Transcript of Structural alteration case study for the commercial sector
Deconstruct UK case study for the commercial sector.
Client: Galliford Try PLCLocation: Chancery Lane
Contractor: Deconstruct UK LtdCompletion Date: August 2011
Sector: Commercial
About the Project:
Structural alteration to re-configure stair andlift core in Chancery Lane, London.
Deconstruct were contracted by Galliford Try to remove the existing roof structure and stair and lift core over six floors.
This involved the design and installation of significant temporary works which required fluid input from our designers as structures were opened up.
Chancery Lane is at the heart of the Law fraternity and the environmental impact of the works had to be assessed throughout the project duration.
Project Challenges:
Chancery Lane is a narrow busy street where the loading away of materials was problematic, additionally, to the rear of the project is a small courtyard of commercial buildings, Quality Court, all requiring the least amount of disturbance from the works.
Temporary works design needed constant review and development.
