The Annual Inter School music competition which began in 1966 entered the 52nd year and was held in June 2017.

In February 2017, the Corporation Hospital Jayanagar organized a Rubella Injection Camp in our School.

On 29-10-2017, 125 students recited the Dakshina Murthy Shloka and the soundarya Lahari at Place Grounds. This was organized by the Vedanta Bharathi Organisation.

Syeda Fathima Zohra VIII B was declared as the Best Debater at Bangalore High School for debating on Demonetization. III Prize in a Speech competition is the Prathiba Kaaranji.

‘A’ Certificate in the Nature Science Awareness Exam conducted by the IISc.

NCC ACTIVITIES

Smt.Chandrakala, the third officer is the Troop Commander. On 5th June, Environment Day, our cadets participated in a Human Rally with Placards

creating awareness to protect the Environment. The second year cadets along with the NCC Commander, attended a CATC Camp for 10

days at NMIT, Yelahanka. They participated in various cultural competitions and have won the First prize in Group Dance and Second prize in Drill competition.

100 cadets participated in the “Global Movement Against Child Abuse” at Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium on 18th November 2017. This Movement has been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Our Cadets participated in an Awareness Programme, “Beautifying our City” organized at New Generation School.

Corporal Anjali K. will attend a Ten Days National Integration Camp at Bellary in January 2018.

Our Cadets participated in a 3 km run for health called ‘Pinkathon Programme’.

SCIENCE CLUB

The club organized a ‘Mini Planetarium’ in the school auditorium. Movies on Solar System, Galaxies were shown.

HEALTH CLUB

The Lions Club organized a Dental check up (Sabka Dentist) and Eye Screening (Agarwal Eye Hospital) for our students from 23-25 November, 2017.

Under the Health Club and Humanities Club a programme on “Health Awareness and Hygiene” was conducted by Dr. Shantha Natraj for our students. This programme was also organised by the Lions Club.

Health Checkup was done for the students and deworming tablets were distributed to students by Corporation Hospital Doctors on the occasion of “World Health Day”.

ECO CLUB

On 5th June 2017, 20 students participated in the “World Environment Day” conducted by Gopalan Skill Academy and won prizes in the Drawing and Quiz competitions.

On 2nd October 2017, Southern Railways and Eco Watch conducted ‘Swachh Bharath Abhiyan’. 12 guides and Guide Captain Mrs.Bettamma attended the programme and cleaned the luggage area at the Railway Station, Bangalore.

On 26th November 2017, Adamya Chethana conducted “100 Sasyagruha” programme. 35 students attended the programme with Smt.Bettamma.

HUMANITIES CLUB

On the occasion of “Environment Day”, 5th June 2017, Lalbagh Mountaineering

Association organized Environment Day in collaboration with our school. Our club

hosted the programme, wherein a Quiz competition for our students was organized on the

topics, ‘Know about Bangalore’. The President, Mr. Ramachandra, of Lalbagh

Mountaineering Association gave away the prizes to the winners.

As per the instructions of the Department of Education to observe 8th August to 15th

August 2017 as Independence Day Week, the Humanities Club shouldered the

responsibility of organizing the activities. Each day the students were made to

participate in activities like a talk on freedom fighters and freedom movement,

Fancy Dress of freedom fighters, singing the patriotic songs, drawing freedom

fighters.

A Power Point Presentation on Freedom Movement was prepared and shown to the

students.

The club hosted an awareness programme on menstrual health and hygiene on 24th

November 2017. It was organized by the Lions Club of Bangalore. They conducted

Dental and Eye Screening also for all our students. Mrs.Shantha Nataraj, a Social

Activist, working towards solid waste management and eco-retailer of sustainable

menstrual products addressed the students on all the above issues.

In the District Level ‘Mock Parliament’ competition conducted on 18th December 2017

by the Department of Education, Kumari Anvitha of X C bagged the second prize and got

qualified for the State Level Competition.

CONSUMER CLUB

Under the aegis of the Humanities Club, we have established a Consumer Club too in

the year 2007 to enlighten the students about Consumer Rights. This year around 100

students are enrolled as members from 9th and 10th standards.

The Consumer Club is coordinating with the ‘Expression Society” initiated by Excel

Ideas. They are training our students on leadership quality and public speaking. The

sessions are conducted for an hour every Thursday.

Various programmes are held to educate the students about Consumer Rights. Every now

and then officials from Consumer Forum are invited to enlighten the students about the

same.

On the World Consumer’s Day our students participate in different competitions

conducted by the Department of Education.

KANNADA SANGHA

The Sangha conducts the Ramayana and the Mahabharatha exam every year organized by the Bharatha Samskrithi Prathishtana. Ms. Anushalakshmi of X ‘C’ got the I Rank at Taluk Level in the Ramayana Exam.

Under the aegis of the Kannada Sangha the ‘Kuvempu Geethagayana’ competitions was held on “November 24, 2017, where in 8 schools participated. Our School got the III Prize in Group song.

‘Kuvempu Janmadinothsava’ will be held on January 5, 2018. Our Sangha will be distributing prizes on this occasion.

SANSKRIT CLUB

The club conducted a Summer Camp for eight days in which more than 70 students participated. The subjects covered in the camp were:

Health and Hygiene. Renowned Doctors were invited as Resource Persons to conduct

the sessions.

Dr. Tirumala Hegde conducted Sanskrit Conversation sessions to improve language

and vocabulary.

One of the Highlights of the camp was a day’s trip to Talakadu.

The club will organize a workshop for SSLC students to guide them on how to prepare for the Sanskrit Exam.

Craft and SUPW

In the District Level Craft Exhibition held on 12.09.2017 and conducted by the Department of Education our School’s exhibit secured the I prize in SUPW wing and II prize in Tailoring and Embroidery wing. The topic was “Shaikshanika haagu Makkala Vrutti Shikshana Kalikotsava. SUPW wing was selected for the State Level Craft Exhibition which was held on 07.12.2017.

Ravi Wesley Guide Company

The Girl Guides Guides participated in the “Global Movement Against Child Abuse” at Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium on 18th November 2017. This Movement has been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Record.

Sixteen Girl Guides wrote the Dwitiya Sopan Test and are qualified to take the Tritiya Sopan Text.

TEACHERS ACHIEVEMENT

Smt. Shalini R. Kumar

Vedanta Bharathi Organisation had arranged “Dashama Soundarya Lahari Samarpana programme” in October 2017. All the 567 students were trained to recite the Soundarya Lahari and Dakshinamurthy Shloka by Smt. Shalini for over four months between 8.45 A.M. and 9.30 A.M. 125 students of our school recited this shloka in a programme held at Palace Grounds, Bangalore.

She was appointed as one of the judges to judge the District Level Mock Parliament conducted by the Department of Public Instruction.

Smt.Bettamma, Craft Teacher

Secured the I prize in SUPW wing and II prize in Tailoring and Embroidery wing in the District Level Craft Exhibition held on 12.09.2017, conducted by the Department of Education. The topic was “Shaikshanika haagu Makkala Vrutti Shikshana Kalikotsava. SUPW wing was selected for the State Level.

She was conferred the Best Teacher Award on September 5, 2017 by Sri.Vivekananda Kalakendra Banashankari II Stage in connection with Guruvandana programme.

Sri. Devaru Bhatt, Asst. Master, Sanskrit

He was invited as the Guest of Honour for the “Silver Jubilee” function of Rajeev Gandhi Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetham, Sringeri, held on January 19-22, 2017. He gave a speech on the topic “Samaaje Sanskritasya Pramukhyatha (Relevance of Sanskritam in the present society”). He was felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtreeya Sanskrit Samsthana (a deemed Universtiy), New Delhi.

He had a great opportunity to interview His Holliness Ananthashree Shankara Bharathi Swamiji at Yedathore Yoganandeshwara Math, K.R. Nagar, Mysore. This was telecast on Chandana T.V on the occasion of “Dashamah Soundarya Lahari Samarpanam” which was

attended by our beloved Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi at Palace Grounds, Bangalore on October 29, 2017.

He anchored over three programmes of “Divya Degula” for Chandana Television, (DD Channel).

Many schools like Parivarthana School, Srirangapatna, JSS High School, Nagarbhavi etc. invited him to train the S.S.L.C. students for their final examination.

He was deputed as a Resource Person to prepare the Sanskrit Question Paper at Regional level.

He was the Sanskrit Resource Person at a workshop held at N.M.K.R.V. College, Jayanagar.

He has written many articles on different topics for various souvenirs.

Ms. Parveen Taj K

She was deputed as a Resource person in English on 29th, 30th December and on 21st December to guide the teachers of Bangalore South SSLC on how to prepare the average students for the SSLC Board Examination.

She is deputed every year by the S.S.L.C. Board for five days as a resource person in First Language English and Second Language English for “ Phone – in Programme’ ( Sahaya – Vani) to clarify the doubts of SSLC students and parents in March.

She is deputed every year by S.S.L.C. Examination Board for ‘Confidential Work’. In a workshop, on 5th December 2016 organized by DDPI in the Auditorium, She was

deputed as a Resource person in English to guide 200 English Teachers of Bangalore South to improve the results of SSLC Students in English.

She was deputed by the DIET as Resource person on 15th and 16th December, to train the teachers of Bangalore South in grammar as per CCE pattern.

She was deputed by the DSERT as a subject expert to review and edit the pre – test questions papers of English from classes five to ten standards of Government and aided School students under the project ‘Satellite and Advanced Multi – Media Education’.The project is undertaken to bridge the gap of quality education between the students of government and private schools under ‘Tele- Education Project’.

UNION ACTIVITIES

In the month of June, ‘A Selfless International Society’ (OASIS-MISAAL) organized a series of competitions in Quiz, Group Discussion and Interaction with the public at different levels. About 25 students participated out of which 10 students entered the third level and won prizes. Bibi Ameena Khanam, Chinmayee B and Monisha D of IX B entered into the 8th Level.

SSVM High School conducted various competitions in which about 40 students participated. Faiza Riffath and Smitha of IX A, won a prize for the ‘Power Point Competition’ on Independence Day. Sushma H and Krathi P of IX A won a prize in Rangoli.

In the All India General Knowledge Exam conducted by CHRD in December 2017, Kumari Monisha of IX B got 3rd rank and Kumari Syeda Fathima Zahara of IX B was the School Topper.

In August 2018, Kumari Namratha V.P., won the 1st Prize in Drawing and 3rd Prize in Story telling in the competitions organised by the Bharath Vikas Parishat.

In August, 2018. Smt. Maya Chandra prepared a film documentary on all R.V. Institutions. 20 Dollu Kunitha students figured prominently in it.

Axis Bank, Gandhi Bazaar Branch conducted a National Level Drawing competition, ‘Paint Your Way to Dubai’ in which 72 students from 8th and 9th Stds. participated. The results are awaited.

NCC ACTIVITIES

Smt.Chandrakala, the Third Officer is the Troop Commander. 40 Cadets walked from Maharani Science College to Manekshaw Parade Grounds on

International Yoga Day – 21.6.2018 On June 5th, World Environment Day 100 cadets went on a rally to Lalbagh, holding

placards with slogans. In August, 2018. Smt. Maya Chandra prepared a film documentary on all R.V.

Institutions. Our NCC Cadets figured prominently in it. Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated on 26.7.2018 to which His Excellency Governor

Vajubai Vala was the Chief Guest. Our cadets gave him the Guard of Honour. On 19.09.2018, 100 NCC cadets cleaned the school’s surroundings as a part of Swachh

Bharath Abhiyaan. 40 cadets attended CATC camp for ten days at Maharani’s Science College.

SPORTS

Our school participated in various sports tournaments and athletics conducted by the Department of Education at the cluster Level and Taluk level and won the following events:

In the month of August, our Basket Ball team won 2nd place in the Taluk Level Basket Ball Tournament conducted by the Department of Education.

Shubha M R of X A won the 2nd place in 800 meter running race at the cluster level and qualified for Taluk Level conducted by the Department of Education.

Sindhu R of X C won the 3rd place in 400 meter running race at the cluster level conducted by the Department of Education.

Varalakshmi M of X C won the 3rd place in Javelin Throw at the cluster level conducted by the Department of Education.

HUMANITIES CLUB

On June 5th 2018, On the occasion of the World Environment Day, about 50 students participated in an awareness event on the use of Eco friendly sanitary napkins conducted by Adamya Chetana at Hotel Capitol.

The club hosted a Drama programme on the 'Importance of our Constitution' organized by Azeem Premji in collaboration with the Department of Education on 3rd August 2018.

The Department of Education conducted an Essay writing and Quiz competition on the Topic, ‘Fair and free Election’ in the month of December, Syeda Fathima Zohra and Amena Sultana of IX B won 3rd prize in the Quiz. Fathima Anjum of IX B, won 2nd prize in English Essay and got selected for District Level.

The Club shouldered the responsibility of organizing the ‘General Educational Excursion’ for four days to Kanyakumari, Kutralam Falls and Madurai and successfully completed the same. 96 Students and twelve staff members participated in it.

The Club will organize class wise competitions for the members in Talk on various topics, written quiz in literary and Group Dance with various themes in cultural events.

ECO CLUB

On June 5th, The World Environment Day organized by Behtar India, was celebrated in our School by planting the saplings in our school garden, The Chief guests for the Occasion were Mr. Midhun Paul, Zonal Head and Mrs. Shwetha, City Manager. Awareness programme on the use of Eco friendly sanitary napkins at Hotel Capitol.

In July, 2018, 180 students from 8th, 9th and 10th stds. participated in the Drawing competition organised by the Education Department and won 12 prizes. Namratha V.P. – 8th A, Arfia Tabassum – 9th B, Yogitha M.S. – 10th won the I prize and got selected for District Level competition.

On September 16, 2018 The World Ozone Day being celebrated at RV I M, 34 students participated in Drawing Competition and won 2 prizes. Kumari Alfia Tabassum, IX B – II Prize, and Kumari Lavanya R., IX B – III Prize.

On the Occasion of Swachch Bharat Andolan, our students participated in the cleaning work of our school surrounding and created awareness about the disposal of dry waste and wet waste to the public.

SCIENCE CLUB

The Science Club has conducted various interesting activities for its members this academic

year

The club organized a two day trip to Madikeri, Karnataka’s Kashmir. The students visited Nisargadhama, Dubare Forest, Golden Temple etc, which provided them a change from their school-study schedule.

The club conducted various competitions to inculcate scientific temper and thinking capabilities. Science Quiz, Science Talk and Science Chart and Model Making competitions were conducted and attractive prizes were given to the winners.

The Science club in collaboration with Kids for Tigers organized a film show on Wildlife and Environment for its members.

Members participated in Science Talks conducted by different schools. A planetarium show will be organized in our school and a film of Solar System will be

shown in the last week of December 2018. An innovative Science Lecture will be organized on an interesting topic in the last

week of December in order to create interest in Science Topics.

HEALTH CLUB

General Health Check up was conducted to all the students by Dr. Ramesh, BBMP Hospital, Kankanpalya. Few students had vision problems and they were taken to Minto Hospital for further treatment.

An Awareness Programme on ‘Health and Hygiene’ was organized for our students wherein Dr. Poorni Narayanan from Divakar Hospital spoke on the issues of Adolescent health and hygiene.

KANNADA SANGHA

The Sangha conducts Ramayana and Mahabharatha exam every year organized by the Bharatha Samskrithi Prathishtana. Kumari Poorvi Chowhan of IX ‘D’ got the I Rank at Taluk Level in Ramayana Exam.

‘Kuvempu Janmadinothsava’ will be held on December 29, 2018. The Sangha will conduct various competitions on Essay, Light Music, Folk Songs, Pick and

Speak. The prizes will be distributed on the Sports Day on 31st December 2018.

SANSKRIT CLUB

In the month of February 2018, a Resource Person was invited to guide the students of SSLC in first and third Language Sanskrit on how to prepare for the Board Examination.

The Club conducted literary activities and 18 students received prizes. We organized a Summer Camp for 8 days, named Sanskriti-Sanskrita – 2018. More than

80 students participated. At the end of the camp all students were taken to Kanya Kuteeram – a Sanskrit environmental place on the bank of River Kaveri.

CRAFT AND SUPW

Secured I prize in Tailoring and Embroidery wing and I prize in SUPW wing in the District Level Craft Exhibition held on 14.12.2018, conducted by the Department of Education. Ratna and Bhavna of IX C explained our items of Tailoring wing. Lakshmi Tiwari of VIII D and Chaitanya of IX C, explained the SUPW items. The topic was “Shaikshanika haagu Makkala Vrutti Shikshana Kalikotsava”. Both wings are selected for State Level.

RAVI WESLEY GUIDE COMPANY

June 22, 2018 – Guides participated in Geethagayana Competition at Seetha Circle organised by Bharath Scouts and Guides, Basavanagudi Local Association.

On September 1st and 2nd 2018, 16 students participated in the Dwitiya Sopan Exam conducted by Bharath Scouts and Guides.

On 19.09.2018, 30 Guides cleaned the school’s surroundings as a part of Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan and created awareness on the correct way of washing hands.

TEACHERS ACHIEVEMENT

She was deputed to prepare answers for the Model Paper for the CET Exams conducted for the recruitment of Government Primary School teachers by the Commissioners’ Office, Department of Public Instruction.

In the Month of January, She was selected from Bangalore South for a 10 days’ State Level Master Resource Person (MRP) training conducted by RMSA and DSERT at Brahmakumari’s Eshwari Vidyalaya, Bangalore.

In March, she was deputed as a District Level Master Resource Person by DIET Bangalore Urban to train 60 craft teachers of Bangalore South for 10 days at Government Primary School, Basavanagudi.

She is the recipient of I prize in tailoring as well as I prize in SUPW at the District Level Competition and has qualified for State Level.
