Message from Rose Manousaridis,Principal

We have had a more challenging start to theyear than we would have liked but withtypical Wentworth Point Public School spiritwe have worked hard with a positiveattitude to overcome the unexpectedchallenges. We worked tirelessly for the lasttwo weeks of the ‘holidays’ to get ourschool up and running but life is full of

surprises and it is the approach we take with these surpriseswhich make us or break us.

Our returning students have settled in really well and ourKindergarten children are happy and excited to be at school. Ithas been so wonderful to see our older students taking care ofour Kindergarten students. To see our school values in actionmeans a lot.

It has been wonderful to also see our returning staff and ourmany new staff embrace all the challenges and opportunitieswhich [present themselves at the start of the year. The mostcommon comment I hear from teachers is ‘I love my class’ andguess what? When we love our work it never feels like work. It’sa privilege to be growing our children, staff and parents for thefuture.

Here’s to fabulous 2020. When we change our attitude, wechange our lives.

Look What We're Growing!

After 6 weeks of holidays and some incredibly hot weather, students from the Ravens, Emus and Owls were thrilled to seethat we finally have some fruit growing on our citrus trees. Thetrees were planted soon after our school opened and we can'twait for the fruit to ripen in the next few months. We were alsoexcited to see that the worms were still very happy and healthyin their farm. Students even collected the 'worm wee' which isa nutritious liquid fertiliser to put onto the other plants.

Year 5 Panthers

We chose our name because Panthers never give up on theirgoal (to hunt their prey). The Panther is a symbol of courage, strength and raw power. As Panthers we strive to be strong, have courage and take risks in everything we do. We aim tohave a growth mindset, to never give up and to always try ourbest.

This week we have been learning about what it means tohave a growth mindset. Students have set their goals andhave collaborated together to think about different strategies orthings they would do to help reach their goal.

The Orcas

We are designing and creating our welcoming learningenvironment in The Orcas. Together we have set ourexpectations, named our class and started creating brightartworks to decorate our walls.

School Values

The Axolotls have started our school year by reflecting onthe school values and focusing on ways in which we canimplement them in our classroom every day. Creating our classexpectations together avoids any misunderstandings andkeeps everyone accountable.

Year 1 Geckos back to school 2020!

During the first week of Term 1 2020, students in the Geckosclass settled in very well. They were extremely motivated foranother year of learning. On the very first day, we had to giveour class a name. After lots of discussion, we named our class‘The Geckos’. Geckos can change colour to camouflage withthe environment just like we are learning to be flexible learnersaround the school.

We spent time getting to know our classmates through manyteam building activities. We successfully moved the hula hoopover each other while we held hands in a circle. We practicedmany times and beat our record of 1 minute and 20 seconds. We also enjoyed a few literacy rotations with our new classmates.

We look forward to growing our brains this year!
