Nightingales (RN)Advisor: Bethany Davis

The Nightingales Club is an organization established for the Associate Degree Nursing students. The purpose of the organiza-tion is to promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities towards healthcare and the resolution of related social issues. Members have direct input into the standards of nursing education and influence the education process.

Phi Beta LambdaAdvisor: Dawn Kantz

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is the premier career and technical student organization preparing students for success in life. The high school division has 215,000 members while the post-secondary division has 11,000 college students. Exclusive membership and career recognition programs are designed for each division to provide additional personal and chapter develop-ment opportunities. PBL’s national awards program recognizes and rewards excellence through a broad range of business and career related areas. Whether it’s accounting, technology, speaking, management, web design or any of the other individual, team or chapter events, the National leadership Conference is a great opportunity to compete against students who have advanced from state competition.

Phi Theta KappaAdvisor: Sterling Cullipher

The International Honor Society of Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for two-year colleges requiring students to earn a 3.5 (GPA). Benefits include scholarship opportunities and leadership development.

Science ClubAdvisor: Dana Almengor

The purpose of the LCC Science Club is to promote interest, understanding, and awareness of the scientific world. Students will develop the skills needed to further their academic career in the sciences as well as make a difference in the local community. Student Government Association (SGA)Advisor: Samara Taft

The Student Government Association serves as the student voice on campus, and facilitates communication between the student body, the faculty, and the administration. SGA is designed to enhance the general welfare of students, and they encourage input and participation from all students. The association supports student activities such as athletic events, festivals, blood drives, commu-nity projects, a student newspaper, and curriculum activities. Surgical TechnologyAdvisor: Jimi Spears

The purpose of the Surgical Technology Club is to raise standards of the club members physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually, develop and promote closer cooperation between the club members and allied medical personnel, and acquaint the general public of the club’s interest in the public’s welfare. The club also participates in local volunteer opportunities, and sponsors a needy family every year around the holidays.

Human ServicesAdvisor: Rob Van Meir

The purpose of the Human Services Club is to support the activities and projects of LCC, to further civic, campus, professional and social activities of interest to its members, and to promote community awareness through active service. The clubs allows students the opportunity to put into action the skills and knowledge they gain from their educational experiences at the College.

Lamplighters (LPN)Advisor: Rebecca Niles

The Lamplighters Club is an organization established to enhance practical nursing student involvement in the college community, promote practical nursing in the community, foster professionalism in nursing, and provide opportunities for fellowship and support amongst club members. The club participates in college events and supports the community through donations to the homeless shelter and needy families each year. The club activities fosters a team spirit and pride for the nursing profession.

Medical AssistingAdvisor: Beckie Dail

The Medical Assisting Club is an organization established for the Medical Assisting students to promote and create interest and encourage participation. The purpose of the organization is to enhance it’s students involvement in the LCC community, promote Medical Assisting in the community, foster a link with all community health agencies, foster professionalism in Medical Assisting, and provide opportunities for fellowship and support among club members.

Student Clubs and OrganizationsBiomechanics Club Advisor: Dr. Steven Koehler

The purpose of the Biomechanics Club is to enhance therapeutic massage student involvement in the Lenoir Community College community. The club also promotes therapeutic massage in the community, fosters professionalism in therapeutic massage, helps educate the community to the benefits of therapeutic massage, and provides opportunities for fellowship and support among its club members.

Computer EngineeringAdvisor: David Jones

The purpose of the Computer Engineering Technology (CET) Club is to give the students of the CET program an organization to socialize among themselves. The club provides an avenue for students to show leadership by performing as officers. The students learn organizational skills by organizing and planning the events that the club sponsors. The CET Club is open to all Computer Engineering Technology students.

Lenoir Community College has several clubs and organizations that students can join, and holds campus-wide events that students can participate in throughout the school year.

Getting Involved Criminal Justice Advisor: Pat Wright

The Criminal Justice Club works to broaden and promote scholarship among students engaged in preparation for a profession in one of the criminal justice system’s three major components: law enforcement, courts and corrections. The club provides the opportunity for members to meet with professionals in these fields and provides a forum for keeping abreast of new developments in criminal justice. The Club hosts guest speakers currently active in the field, organizes and conducts field trips, and participates in local criminal justice outreach opportunities.

EngineeringAdvisor: Jonathan Tyndall

The purpose of the Engineering Club is to promote the disciplines of engineering, to develop students problem-solving techniques through the use of mathematical and scientific methods, and to prepare students for the transfer process. This will be achieved by involvement with guest speakers, social activities, meetings, and/or community projects.

Gay-Straight AllianceAdvisor: Laura Barnes

The Gay-Straight Alliance is an organization made up of a diverse population of students. Together they work for tolerance, education and understanding. The club supports activities to educate fellow students about stopping hate and bullying. The club also sponsors holiday meals and gifts for the needy in the service area.

Graphic Arts & Imaging TechnologyAdvisor: Dwight Downie

The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology (GAIT) Club’s purpose is to enhance the overall college experience by providing opportunities for graphics students to interact with classmates, faculty and staff, other students, and to assist members of the club in being better qualified to

Club life has been greatsince becoming the SGA President at Lenoir Community College. I

have been given the opportunity to meet and network with a lot of great people. I also enjoy being able to assist the student body. Hosting events that help the community is an added bonus, because when you strengthen the community I believe you strengthen Lenoir Community College.
