Checking and finding: after dismantle the top cover of the housing, we found the bearing without outer groove and also without greasing holes. Lubrication of container crane`s rolling elements consider one of the most important issue of the crane preventive maintenance program.

Action and corrective action: Dismantle of old bearing, Fig.05, and install new bearing With lubrication groove and lubrication holes at outer ring, Fig.06.New bearing 22226 E.

Assembly housing and re-lubrication: Assemblies the housing cover and lubricates the bearing. Fig07

Grease

Conclusions:

Preliminary detect of bearing greasing problem.

Keeping open line and contact between greasing technicians and their supervisors.

Prevent failures of bearing before happened.

Awareness sessions for maintenance technicians about the relation between bearing housing and bearing type.

Machinery erection technicians also should be understood the behavior and path of bearing lubrication to early detect any problems during erection stage.

Preliminary mechanical designers should be aware by this example.
