Transcript of StoreGrid : Replication Server
Creating a Disaster Recovery Plan with StoreGrid.
Life is not that easy
What if Primary Storegrid Backup Server itself crashes due to disaster???
The Solution is ………
Disaster Recovery
Disaster Recovery how ???????
Replication Server
• StoreGrid supports replicating a backup server to a replication server. Replicating the backup data in the backup server is done to create redundant copies of the backup data.
• In case the backup server crashes, it can be restored from the replicated data in the replication server.
• Replication Server can only replicate a StoreGrid Server (or Client Server)• StoreGrid Backup Server can be restored from the replication server• Clients can restore data from the replication server• Clients cannot backup to the replication server• The replication server can be at a separate location from the backup server

Replication Management
• Configure Replication - Clicking on this icon will take you to the "Replication Configuration" page. You can configure and schedule replication of backup data from this page.
• Server Disaster Recovery - Clicking on this icon will take you to the "Server Disaster Recovery" page. You can recover the backup server from the Replication Server in case of any catastrophe affecting the backup server thereby necessitating a Disaster Recovery operation.
• Server Disaster Recovery Reports - This icon will only show up if the server was previously restored from the replication server. Clicking on this will take you to the "Server Disaster Recovery Reports" page where you can view reports for all backups that were recovered from the Replication Server.
Install Storegrid in a separate machine in Replication mode configure the backup location appropriately for the replication server. In the Primary Server, configure replication and the replication server from the "Server Admin-
>Replication Management" . Click on 'Configure Replication' tab
Step 1: Enable Replication : By checking the checkbox, you can enable replication for the Backup Server.
Replication Server : From the choice box, choose the replication server to which this backup server's data should be replicated.
Step 2 : Set CPU utilization.
Attempt to replicate the backed up data every 5 minutes in case of non completion because of a problem (Network error etc.)
Step 3 : Choose Replicate time
Replicate While Receiving a Backup:
Replicate Immediately After Receiving a Backup:
Replicate Every Few Hours:
Replicate Daily
Replicate Weekly

• Install StoreGrid in a new primary server. While installing make sure you provide an appropriate backup location for the new primary server.
• Stop the primary StoreGrid server.• Stop the Replication Server.• Manually copy the backup storage location from the
replication server to the backup storage location in the new primary server. Overwrite any database files already in the primary server location with the database files from the replication server.
• Now start the primary server.• Now all the clients can start backing up to the new primary
server.
