• Ms. Nelson - Student Support Coordinator (SSC) • Mrs. Pyles - RTI/504/SST Coordinator• Mrs. Little - Counselor • Ms. Beaupierre- Learning Specialist • Ms. Simpson - Learning Specialist • Mr. Copeland - Learning Specialist

Systematic Interventions Systems
Tier 2: Response to Intervention (RtI)
o Research based strategic interventions in classroomo Focus on one specific skill at a timeo Students are referred to group based on academic progress on
assessments and scores on universal screenerso Students can also be referred for emotional/behavior concernso Progress monitoring collected regularlyo Collect data to determine if the intervention is working (results
determine whether student returns to Tier 1, remains in Tier 2 or is escalated to Tier 3)
o Meetings held by SSC and classroom teachers, including parent and/or student

Systematic Interventions Systems
Tier 3: SST
o Very similar to tier 2, except the interventions occur more frequently
o Students are referred to the group based upon their academic/behavior progress on weekly assessments, scores on universal screeners and amount of growth made during Tier 2 interventions
o Progress monitoring is collected regularlyo Parents and/or student are invited to SST meetings and are a

What is a Section 504 Plan?
• Part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
• Developed for physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity
• A 504 Plan can be developed to provide reasonable accommodations so that the student has access to the general education environment, curriculum, and activities
• Example: For a student with sickle cell anemia, a modified class schedule may be needed to accommodate the student’s stamina.

What is Special Education?
• An individualized, unique program to give your student access to academic content taught in their grade through specially designed instruction.
• Decisions about the best supports and services for the student are determined by the collective wisdom of the IEP team.
• Different students learn different ways. When a student has a disability, they require a different type of teaching.
• Your student does not have to stay in special education forever. If he/she makes progress and no longer meets state criteria for eligibility, he/she will be exited from the program.
![Page 12: Student Supports Information Session...•A 504 Plan can be developed to provide reasonable accommodations so that the student has access to the general education environment, curriculum,](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040402/5e7efae247981062f53c7a8f/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)

Ways a Disability can Impact the Student
• It may take longer to complete simple tasks
• They may lose focus easily
• They may not remember what has been said or taught
• They could have behavior problems in school and/or at home
• Regardless of the impact, the special education personnel are trained to provide the education your student needs to succeed!
