The day is perfect for industry professionals
and those involved in feral animal
management, as well as members of thegeneral public, community groups, and
interested landholders.
GUEST SPEAKERS INCLUDE:
• Stuart Murphy from Philip Island, Victoria, where foxes
are on the verge of being successfully eradicated.
• Michael Dickinson, Australia Wildlife and Feral Animal
Management, who has extensive experience in a
range of control methods across Australia.
• Representatives from the State Government and
industry to talk about feral animal management
issues.
There will also be an opportunity to visit feral
animal management sites on the Island.
The Forum, brings together a number of experts to discusstechniques, opportunities and challenges in pest animalcontrol and will showcase examples from across the country,including work on Victoria’s Philip Island where foxes areon the verge of being successfully eradicated.

Stradbroke Island is a world renowned tourist destination with a beautifulcoastline, national park and a rich cultural history. It is home to a number ofthreatened wildlife species that unfortunately are impacted by pest animalssuch as foxes and cat’s. A fox for example can eat on average around3 animals in one day.
The Straddie Pest Management Group are putting Straddie’s wildlife rst, as part of anew initiative towards an integrated approach to manage pest animals on the Islandthat will see landholders working together to achieve the best outcomes for thelocal and wider community.

The Straddie Pest Management Group is a
group of Straddie’s land managers working
collectively using a full spectrum of approved
methods to control pest animals such as
foxes and feral cats that prey on a number of
wildlife including Straddie’s endangered sea
turtles, bandicoots, threatened frog species,
internationally protected shorebirds, and the
rare and secretive water mouse.
It is the frst time that a group like this brings
together all of the landholders on Straddie to
achieve the best long term results, supported
by the local communty.
