Asian Elephants

• Asian Elephants• - also know as the Indian

Elephants• Elephants use their

trunks to greet each other by entwining them, like a handshake.

• They also use their trunks to play-wrestle and to caress a mate during courtship.

Elephants Cooling Down

• Elephants drinking water along the river bank.

• Elephants use their trunks to drink and spray water on their backs as a watery coat then spray mud and dirt to dry – creating a protective sunscreen.

• Elephants tend to travel in packs.

• Elephants bathing.• Elephants are located in

37 countries in Africa.• Elephants are also

located in Asia and on the island of Sri Lanka.

• African Bush Savanna Elephants

• - with the little one• Savanna Elephants are

the largest of all elephants.

• The female is smaller than the male elephant.

Forest Elephant

• Forest Elephant and the Savanna Elephant can breed together successfully.

• These elephants are found in open grasslands, marshes, and lakeshores.

• Elephant Mom leads her baby home.

• Elephants Mom carry their unborn for approximately 22 months.

• Infants weigh approximately 260 pounds at birth.
