• When faculty and student affairs professionals pool their perspective on students’ in-class and out-of-class experiences, they discover firsthand what the college impact research shows: that cognitive and affective development are inextricably intertwined and that the curricular and out-of-class activities are not discrete, independent events: they affect one another (sometimes profoundly) in ways that often are not immediately obvious.
