Pakistan is a country enriched with marble and granite reserves and majorly exports sandstone and basalt to other countries. Hence, the potential is immense. Major deposits of premium Granite, Marble and Onyx in a wide range of colors, textures, shades and patterns offers a huge market for the opportunity seekers to explore. As much as 300 billion tonnes of qualitative Marble reserves are estimated to be present in various colors.

Areas of Malakand, Mardan, Hazara, Peshawar, Chitral, Buner, Swat, Parachinar, Swabi and Kohat divisions have high potency of mineral reserves where as Khuzdar and Mianwali have huge deposits of Granite and Marble. The province of Sindh treasures golden marble, coral marble and black gold, which is highly priced in the global market. Reserves of dark green onyx with layers of light green in Chaghai district and other rare shades of onyx total about 34 million cubic meters. Under the Govern-ment plans for development carried out by PASDEC, various marble cities are to be established besides 10 model quarries in various parts of the country which is believed to generate over Rs 1 Billion each month.

A conference will be held on the second day of the exhibition, where leading speakers will address and share about the industry’s latest trends and developments. The conference will also highlight resourc-es on the latest technology and equipments.

Pakistan offers hundreds of varieties of high quality stone and marble from one of the richest asset bases in the world! Conference partici-pants will gain first‐hand market information on the opportunities in the stone and marble industry from key industry players and govern-ment contacts.

The exports of Marble and Onyx together resulted in USD $52 Million in the past year only. The authorities estimate the figure of finished and raw marble, along with onyx exports to reach USD $100 Million by the fiscal year end 2013. Around 80 different types of marble are present in Balochistan only which is of extreme fine quality and international trade standards. Analysts are positive to stretch these exports to USD $200 Million a year with some value-added techniques to the exported products.

Countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia, the Middle East, the United States and Malaysia are most prominent regions to import semi- finished marble and onyx products from Pakistan. Likewise, 52 countries all over the world import Pakistan’s marble, granite and onyx whereas China is the largest importer of Pakistan’s squared marble, granite and onyx blocks.
