International Honor Society in Education
Kappa Delta Pi KDP Application Deadline is October 3rd.
Applications are available outside Professor Ligon’s office in Round Rock, Avery 464T.
September 30th: KDP hosted a come and go information session to share about KDP membership and
leadership opportunities. Thank you to all who attended and welcome new members!
October 11th: KDP will host a TExES Exam Preparation Session on Sat. Oct. 11 from 9 a.m.—12p.m.
Ms. Jodi Brooks will be sharing information and tips to help you prepare for the TExES exam. This session will
specifically focus on ESL preparation. Come join us for a fantastic morning of learning and networking! A
certificate of participation will be provided for each attendee and we will have awesome door prizes!

Student Government
In the Fall 2011, the Student Government (SG) added a 15th position on the Executive Cabinet for a student representative from the Round Rock Campus. We are currently seeking a Round Rock student to fill the position. The Student Government acts as the voice for every Bobcat. The Senate consists of sixty senators that represent the on-campus, off-campus and academic college constituency.
The responsibilities of the RRC Liaison include: must be enrolled in at least one class at the Round Rock campus, commit to two long semesters, represent the RRC student body at SG functions, meetings, etc., attend required meetings in San Marcos, be available to RRC students and collect feedback, suggestions, praise, etc., remain in
communication with SG officers and RRC staff members, and attend RRC events as schedule allows. This position will provide valuable leadership experience that will truly enhance your resume. SG meetings are open to all students.

Seeking Round Rock Campus Liaison for the 2014 – 2015 Academic Year
One out of every 20 hospital inpatients will contract a healthcare associated infections (HAI) as they undergo treatment in U.S. healthcare facilities. What is the na-tional health care system doing to prevent and report HAIs? Dr. Rodney E. Rohde will discuss this topic in more depth as part of the Faculty Speaker Series.
These special events are free and open to the public. Guests are asked to please park in the events parking
lot (southwest lot). Dr.Rohde is the Chair and Professor in the Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS)
Department and the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health Professions at
Texas State University.

College of Education Announcements TExES Practice Exam Information Texas law requires that individuals seeking to become teachers in Texas must pass the TExES in order to become certified by the state of Texas. In order to receive clearance to take the TExES certification exam, one must first take the required practice exams. You may take the practice exams at the campus that is most convenient for you, either San Marcos or Round Rock. Practice exams are scheduled at the Round Rock Campus, Avery Building 455 during the following months: June, September, October, November, February, March and April. A practice exam schedule is available from the OEP website: http://www.education.txstate.edu/oep/oep-links/texes.html. Register online in advance to reserve a seat for practice exams at this address: http://[email protected] and click on month at a glance. There is no charge for the practice exam but you must be registered in signup.
Information Sessions for Prospective Post-Baccalaureate Students Seeking Teacher Certification Information Sessions regarding the teacher preparation program are held throughout each semester. ***NEW VA Certification Process*** In an effort to reduce paper consumption, the Texas State VA Office is no
longer accepting paper documents. Students must now use the new VA Certification Request Application. Please be
prepared to upload all required documents directly into Texas State’s secure document management system at the end of
your application. Be sure to submit an application for EACH semester in which you have registered along with your most

Teacher Recruitment Program The Teacher Recruitment Program (TRP) is designed for
mid-career adults who hold a baccalaureate degree and desire
an accelerated program to attain teacher certification. The
deadline for Spring 2015 has been extended to October 1.
The deadline for Fall 2015 is March 1. Information and

Teacher Certification Exam Information Texas law requires every person seeking educator
