe that there will always be a way to achieve what you want. I’m interested in motorsports, specifically in Dirt Bikes, Stand up Jet Skis, and ATV’s. I’m stubborn in a lot of ways, I love things my way!

When did this all begin? does it run in the family? It all started when I was 8-years-old and my father took me on a ride on his ATV. Ever since that day, I anxiously wait for the weekends to arrive so that I can ride. The grasp of the adrenaline rush is what runs in our family.

What is titanium Motorsports?Titanium Motorsports is a name I decided to give myself for racing. It all started back in 2010, when I was bored in chemistry class and our teacher had us reading over the periodic table of elements. My eyes raced towards the twenty-second element, which was Titanium. Today, Titanium Motorsports is known as a racing team sponsored by several companies in Kuwait & abroad.

What do you feel is your proudest moment? My proudest moments throughout my racing career is being able to cross the finish line of every race knowing that I have given it all that I had after the continuous effort, hard work, and perseverance.

What was your biggest challenge faced as a racer? As racers, we always face new challenges every time we compete; whether it was locally or abroad. One of the toughest situations I faced was when my ATV’s engine stopped working. I had limited amount of time to get it running again before the race starts! I learned a lot from that experience.

do you see this as something that you want to continue in the future?Yes of course, there is nothing like it in this world, and I can never imagine my life without it. Racing has become my life.

Is there anyone that you look up to for inspiration?Chad Reed! He is a multi-time motocross champion that has a unique way of inspiriting me everytime I watch him race. What I like about him is that, even though he is too old for the sport, he is still out there competing every weekend. My older brother inspires me as well by having his own business running off his passion.

What major races have you participated in outside of kuwait? Inside of kuwait? One of the most major races I have ever participated in Kuwait was the “Red Bull Bar Bahr” event that took place on the 5th of December 2014 where I managed to finish 1st out of 30 riders. One of my favorite races outside of Kuwait was when I found myself battling alongside the 2014 Dakar

anything else that you would like to add? I hope that one day I get to see more young Kuwaiti athletes get into such sport. For example, instead of having approximately 10 racers show up, I want to see myself lining up next to 30 different racers from Kuwait. It would honestly be amazing!

Pastecceria di PietroThe first Sicilian Pastry Shop in Kuwait

We have to admit, some of the first thoughts that comes to mind when thinking about Sicily is the Godfather, Mafia and of course Pasta. Also there is a much sweeter reputation that Sicily is also known for, and that isIts pastry delights and not to mention, the infamous Cannoli, also known as...Cannoli Siciliani. So you might then be familiar with the term, “Leave the gun...Take the cannoli’s” from The 1972 Godfather movie.

Pasticceria Di Pietro is the first Sicilian pastry shop in Kuwait founded by Mays & Luciano Di Pietro. Their infatuation for baking and love for Sicilian pastries inspired them to take specialized courses with one of Sicily's renowned chefs to adapt the secrets of artisanal and authentic Sicilian delights. However, desserts are just one side of the story; they also offer savory items as well such as the Foccacia and the traditional Arancini Siciliani along with other flavors to come.

To know more about their adventure and how it all started and what they are up to next, visit their website at pasticceriadipietro.com and view their menu to order.

Also don't forget to follow them on Instagram @dipietro_kw and experience "La Dolci Vita"

Be prepared… Be very prepared. Pasticceria di Pietro is now in kuwait and is taking everyone by storm with their unbelievably delicious cannoli’s and other sicilian pastries that will make you beg for more!

Education has become a necessity in the world we live in. Through the power of education, we are able to learn about the world that we are a part of and understand many of the important aspects behind why things happen. With that, we are able to develop our own ideas about trying to make it a better place as education opens up new pathways for us to become the person that we want to be and make the change that we eventually want to see. Unfortunately, there are many people that are not able to receive this necessity and are therefore living in a world where they feel as though they cannot make that change and they aren’t able to become an important piece in the world. Living here, we see education as something that is needed and relatively simple to achieve while we aren’t able to see the other side where people are suffering just to receive the basic requirements. Through the “Girl Rising” movement, this can change as they help young women find this path and learn about many different topics through education.

Many people around the world have been inspired by the “Girl Rising” movement, which has taken the world by storm! There are approximately 62 million girls who are not able to be in a school and receive the education that they deserve, which in turn leads to economies and communities being extremely limited when it comes to finding growth. “Girl Rising” is planning to change that and, with the help of the worldwide community, it is extremely possible. Uniting the world in this movement will show just how important this problem really is and how integral it is to have girls get this opportunity.

They are planning to create a better world for the girls by concentrating on three main aspects:

• Increasing awareness of attention to the importance of a good education and the barriers girls often face,

• Mobilizing men, women and youths to take concrete actions that helps girls attain quality primary and secondary education, and

• Engaging corporate and government leaders to build an enabling environment for girls.

Girl RisingHelp make this world a better place for girls

“Our mission is to change the way the world values the girl”. Girl Rising is a global campaign that focuses on girls’ education as it unites girls, women, boys, and men who believe that every girl has the right to go to school and reach her full potential. they use the power of storytelling to share the truth that educating girls can transform societies.

Page 43: StudenTalk #165 - March 2015

قسم خاص

43

Through these initiatives, their mission could eventually work and they could finally be able to provide these girls with education.

At this moment, their greatest story was the critically acclaimed feature film. This is a film that has been narrated by some popular names such as Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Alicia Keys, Freida Pinto, and many others. The film focuses on the problems faced by many girls around the world as it concentrates on nine different girls who are living in the developing world. These nine girls are all ordinary girls who have to battle nearly impossible odds in order to achieve their dreams. Through this film, the movement has begun and they are now continuing to find new and innovative ways to continue spreading this extremely important message.

The next step to this movement is the “Girl Rising: ENGAGE”, which stands for Empowering Next Generations to Advance Girls’ Education. Starting in India and the Democratic Republic of Congo, they have taken this step in order to help the girls in countries such as these to have the chance to show what they’re really capable of. Without education, that is simply not possible, and therefore getting them into an educational facility will help them and help their communities thrive in ways that are not possible at the moment.

Now, many may ask “Why girls?” Well, according to their website, they have chosen girls, specifically Educated girls because they are able to stand up for their rights, marry and have children later, educate their own children, and their families and communities thrive. Furthermore, girls around the world face problems that boys cannot such as early marriage, gender-based violence, domestic slavery, and many other crimes that have continuously harmed the growth and prosperity of these women.

Their founding partners include Intel, who have invested in education for many years as they place certain importance on girls’ education. Another partner is Vulcan Productions, who are an award-winning media company as they provide leadership, editorial guidance, and impact measurement. Finally, there is CNN Films, who are their television broadcast distribution partner. Together, they have made a change and continue to help “Girl Rising” grow.

“Girl Rising” continues to grow in ways that many did not think would be possible. Through this campaign, many people have had the opportunity to see what is really happening in these developing countries and are now able to help in various ways. If you want to help as well or want to learn more about this fantastic campaign, visit their website at www.girlrising.com and be a voice in changing this world and providing these girls with what they deserve.

What are your future plans?

Personally, I don’t want to play Piano professionally. I see it as something that I do for fun or to take the stress off and I plan to keep it that way. What I am pretty much saying here is that I don’t want to feel ‘forced’ to play the piano but rather I want to be able to play whenever I feel like playing.

Who supported your talent?

When I started playing the Piano, my family were behind me and supporting me all the way. With time, my friends heard me play and they were also very good with me and supportive with my talent. They are still always pushing me to go further and I really appreciate them and am happy that they are always there for me.

did you encounter any obstacles? So far, I haven’t really encountered any obstacles. Like, I stopped playing for a couple years but that was simply because there was too much for me to handle with university and whatnot. Now, I am able to get back to it and organize my time so hopefully I can keep on going!

any last words for the readers?

Don’t ever give up on your dreams. I know this sounds a bit cliché but it’s very important because that is what will eventually help you achieve your goals in the future and make you reach your potential. Even when it gets difficult, keep fighting and you will be able to make it.

Will win the ''Most Talented''

tell us more about yourself

My name is Ahmad Abdo. I am currently in my second year of university at the American University of Kuwait and I play the Piano.

What is your talent?

My talent is the piano. I have played it for three years from when I was 15-years-old until I was about 18-years-old. I stopped playing for a while but I was recently able to get back into it and this Talent Competition coming up will

give me the opportunity to see how I am when compared to others.

How did you develop your talent?

Well, my father is a pianist and, because he loves the instrument so much, he told me how much he liked it and motivated me to start playing. With time, I fell in love with it as well and I want to continue improving. Hopefully, with time, I will be able to continue my talent and reach new levels.

47

What are your future plans?

We want to continue with this and keep on getting better with time. Furthermore, we aim to get first place in all the upcoming competitions while also performing in as many shows as we possibly can to get our names known and improve with time.

Who supported your talent?

We were mostly supported by our parents and friends. Also, the people who watched our videos and shows also really liked us and continued supporting us with time as they saw us on websites and other platforms. Also, while we trained, we got many supporters and positive comments that kept us going all this time.

did you encounter any obstacles?

The main obstacle that we face is our studies since it takes time away from us training to improve ourselves and our talents. Of course, it doesn’t stop us from doing the things that we love but it just gives us some time constraints, that’s all.

any last words for the readers?

FreeStlye Football is our passion and it’s the game that has been able to bring us together and unite us as friends. We will keep Freestyling for the upcoming years and see no reason to stop anytime soon because we are doing the thing that we really love.

tell us more about yourself

We are Ali Asmat and Abduljaleel Farouq. We are 18-years-old and have been practicing our talents for approximately four years now. We are still studying at Science-Group and, on our free time, we keep trying to get better in our talents!

What is your talent?

Our talent is known as FS, which is FreeStlye. We have been lucky enough to participate in

many different competitions throughout the years such as RedBull and Heads & Shoulders. Hopefully, there will be many more to come!

How did you develop your talent?

We grew up loving the sport of Football and realized that we really love FreeStlyle. We now practice about 10-15 hours per week and work really hard in trying to improve. With time, we were able to improve our performances since we first began playing in 2011.

How to win the war on time?Synergy Distribution

Facial hygiene is the first step to enhance your skin’s beauty and should become a must in your daily routine. Pollution, stress, make up, dust and even technological aging prevent the skin from getting enough oxygen. deep cleansing is a must to make your skin glow and maintain its vitality. From a very young age, it is imperative to take care of your skin to ensure a healthy look and a wrinkle free face.

On average, women live 78.7 years according to Centers for disease Control and prevention (CDC). Most women want to look good while aging, but often, time can feel like the enemy- especially when it comes to appearances. While it is not as easy as drinking from the Fountain of Youth, it does not have to be as difficult as going under the knife. Before you employ drastic measures in an effort to look younger, consider effective Skin Care products to turn back the clock.

Wilma Schumann Skin Care formulations manufactured in Miami usa, include a vast assortment of results-driven antioxidants, pure botanicals, advanced repairing and lifting ingredients presented in concentrated serums and emulsions. simple step…Facial Cleansing…

In the treatment room and at home, cleansing the skin thoroughly is crucial. Here is how to take it off-and leave nothing behind. Facial cleansing is such a fundamental aspect of most people’s skincare regimens that some estheticians barely give it a second thought. They simply go about the business, without stopping to reflect on whether the job is getting done. But that “Oh, I can do this with my eyes closed!”attitude can lead to mistakes with unpleasant consequences for the clients. This step isn’t just about applying a cleansing agent around the face, it also serves to increase circulation and enhance relaxation, and it gives the esthetician an opportunity to thoroughly inspect, touch and feel the skin.

age… does not always matter…

Generally speaking, as we age our skin becomes drier, so older people typically turn to milky cleansers that don’t strip the skin of natural oils and moisturize as they clean. Younger clients may prefer a foamy cleanser for a squeaky-clean feeling. But it’s less about the person’s age and more about how the skin’s needs evolve through the years. Oftentimes, those needs change considerably, and that’s the main reason to modify a skincare regimen.

season… must be considerate…

As a general rule, the drier season, like Winter is perfect to use a milky cleanser. Clarifying cleansers are more suited to Summer and humid climates like Kuwait. Those who live in countries with extreme seasonal changes are most likely to benefit from using different cleanser formulations at different times of the year.

What is technological aging?

Technological aging is the aging caused by anything that emits out electromagnetic radiation: Mobile phones, computers, television... These objects cause the so-called “electrosmog”, that’s the pollution generated by electromagnetic waves that cause the rise in temperature of biological tissues, especially of those that are rich in water such as your skin. The latter, when exposed to radiation, is warmed up reducing the proteins that bind to collagen, causing winkles and loss of elasticity….

Thing about it next time you feel heat from your mobile after a long conversation, or when you feel your skin is getting so dry after a long day in front of your computer in office.

Fish Oil (OMeGa 3):There are three main reasons as to why a woman would need to increase her intake of OMEGA 3. Firstly, it provides a healthy cholesterol level support as it will increase your health and well-being generally. Second of all, it also helps you with bone health. Even though calcium is the main supplement needed for bone-health, Fish Oil really helps maintain it as well to avoid any problems in the long-run. Lastly, it helps with your overall mood. Toyota MiraiCars

For the second time in a generation, toyota has re-imagined the future of mobility with the Mirai, its new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) which was introduced to the world with its launch in Japan late last year on december 15. the Mirai will hit the streets of europe & usa in late 2015.

The fuel cell electric Sedan makes history

Using hydrogen - an important future energy source - as fuel to generate electricity, the Mirai achieves superior environmental performance with the convenience and driving pleasure expected of any car. The Toyota Mirai is a four-door, mid-size sedan with performance that fully competes with traditional internal combustion engines – but it uses no gasoline and emits nothing but water vapor. The groundbreaking fuel cell electric vehicle re-fuels in about five minutes, and travels up to 300 miles on a full tank.

The Mirai uses the Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS), which features both fuel cell technology and hybrid technology, and includes Toyota’s new proprietary FC Stack and high-pressure hydrogen tanks. The Mirai delivers everything expected of a next-generation car: an immediately recognizable design; driving exhilaration stemming from superior handling stability achieved by a low center of gravity; and quiet but powerful acceleration provided by the electric motor.

superior environmental performance and convenience

The TFCS provides better energy efficiency than internal combustion engines, superior environmental performance with no emissions of CO2 or pollutants when driving, and the same level of convenience and autonomy as gasoline engine vehicles, and a hydrogen refuelling time of about three minutes. As part of this, the new Toyota FC Stack achieves a maximum output of 114 kW. Electricity generation efficiency has been enhanced through the use of 3D fine mesh flow channels (a world first), which ensure uniform generation of electricity on cell surfaces, providing compact size and a high level of performance.

A new compact, high-efficiency, high-capacity FC Boost Converter has been developed to boost power generated in the Toyota FC Stack to 650 volts. Increasing the voltage has made it possible to reduce the size of the electric motor and the number of Toyota FC Stack fuel cells, leading to a smaller, higher-performance

Page 63: StudenTalk #165 - March 2015

أسلوب الحياة السيارات

63

Toyota Fuel Cell System, thereby reducing system costs.

safe and secure vehicle design with comprehensive range of safety features

The Mirai was designed with safety as a top priority, based on the basic approach of ensuring that hydrogen does not leak, and in the unlikely event that any leaks do occur, ensuring immediate detection and stoppage of hydrogen flow and preventing accumulation of hydrogen within the car body. This has been done by developing high pressure hydrogen tanks with excellent hydrogen permeation prevention performance, strength, and durability in addition to hydrogen sensors which provide warnings and automatically shut off tank main stop valves.

Use of features such as a structure that efficiently disperses and absorbs impact energy across multiple parts ensures a high impact safety performance that protects the Toyota FC Stack and high-pressure hydrogen tanks during frontal, side or rear impacts.

Immediately recognizable design

In terms of the exterior, a new technique has been employed in the front face design to emphasize the left and right grilles that draw in air for the oxygen supply and for FC system cooling. The novel front face underscores the vehicle’s individuality. The elegant side profile evokes the flowing shape of a droplet of water to express the vehicle’s characteristic of drawing in air and emitting water. The roof-side rails and hood appear to pop out of the body to create the impression of a low-to-the-ground vehicle while communicating a futuristic feeling.

The interior of the Mirai has a sophisticated cabin space with soft padding on door trims and other interior surfaces, and a high-luminance silver finish throughout. The front seats provide superior body fit and hold through an integrated cover/seat foaming production process. Eight-way adjustable power seats for achieving the optimal seat

position and a motorized lumbar support function are installed as standard on the driver’s and passenger’s seats. The center meter cluster located in the central top level of the instrument panel includes a speedometer and multi-information display using a 4.2-inch high-definition TFT liquid crystal display with a design that appears to pop out. The battery layout also enables abundant trunk storage space.

superior handling stability and outstanding quietness enhances driving pleasure

The high output Toyota FC Stack and optimal battery power control drive the electric motor and ensure powerful responsiveness at all vehicle speeds. This provides an immediate increase in torque at the first press of the accelerator, and powerful and smooth acceleration thereafter. Handling stability and ride comfort are both improved through the location of major parts such as the Toyota FC Stack and high pressure hydrogen tanks centrally under the floor to achieve a low center of gravity and superior front-and-rear weight distribution, as well as the use of a high-rigidity body, which features enhanced rigidity around the rear suspension. Outstanding quietness is achieved by electric motor drive at all speeds and reduced wind noise, plus full sealing of all body parts. The use of sound-absorbing and sound-blocking materials optimally arranged around the cabin, including the use of noise-reducing glass for the windshield and all door windows also enhances the quietness of the ride.

Channels arranged in a fine three-dimensional lattice structure. Enhances the dispersion of air (oxygen) thereby enabling uniform generation of electricity on cell surfaces.

Crowned by the unveiling of a global premiere and a number of regional premieres, together with the introduction of new international and local exhibitors, this edition is indeed a turning point for Kuwait Yacht Show.

Becoming a candidate member of the International Federation of Boat Show Organizers (IFBSO), this year’s KYS will also be audited by BPA.

Now, and for the first time, Kuwait is officially on the global boat show calendar.

Nouf Al Hajery, PH7 Events Managing Director, stressed: “This year, the Kuwait Yacht Show is being backed by a great governmental support, without which it would have been impossible to invite regional and international exhibitors. With that support, we felt it was our duty to work even harder to give Kuwait a much larger and more fully encompassing show than its first two editions.” She continued, “The yacht market is recovering after suffering from the effects of the global financial crisis. Around the world new investments are being made to develop and expand product lines, and Kuwait is ready for this growth with the new marinas opening in 2015. We are proud to have been accepted in to the IFBSO, and see this as an accolade for the KYS and an honour for the nation of Kuwait. We are now working our way to be ranked alongside major global marine shows”.

Al-Hajeri then stressed the importance of the sponsors, media supporters and the Marina World management and clients “I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Platinum Sponsors Boubyan Bank and Viva; Gold Sponsors Powerboat Center and Sirbb Circuit; our venue partner URC, our official timekeeper UlysseNardin; our official automotive partner Ali Alghanim& Sons; our insurance partner GIG and our contracting partner 4 FEST." She continued, “Each person, organization or entity collaborating with KYS knows how vital a role they are playing in the success and continuation of the show. Every yacht owner who has agreed to free his space for KYS, every sponsor who has contributed in building KYS and every media partner who has helped in promoting the show locally, regionally or internationally has truly become a great ally and it is with honor that we thank each and every one of you.”

since this is the Woman empowerment Month, we will be focusing our monthly Horoscope section to the female readers. In here, you will get to know the basic skills and emotions of a woman according to her Zodiac sign. Celebrity Birthdays:

Carrie Underwood

Emily Osment

Victoria Justice

Romance and love are the main two words to describe this month for you as it will be a month where you can connect with others on a higher level. Aries women, this is a wonderful month for you and your loved ones so make it count!

The Libra is the ‘thinker’ of the Zodiac. They spend time making sure that all angles are covered before making a final decision. The woman here is an excellent negotiator because she is also able to cover all points before saying what is needed.

You’re known to spend a long time when making any decision and this is what truly helps you make the right choices in the end. The Taurus woman is known for her “perfect planning” and this is what makes the Taurus woman special and unique.

Often misunderstood, the Scorpio is usually magnetic and determined to make things work. The Scorpio woman is very demanding yet, at the same time, one of the greatest companions since she will give everything to help others.

Sometimes emotions may end up getting the best of you but don’t let that stop you from anything. Ladies, you are always caring and sympathetic and this is what usually helps you build some great relationships and what sets you apart from many others.

You’re practical and extremely hard-working. Even though it may not show at first-sight, it’s there and people will know it once they meet you. You are a wonderful coworker as she will literally give everything she has to the job at hand.

Calling you the “center of the planet” may not really be too over-the-top! Keep in mind, that’s a good thing. Your energy is highly addictive and it makes everyone want to be around you. This one goes for the women here as well, you keep the ones around you impressed!

As an Aquarius, you are extremely unique when compared to the other signs. This may end up making people feel distanced but they will know the true you once you give them the chance. The female is the type to want to live life on her own terms or at least dream of a future where that is possible.

Perfection; this is arguably the best way to describe a Virgo. They want things to reach perfection and will do whatever they need to make it happen. They don’t expect any more from others than they do for themselves. With that said, your attempt at perfection gets you places.

Being a truly loving and compassionate person, the Pisces is one of the most helpful people in the world. They aren’t able to see someone else feeling down, and will do everything to make things better. The Pisces woman focuses on her intuitive skills to make decisions as she fully trusts her gut feeling.

Intelligence and communication is what sets you apart. You don’t waste time with anything that doesn’t really concern you. The woman under this sign knows exactly what she wants and at least has a basic understanding of how to get there. She doesn’t waste time!

Your positive way of life gets you places and you are always able to see the good in any of the bad. The Sagittarius is enthusiastic and ambitious while she knows exactly when it is time to make her next move, no matter what it is.
