Student Council

What is a Student Council?

• A student council is a group of elected and volunteer students working together with an adult advisor within the framework of the constitution to provide: (1) a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities (2) opportunities for student experience in leadership (3) encouragement of student/faculty/community relations.

Your Job as a Representative

• To give input• To plan special events or projects • To support students • To give the student body a "voice“• To communicate ideas from the student body to the

Council (and vice versa)• To get the student body involved• Serve as a positive role model to other students

Student Council Etiquette

• Don’t use your cell phone while a meeting is in progress unless you are given permission to do so

• Listen while others are talking• Be respectful• Wear you StuCo shirt on days we meet

Report Cards

• A representative’s report card’s average of all classes combined cannot be lower than an 80 for officers and a 75 for general members. For each Pre-AP class, five points are added to that class.

• All Student Council members must not receive anything lower than an S in citizenship.

Energy and Environment

• Energy and Environment is responsible for planning activities that promote environmental and energy awareness.

•Projects like the Scavenger Hunt, Half-Lights Wednesday, Bear Creek Park Pick-Up

Public Relations

• Public Relations is responsible for the maintenance of the Student Council bulletin board, all advertisements for Student Council events, and other school publicity as submitted and approved by the Student Council advisor.

• Making things like announcements, posters, working on the bulletin board, and other advertisements

Community Service

• Community Service committee is responsible for the planning of any Student Council service projects.

• Projects like Easter Egg Hunt, Bingo Night, Bake Sale for Haiti, and C.A.R.E. Week

Teacher Appreciation

• Teacher Appreciation committee is responsible for the planning of all appreciation projects for faculty/staff and community and for activities that encourage a positive attitude within the student body and among the faculty and staff.

• Projects like flower pens, Valentine Hearts, Stress balls, and decorating lounge for upcoming holidays

D.A.S.H.

• D.A.S.H. is responsible for the planning of any Student Council activities that promote safety and health awareness and that promote prevention of drugs and alcohol abuse; that encourage students and teachers not to smoke.

• Projects like Red Ribbon Week and “Don’t Be Dumb. Where Your Seatbelt”

Pride and Patriotism

• Pride and Patriotism committee is responsible for planning activities that promote pride and patriotism.

• Projects like pep rallies, fundraisers, dress updays, and working a Keller High Homecoming Carnival Booth
