You can use any yarn you have in your stash to make thisblanket and even use multiple strands of yarn like I did.

The simplest way to check what size your blanket will be, is tomeasure the size of the chain you’ve made. It’s worth noting thatyour chain length will change a little once you’ve startedworking stitches into it, so give it a light stretch when you’remeasuring it.

If you want to ensure the exact finished size of your blanket, youwill need to make a gauge swatch with the yarn and hook youhave chosen, and calculate your starting chain based on thenumber of stitches within your 4 inch/10cm square.

You can read about how to make a gauge swatch here:https://www.cosyrosieuk.co.uk/how-to-crochet-a-tension-swatch

When selecting your yarns to put together, stick to yarns thatare made with the same materials. For example: don’t use a100% acrylic yarn with a 80% Acrylic & 20% wool yarn, makesure the strands are all the same fibre.

You can also use differently sized yarns alongside each other! You don’t have to use 2 strands of DK/size 3 yarn, but workingout the hook size that works best would be a bit of trial anderror. Remember to consistently use the same sized strandsthroughout your project to prevent your gauge changing.
