You only get ONE chance to make a good first impression… Statistics show that it takes up to 10 future
positive interactions to change a negative first impression

nervous Keep the presentation POSITIVE Focus on your accomplishments – avoid
negatives Most people are not aware of mistakes other
people make – don’t draw attention to your previous mistakes
Being prepared will reduce your anxiety

Create a folder where you will save ALL of your Sr. Presentation files/images
Open/Create a blank presentation and SAVE it on the server – make a backup – save it to the cloud,
your e-mail, USB… make at least ONE extra copy – Make sure you name file with your name

Create the guts of your presentation FIRST Be organized! Choose images that will go in your
presentation and SCAN them ALL in at ONE time!
SPELL & GRAMMAR CHECK! Have someone else proofread your presentation AFTER you have completed the guts of your
presentation, organize it so it flows for YOU Then, and only THEN should you worry about
playing with backgrounds and colors
Presentation Presentation background/layout
Should be consistent – reflects professional attitude AVOID neon colors, bright reds/yellows hard to
see/read presentation = Unprofessional (lower score) Should also reflect your personality/interests Use photographs and graphics ONLY as necessary Can find cool backgrounds on Internet (don’t waste a lot
of time on this, however) Can customize background if you want – whatever you
decide, be consistent Use consistent transitions – more professional DO NOT use sounds for transitions
Trifold Board Presentation PLAN to incorporate your trifold board in your

itself (Senior Night)

Presentation Be prepared! Practice! Do not READ
your notes or the screen – Face & talk/present to your audience.
PLAN where you will incorporate your board & portfolio during your presentation When will you direct your audience to look
at your board or preview your portfolio? What visuals will you put on your board? What visuals will be in your portfolio?
Presentation Be personable, real, make eye contact – be
your best self as if you’re on a job interview! Vary your tone of voice, use your hands –
BE EXCITED about what you’ve learned and accomplished!
Use VISUALS – ask to borrow some from where you did your Sr. Project
Presentation Keep presentation interesting…and moving
along – Practice so you don’t stall out The more interesting you make your
presentation, the higher the score you will earn/receive YEAH!!!
You want to leave your audience asking questions – make sure to tell them just enough to make them curious/interested but not too much to bore them
???Questions???
???Thoughts???
Dress for Success Dress professionally – if your chosen career
wears professional clothes – dress the part (Dressing for success); if your chosen career wears a hard hat, bring one and dress as you would on the job – in CLEAN clothes
Avoid perfumes/colognes – can be too strong in close quarters.
If you have tattoos/piercings, cover them up or take them out – this is like a job interview
BEFORE Presentation Day PLAN AHEAD – Dress Professionally
Wash & iron your clothes… They SHOULD NOT look like they came from under your bed, the back of your closet, wadded up, or from between your mattresses…
You want to look clean, fresh, prepared, confident, relaxed…
NO short skirts, NO shorts, sweats, sweatshirts, yoga pants – if in doubt, don’t wear it or ASK BEFORE you wear it to presentation day
Lay your clothes out the day/night before – make sure your chosen outfit meets requirements
BEFORE Presentation Day PLAN AHEAD – Professional = Success
Practice, Practice, PRACTICE!!! Professional language Professionalism = Confident & Prepared
Remember, you only get ONE first impression…
BEFORE Presentation Day Make sure your presentation displays the way you
planned for it to look – fits on the screen… Double check Prezi, PPT, Windows Movie Maker and
Glogster – whatever program you used, make sure it works correctly
Preview your presentation on at least 3 different computers AND in the room you will be presenting
IF you need help, come see me – I will help you If someone is going to drive for you, have them practice
with you
The DAY of Presentations Be EARLY for your presentation – Today is NOT the day
to be running late – it will stress you out! Go to bed EARLY – get plenty of rest Ask your parents or a friend to wake you up earlier Set your alarm for earlier than you usually get up Have breakfast – OJ and eggs are a good start
Being on time will allow you to be cool, calm, collected, poised, giving you peace of mind because you know you are prepared = Professional Presentation

Closing Notes Close with your future plans – everything you
have shared leads up to your future Restate your goals Summarize your presentation Ask your audience if they have any questions –
