WHAT IS A DATA STORAGE DEVICE ?

A device for storing information . Storing can be done in any

form, spanning from manual power in handwriting , to

vibrations in phonographic recording, or storage on optical

devices using electromagnetic energy.

DEVICE ?

A device or a computer equipment, in or on which

data and instructions can be stored, usually in

binary form. Such as a magnetic tape, disk, etc.

PRIMARY STORAGE DEVICES

Memory area of computer where current data is stored

Directly accessible to CPU

Also known as RAM(random access memory), main

memory or internal memory

Primary storage device This type of storage is the fastest type of memory in your

computer and is used to store data while it's being used.

For example, when you open a program data is moved

from the secondary storage Into the primary storage.

1. It is located between CPU and main memory (RAM).2. It is also known as intelligent memory.

It is a volatile memory.

Made of integrated circuits.

Used in executing instructions.

Its uses an older interface to connect hard disk.

It uses a newer and faster interface to connect with computer.

It is thinner than ATA.

Dont use any moving parts which make it noiseless and power saver. It is DRAM based technology.

Access data in less than 10 microseconds. Data transfer rate 1.5Gb/s.
