They were both young mulatto slaves who were living in Mexico in 17th centuryGertrudis de Escobar was born around 1644.Both of Gertrudis parents died leaving her and her brothers behindShe was put to work as a servant in Mexico CityShe was also beaten many times by the nuns for misbehavingDidn’t believe in god so was sent to work on sugar plantationsShe was treated really bad and never got away from anything She always got punished and beatDetermined to be free at the end

labor marketJuan de Morga was born a slave but unlike the others he knew how to read and write It was really important o know how to read and write and he was a lucky man because slaves aren’t supposed to learn anythingHe also struggled through the beatings and would get punished tooEmployed by the colonial society as well as Gertrudis

Dutch soldier named Jacob ClaesonIn the mid 17th century he came to New Netherlands He had some very good businesses that he created and traded with the Indians Spend his time trading and creating his new homeJacob became an Englishmen that's why he changed his name to Jacob Young
Thomas PetersHe was twenty-two years old and lived in
NigeriaThomas was captured by the African Slave Traders He was sold and transported to a shipHe would get whipped and had coals put on their lipsMany people died because of the beaten that they gotThomas was married man that lived with his wife and kidsHe was later after the war send to New York and from there to Nova ScotiaThen died a couple years later searching for his freedom
