We are also excited to announce that Gooding Family Physicians has integrated with NCMC! GFP, a local family physician office in Gooding, has been independently operated since 2004 by Dr. Reid Lofgran and Ian Kunz, PA-C. “Over the past few years it has become increasingly difficult to manage all the changes in health care and still maintain the quality time we want to dedicate to our patients. Over the past several years we have carefully considered how we can best serve our patients and our community. During that time we have worked closely with North Canyon Medical Center to discuss our practice integrating with the hospital. Today the agreement has been finalized and we are so excited to share the news with our patients and community,” stated Reid Lofgran, DO. “Initiating and finalizing this agreement, with the hospital, will allow us more time to focus on patient care while the hospital manages the business operations,” he stated. As part of the agreement, the providers and staff at Gooding Family Physicians will be employed by North Canyon Medical Center. Patients of Gooding Family Physicians will see few changes as the current services will remain at the current GFP location, including; scheduling appointments, medication refills, payments, and billing questions. “This agreement is a first for North Canyon Medical Center and a win-win for the community. With healthcare focus moving towards population health, this integration will position both NCMC and GFP to meet the needs of our patients,” stated Lucy Osborne, Partner’s in Healthcare Board Chairman.

North Canyon Medical Center Earns ACR Accreditation 2014

North Canyon Medical Center, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninva-sive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medi-cal physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement. The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncolo-gists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

$10,000.00 GRANT AWARDED TO NCMC

NCMC Diagnostic Imaging Department has been awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000.00 from Susan G Komen to be used over the next year. This grant along with money from the North Canyon Medical Center Foundation allows women to have a mammogram when they are not able to afford it.

Alex Hagen Plant Operator

Candice grew up in Ririe Idaho. A tiny town in Eastern Idaho. She graduated from Idaho State University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Radiographic Science. She has an awesome husband (Robert) who is an 8th grade teacher in Wendell and an EMT and two terrific kids; Zach age 14, and Elsie age 8. They also have a 13 lb Miniature Schnauzer named Minnie who thinks she is a Rottweiler and a cat named Sox who thinks he is a person!

For fun Candice has so many hobbies/projects that she would “love” to do, but with kids and work and all her other responsibilities, she doesn’t have much time left. “IF” she does have any free time, she enjoys reading (well, it’s actually audio books on her portable mp3, because she doesn’t have time to sit down and read, and it’s all about multi-tasking)! She met her husband who grew up in Jerome and was teaching in Wendell. Candice was working in Idaho Falls at the time and applied here at NCMC and got the job! “It’s been a great experience working here the last 11 years and I have developed a lot of lifelong friendships. Our “Skeleton Crew” in Diagnostic Imaging are like my family.” When asked what she would do if she won the lottery Candice said “If there was any left after the govern-ment took its share… I would pay off all my family’s medical bills, buy a new house so my family could have more than one bathroom, put enough in savings that my kids’ college would be paid for, and finally try to take my kids on more family vacations!” Alex was born in Twin Falls and raised mostly as a Southern Idaho kid. He graduat-ed from Jerome High School and married his wonderful and tolerant wife, Tara, of more than 19 years. They have two very active teenagers: Thayne is their 16 year old son and Alexi is their 13 year old daughter. Alex does not have any pets but the wife and kids harbor 2 dogs and 2 cats. When asked about hobbies, Alex replied “I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies since we are always fulfilling the kid’s active schedules. I do enjoy camping with friends, long trips on the Rhino, coyote hunting, sturgeon fishing, and recently I am getting into bow-fishing. To the chagrin of my wife, I have been known to buy and sell items for profit with huge success. I personally define success as breaking even.” A large part of the decision to come to NCMC was his short commute from Shoshone. For years he had spent two unproductive hours per day behind a steering wheel. Now the worst part of the commute is that his coffee does not have a chance to cool off before he arrives at work! If Alex won the lottery he would likely bet it all on red, and then see you at work the next day.
