Stockholm and it’s Metro

The Stockholm Metro is considered to be

“The longest art galery in the world.”

The Metro consists of 3 main lines (Blue, Red and Green)

and is almost 110 km long.

It has 100 stations, 47 underground and 53 above the

ground.

All Stockholm Metro stations have unique decor and atmosphere.

Natural rock foundation is used in many places and all stations are

decorated by various creative expressions.

Statues of stone, metal and inserts from various materials, including bright color paintings are used

throughout the Stockholm Metro.

The result is beautiful...

Metro station “Rissne” has an exhibit with information about the Earth’s civilization.

Visuals of birds, animals, flowers, men and women were created by Swedish artist Helga Henschen

with the message

“Welcome to the World”

The first section of the Stockholm Metro was opened in

1950.

All Metro stations are decorated with living art and it was attempted to make a connection to the living

environment.

Work of some 150 artists is represented.

Many of the Stockholm Metro stations are carved into solid

native rock and the impression is that you enter

Stone Age,

but in XXI century.
