Being strategic

With your role, your projects, and your time

“Being more strategic doesn’t mean making decisions that affect the whole organization or allocating scarce budget dollars. It requires only that you put the smallest decision in the context of the organization’s broader goals.”

Liane Davey, “Strengthen Your Strategic Thinking Muscles”, Harvard Business Review, January 21, 2014

Reflection

• Think about what your organization is trying to accomplish

• Write down some things you can do in the next month to move those goals forward

Pair and Share• Share with your partner

• How does that connect back to the organization’s goals?

• When do you think you can get that done?

• What resources do you need to accomplish that?

The Next Step Put it into practice!
