Engagement Activity
Mother’s Day
On Friday 8th May, in your classes you will be completing different activities to get ready
for Mothers’ Day. You may be writing cards or making something to give your mum (or
very important adult) to show your mum how much they mean to you.
We would love you to be ready to share a special memory or moment you have had with
your mum (or very important adult), with your class.

Acting Principal
GRATITUDE
You may like to complete this challenge as a family or on your own.
Think of a reason you are grateful for someone in the Chalcot family, this could be a friend,
this could be another family (at Chalcot), a teacher, office staff, integration aide, the
leadership team, or someone in your own family.
Record why you are grateful in a letter, a poster, a picture, doing something kind for them
or in a different way of your choosing.
If you would like to share it with the Chalcot Community please send to us at
We would love to put them in our weekly newsletter. If you would like to keep it just for
that person, that is great too. This simple act of showing gratitude for another person makes
a big impact.
Have fun!!

MRS FELTON’S FAVOURITE BIRCHER MUESLI
RECIPE
Bircher Muesli, sometimes called Overnight Oats is a wonderfully healthy and
surprisingly easy option for breakfast. This recipe requires no cooking and is
great for kids to make by themselves or with a little adult supervision.
As long as you have the basic recipe you can add or substitute any ingredient
you like. So let’s get creative!!!
WHAT YOU NEED: serves 6-8
Basic recipe
2 cups rolled oats
3 cups liquid (1 ½ any milk, 1 ½ any juice)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 Tablespoons honey (maple syrup, rice malt syrup)
1 cup grated fruit/veg (apple, pear, carrot)
Added extras (you can add any or all of these)
3/4 cup - sultanas/dried cranberries or both
1/2 cup - chopped dates/apricots or both
1/2 cup - shredded/flaked coconut
1/2 cup - pepitas/sunflower seeds/chopped or flaked nuts
1/4 cup - chia seeds/hemp hearts
WHAT TO DO:
1. In a mixing bowl place the oats, liquids (milk/juice), cinnamon,
sweetener (honey/maple/rice malt syrup) and grated fruit/veg (apple,
pear, carrot)
2. Add any or all of the added extra ingredients. Mix together well.
3. Place clingwrap tightly over bowl or transfer into an airtight container.
4. Leave in refrigerator overnight. Stir well before serving.
TO SERVE:
Stir well before serving. Serve with your choice of - yoghurt, fresh fruit,
berries and a drizzle of honey. ENJOY!!! * Lasts up to 3 days in fridge.
This page is dedicated to reminding everybody that we are all in this together and
we are all doing a great job! If parents, staff or students have any messages please
email to [email protected] and we will share them.
On behalf of all the children and parents at Chalcot Lodge we’d like to
send a huge thank you to Angie and Lou from our Parent Club. We are
so grateful to have these wonderful ladies involved with our school, we
wouldn’t be able to accomplish as much as we do without their
continued support. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of
our students and staff. Arranging mothers’ day gifts during this time is
just another example of your dedication and creativity.
On-site staff are sending a delicious thank you to Kaz and Thandi for dropping off
some Oreo cupcakes they made this week (pre-arranged and approved delivery of
course!). Your baking skills were appreciated and it was so kind of you to think of
us.
A big thanks to Rachel (Archie Hird’s mum), for sending us some of her super
cool and fun face masks. Like many other business owners, Rachel has had to
redirect her skills, now Mrs Wakeman & Mrs Scandolera look really cute
when they do their lunchtime clean of the classrooms. Thanks Rachel!
Hi, I just wanted to touch base and give you
all a round of applause for week one. I had a
lot of apprehension regarding how this was
going to work and engage kids especially
mine. The work you all have put in in the
weeks leading up shows. The communication
and information provided made sure we were
well prepared ahead of time. Speaking to
many other families you have done so well in
these challenging times as many other
schools were not good at communicating or
preparing. Both Sami and Aisha are engaging
(mostly) and just require minor help and
reassurance from me which I'm lucky enough
to be in a position to provide. Thanks for
giving up your holidays to prepare as it really
shows. Everyone leadership teams, teachers,
aides and admin are helping making this
transition flow well.
Thank you
Kind Regards,
Amanda Khan Niazi
Hi Paul,
I just wanted to send a little note in writing to say
that I am absolutely blown away by the level of
order, organisation and support that Chalcot have
been able to offer in their online learning platform
this term. Everyone has just been so kind, patient,
understanding and extremely helpful in every
way. Cathy, Tamsin and Jasie have put together
such a comprehensive (and easy to understand!)
program for us parents and preppies. And I know
they have been working tirelessly, day in/day out,
to ensure that we are given us much information
as possible to ease our stressed and worried
minds! I feel so proud to have my son at this
school and couldn't feel more part of this little
community.
Thank you so much to everyone - from our much
cherished teacher, Cathy, yourself, Ashley,
Narelle, Jacky and everyone else involved - for
the effort, comfort, positivity and assurance.
Stay safe,
Aarany Diver (Pete's mum)
I would like to show my
gratitude and appreciation for
this amazing Chalcot family we
have. All the families, parents
and students who have been so
patient, calm and caring during this process of
transition into remote learning is amazing.
I am so proud of all our staff for learning these
new skills and working so hard to provide the
best education and support for our students
possible.
I am so proud of our students who have
adapted and learnt many new skills to be able
to learn online each day.
You are all amazing and I feel so lucky and
grateful to be a part of this community.
From my heart to yours, thank you!
