Joe and Tammy grew up together in the small boarder town of Bluefield W. Va. a short hike and they would be in the small town of Bluefield Va. In the early days Tammy and Joe were inseparable, growing up in the same house with Joe always keep-ing a watchful eye on his younger niece, who was really more like a sister to him. Celebrat-ing birthdays and holidays together for many years. The two became like one, knowing what the other was thinking or about to say before they even said it. Joe would help Tammy with her school projects and Tammy would help Joe find his lost books or toys or help him wash his bike. They were a team then much like they are today. Now, Tammy helps Joe with most every aspect of the Hearing Center. Greeting the patients upon arrival with her sparkling personality, working with clients on the proper care and maintenance of their new hearing aids.

After 22 years in Law Enforcement Joe decided to refocus his career path. Joe knew he would need to be involved in helping people and searched for a new career that would allow him to move in that direction. Joe’s brother in law worked in the hearing healthcare field and after some considerable research Joe decided to move forward in the hearing healthcare field. After Joe completed his training and schooling he ended his highly decorated career in Law Enforcement and retired from the St. Lucie County Sheriff ’s Office. Joe was licensed in 2002 by the State of Florida as a Hearing Aid Specialist and opened his first practice in St. Lucie West in 2003 and today, continues to help people as he has done his entire professional career.

Tammy, in her career as a professional care giver, had seen far too many times the heartbreak of hearing loss. How the loss would impact not just the patient but the loved ones around them as well. Joe worked, went to school, studied and became a Florida State Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist. He knew that improving and restoring hearing to those in need would become his passion and his quest. He also knew that he could think of no one he would rather tackle this challenge with then his trusted best friend, Tammy. Today and for the past 11 years Joe and Tammy are giving back the gift of hearing to friends and neighbors from around the Treasure Coast.

TRADITION — The Pee Wee team of the Treasure Coast Ren-egades recently won the Super Bowl in their league. It was a re-markable achievement for the 9- and 10-year-old football players, because the Renegades was only formed in January 2013. The nonprofit league has more than 300 kids ages 5-13 on age-appro-priate football and cheerleading teams. Keith Engler, a Tradition res-

ident who works for Arby’s as a regional director, was one of the league’s founders. He and oth-ers, including Bill Vega, assis-tant chief of police for the Port St. Lucie Police Department and league president, came up with the idea. “We’d been in a local league and

decided to strike out on our own,” Engler said. “We wanted an elite, more talented league. We put a

board together and talked to the community. We had backing from the community and local vendors and we knew it was something

we could do as long as we had players.” For coaches, the board spoke to

people who had a great deal of ex-

perience as high school coaches or college football players.

The male has short, faded black hair with a light mustache.

ST. LUCIE WEST — With the holiday shopping season in full swing, it’s important shoppers, gym goers and other motorists lock all valuables in the trunk of their cars, out of sight from thieves looking for an easy heist. Two thieves recently made their

way into cars parked at two dif-ferent gyms in Port St. Lucie and police are asking for the public to help identify the pair. In both incidents, credit cards were stolen from the vehicles and used at three Publix locations in St. Lucie West, Tradition and Port St. Lucie and a Walgreens and Redbox in

St. Lucie West. On Oct. 22, sometime between

7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., police received a report of a car break-in at Mission Fitness, located at 460 S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. The victim told police that when she returned to her car after working out, she noticed that someone had burglarized her car and stole her credit card, which was sub-sequently used in the western portion of the city. The victim found the driver’s

side door on her 2004 Chevy Suburban unlocked. The keyhole appeared to be damaged from a forced entry, Port St. Lucie Police Master Sgt. Frank Sabol said. Four days later on Oct. 26,

St. Lucie West needs to secede from the municipality known as Port St. Lucie, which has no port, is lacking in clarity of vision, and is a woeful example of how not to govern its citizen-ry! I am sick and tired of how we in St. Lucie West are the cash cow for the town’s ongoing roll-ing band of political deficits, yet are the zero sum at their dais of doom. Seriously, all we need to do

out here is form an exploratory secession committee, hire several of our resident lawyers pro se, dig in our heels, and throw open our windows to scream, “We’re not going to take it anymore!” When St. Lucie West eagerly was assumed into the hall of broken dreams, the city got our huge and growing income stream which they promptly morphed into a BILLION-dollar elephant now on the backs of all of us. Year after year, month after month, news-paper article after article, we read of inept, inexperienced, foolish leadership decisions, yet noth-ing except the politicians’ names ever change. Therefore, we have to step up to the metaphorical plate and take action on our own behalf. Speaking of plates, has anyone

ever driven around home plate out here? Has anyone ever driv-en around the rows and rows of EMPTY small business units out here by Commerce Drive? What’s being done about the empty store fronts at the Shoppes?

Hello? Where is our Gayle Har-rell Lady in Waiting out here in District 2? Only a temper fit at the time of

the re-election campaign when our Larry Cohen mounted a bid for Councilwoman Berger’s seat did we get St. Lucie West Boulevard repaired, and then only with a slap dash coating of surface application. The compar-ison between our boulevard with the Westmoreland entry into the PSL Council’s dependable voting bloc is appalling. Lovely plant-ings, beautiful blooming flow-ers, well-tended, immaculately groomed landscapes and medians pronounce each day what you get for playing ball with the PSL politicos. While out here, we have to do a two-step to get into the right lane for entry into a lovely but passed over country club, and we have to look at dismal pitiful looking excuses for trees and bushes that sorely need hair

cuts. Drivers get through out here only by luck and pant seats.Look, it’s time to take action,

Westerners. Our lovely hospital will be drawing patients from far and wide. Our medical tech cen-ters need the governance, fore-sight, and financial acumen we can provide, but PSL cannot. We need two more new members on their town council board that never was expanded when we were sucked into their political sinkhole. We need respect and honor given to our very low crime areas, our gated communities made necessary because of un-equal governance by politicians who year after year rape our love-ly community out here known as St. Lucie West! Look, I’ve never made a lot of

money from my three degrees in journalism but covering years of council meetings taught me the verity of the reporter’s ax-iom: “Citizens get the type of government they deserve!” Only the towns with the informed and involved voters got results from the small Indiana towns I covered. Their politicians would NEVER have pulled some of the affronts we read about Sunday on the Scripps’ pages of dis-grace. These 10 blunders and scandals only skim the surface of a history of crazy political an-tics. Just imagine the silly back and forth of emails, arrests, he said-she said. Who would ever sign a $10 million sales contract without buyer caveats, or then af-ter business failure, turn around

and enter into another $14 million empty paper agreement without SECURITY DEPOSIT protection for taxpayer dollars? We have no security out here in

St. Lucie West. We get little to no sincere or interested attention from politicians who only see our lovely town as their credit card without spending limits. Digital Domain happened out here. Tra-dition Field needs work, as do our roads and byways. Our elderly citizens deserve a voice at the politicos’ microphone. We need to be able to say where we are from without residents in other Florida towns rolling their eyes. Another reporter’s axiom that

is so true says: “Silence is Con-sent.” Seriously, St. Lucie West, let’s form an exploratory commit-tee, and let’s form our own lovely town out here, free of the polit-ical mess that never ends. Why keep throwing our good money into their endless sinkhole? We are better than what is going on. We have the know-how, the experienced retired executives, administrators, medical advis-ers. We have Florida’s newest, most gorgeous cathedral. We can reclaim some of that top-heavy salary stream from educators that operate in the shadows of make nice meetings, smiles, and then out of town commutes to their home communities. No more dry wall flops for us. This is ridiculous! Let’s secede from Port St. Lucie NOW. Suzanne Eovaldi St. Lucie West

between 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m., police received a call about a car break-in at Planet Fitness, located at 3225 S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. In this case, the victim forgot to lock his doors, Sabol said.Police believe the two men are

working together, Sabol said. The first suspect is described

as a dark-skinned black male approximately 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10” tall with a stocky build of 190 to 225 pounds. The male has short, faded black hair with a light mus-tache. The second suspect is de-

scribed as a light-skinned black male approximately 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing between 155 to 175 pounds. He has short black hair, mustache and beard with thick sideburns. It’s vital to take precautionary

measures while parking in city

plazas to ensure you don’t fall victim to a crime, Sabol said. “Try to park in a well-lit area,”

Sabol said. “If shopping at multi-ple stores, don’t leave items visible in the car, put them in the trunk.” The closer you park to a store

entrance, the less likely a vehicle break-in is to occur, Sabol said. “Some people like to park really

far, but park up front, because (thieves) will be deterred by the witnesses in the area,” Sabol said. Gym parking lots are often gold

mines for thieves, Sabol said. “They figure they have time and

people will be in there (working out) for up to an hour,” Sabol said. If anyone has any information

they should call Detective Kevin Kaminski at (772) 871-5053 or [email protected] or Detective Maiga Auguste at (772) 807-4422, or [email protected] or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS.

The well organized groups such as the A.C.L.U., the gays, the agnostics and atheists have caused the government to create a politically correct atmosphere by removing God from all public places. Even big business has been affected. There is no longer “Merry Christmas” in the busi-ness world but “Happy Holi-days.” As a fellow Christian, I’m

sure you’re aware of the effort to remove Christ and God from

today’s society. In 2004, the Associated Press reported that Federated Department Stores issued a memorandum prohib-iting their sales associates from greeting shoppers with a cheerful “Merry Christmas.” They were directed to say “Happy Holidays” instead. They even try to change our Christmas tree to a “holiday” tree. We Christians are the larg-

est block of consumers in the nation. Corporate America has succeeded in removing “Christ” from “Christmas.” We must band together to put Christ back in Christmas and deliver its true meaning to our nation. I, and my fellow Christians,

have embarked on a program to bring back the true meaning of Christmas. We wish to blanket the whole

city with car window stickers and lawn signs to state “Keep Christ in Christmas.” We wish to share this program with anyone in the endeavor to have cooper-ation amongst all Christians no matter what denomination they may be. It is our hope to develop a consortium of all denomina-tions to work together to have Merry Christmas restored in the corporate business world. By boycotting any business which elects to use “Happy Holidays” in place of “Merry Christmas,” we can effectively restore the true

meaning of the holiday season. It must be remembered that Christmas is one of American’s national holidays and should not be compromised. God bless you and America.

Domenick Scarlato served in the U.S. Navy on active duty from 1944-48 and later in the Naval Reserve and National Guard. He holds a doctorate of education and because of his work in spe-cial education, has been involved in an advisory capacity while changes to national mental health care policies occurred over the last 50 years. He has been a St. Lucie West resident for 14 years.

charged with both criminal and civil infractions for violating the state’s open records law, known as Sunshine Law, in connection with former city manager Greg Oravec’s controversial February release. Bowen was charged with a second-degree misdemeanor for attending a meeting of the council on Feb. 2 through an intermediary, city attorney Roger Orr, during which two or more members of council took official action about offering Oravec a severance package, state attor-ney Bruce Colton said. If convict-ed, Bowen faces up to 60 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $500. Mayor JoAnn Faiella was

charged with two civil infrac-tions. The first for deleting text messages and a second for communicating through Orr, documents state. Councilwoman Shannon Martin was charged with a civil infraction for destroy-ing text messages. Each infrac-tion carries a fine of up to $500 each. Vice Mayor Linda Bartz and

Councilwoman Michelle Berg-er were not charged with any wrongdoing. The governor has the power

to suspend any elected munic-

ipal officer who is arrested and charged with a misdemeanor related to his or her office duties, Florida law states. Bowen is sus-pended until further notice, the order, signed by Scott, states. Berger believes the suspension

is just and provides Bowen time to defend himself in court. “He still has his job,” Berger

clarified. “Ron is not the first to be

suspended,” Berger said. “When people are charged in criminal issues, they are suspended.” According to city charter, the

city has no more than 90 days from the suspension to hold a special election to fill Bowen’s seat, senior assistant city attor-ney Pam Booker said. A special election could cost

more than $100,000 said Book-er, who is planning to meet with the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections to determine how much the election will cost tax-payers. Should Bowen be cleared of the charges before the election is held, he can assume his seat. If he’s cleared after the special election, he can also resume his membership on the city council, Booker said. Ron Bowen and Mayor JoAnn

Faiella could not be reached for comment by press time.

ability and dependability,” he said. “It’s not just if a kid is a good athlete. We ask, ‘What are the parents’ values?’ We’re mak-ing sure we have the right par-ents, not just the right kids. “We call it the Renegades Fami-

ly and it’s the parents, the coach-es and the kids. Kevin Davis, a phenomenal coach, took the Pee Wee team to the Super Bowl. More than 100 people traveled to Viera to support the team. We made a day of it and celebrated the win together.” Engler said that all of the

coaches understand that they are preparing kids for life, not just sports. All of the coaches have children who are cheering or playing football, so they un-derstand the importance of what they are doing from two perspec-tives. The teams are able to play their

home games at John Carroll High School, and Engler said that this level of community support has been a tremendous help. “The acceptance from the com-

munity is overwhelming,” he said. (At John Carroll,) you have a 7-year-old on a high school foot-ball field. It’s an experience they’ll remember for the rest oftheir

years.” Engler said that the league is

a way for people to return some-thing to the community. “We want it to be a legacy,” he

said. “We want it to be here for a long time. We’re just regular working guys, wanting to give back to the community. It’s not about me. It’s about the league and the teams and the parents.”

ST. LUCIE WEST — Looking for a trusted firearm dealer close to home with the best prices? First-time buyer in need of a knowl-edgeable seller to help in your search for the perfect self-defense hand gun? Your Voice News & Views has found the silver bul-let fix for any armory and sport shooting need and it’s been nes-tled in your backyard for the past

two years.Shooter’s Choice, located at 492

N.W. Concourse Place in St. Lucie West, is the largest discount arms dealer on the Treasure Coast, part owner Thom Jones said. The shop, located in the industrial area of town adjacent to Tradition Field, sells virtually every line of firearms, including Glock, Smith & Wesson, Kimber, Sig Sauer, Taurus, Ruger and Bushmaster.Shooter’s Choice is also part

of the National Firearms Dealer Network, the largest online gun

shopping mall in the U.S. That means one can purchase a fire-arm directly from the network’s website at www.nfdmall.com and have it shipped and ready for pick-up at Shooter’s Choice in 72 hours with no transfer fee, Jones said. For the more hands-on shop-

per, the staff at the shop are knowledgeable and ensure each customer leaves with the perfect firearm to suit his or her specific needs, Jones said. Every gun in the shop is available for under

full list price, Jones added.“You can try these guns before

you actually buy them,” Jones said. It’s $25 to rent multiple fire-arms for a three-hour period.Jones and his partner and other

owner Rick Cooper are usually behind the case ready to help.“We spend a lot of time with

our customers. We’ll work with them,” Jones said. “If we don’t have it in stock, we can get it very quickly ... we can also customize

them to fit the customer’s need.”Both owners said their specialty

is self-defense guns. Their best sellers are defense carry guns, which can be easily concealed on the body.“Rick and I are gun enthusiasts.

We both grew up with guns,” Jones said. “Handguns are very popular in Florida. We saw a need in the market and we have a niche because we do mostly self-defense and we also do the AR-style platform rifles, or tac-

tical guns, so it’s been a really good niche for us.”Buying the perfect gun is a

unique experience. One gun does not fit all, but the 380 is a popu-lar form of ammo, Jones said. Twenty-two caliber handguns

are lightweight, easy to use with little recoil and enjoyable to shoot on the range. The 9mm is the most common round in the U.S. and is also a common self-de-fense round, Jones added.“It gets very personal, but the

ST. LUCIE WEST — A local case of theft was caught on cam-era by the victim’s home security system and now it’s up to the public to examine the footage, find clues from the images and hopefully help crack the caper. Port St. Lucie Police are seek-

ing the public’s help to find the person responsible for stealing a set of hubcaps from a car at a home located near St. Lucie West Centennial High School. The crime happened on Nov. 24

at 3:20 a.m. at 1392 S.W. Janette Ave., police said. Newly installed surveillance

video from the residence shows a four door car, possibly a Nis-san Altima, pull up and park at the end of the victim’s driveway.

A white male exits the car and steals all four hubcaps off of the victim’s 2002 Honda Accord. The man then jumps back into the get-away car and flees the area, Master Sgt. Frank Sabol said. The suspect is described as a

white male approximately 5’4”- 5’6” tall weighing approximately 130 to 150 pounds. He has a large tattoo covering his right shoulder, which extends down his arm to his elbow, the footage depicts. The suspect’s car appeared to

be lacking hubcaps, said Sabol, who is hopeful that clue means this is an isolated incident. “We haven’t experienced a rash

of hubcap thefts,” Sabol added. If anyone has any information

they should call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS.

380 round is a very popular round. The 380 is really a short 9mm … invented by John Moses Browning in 1903. He took the 9mm in Europe, decked it down a little bit, same diameter, and put it into a semiautomatic pistol that he invented.”“He’s the father of the modern

American semiautomatic fire-arm,” Jones said. “In Florida it’s popular because it’s a lightweight round and it shoots nicely.”Jones, who was a commercial

banker before getting into the firearm industry 10 years ago, stressed safety comes first.“We sell a lot of safes, a lot

of holsters and we sell a lot of cleaning kits, so it’s just not the purchase. For us, it’s making sure the customer is comfort-able with the right gun and also knows how to handle it, then we want to show them how to clean it appropriately, because there’s a very specific way to clean a gun without putting yourself in dan-ger,” Jones said. The shop offers gun cleaning for

$25. Shooter’s Choice also takes gun trade-ins, repair, trigger work and can customize any fire-arm with accessories including sights and optics, Jones said. The shop also sells knives and less

deadly self-defense weapons like pepper spray. An attached shoot-ing range, under different owner-ship, boasts 12, 75-foot climate controlled lanes. The range offers a concealed weapons course for $55.Shooter’s Choice also sells

shotguns and AR-15’s. The large AR-15, named after ArmaLite, the company that started manufac-turing the guns in the 1950s, is typically used for hunting, sport shooting or home self-defense, Jones said. After just a few moments of con-

versation with Jones or Cooper, it becomes rapidly apparent the pair knows guns like the back of their hands since childhood.“I view guns as obviously self-de-

fense, but what got me into it was shooting targets, getting as good as I can,” said Cooper, an Okeechobee native. “It just par-layed itself into loving guns and loving guns turned into loving more guns and look at it now.”

“Peggy cared for our mom at home during a long illness so Mom could be with the family she loved. But in the final months when Mom’s condition got worse, her doctor recommended Treasure Coast Hospice. They provided expert care for Mom, supported our caregiving and guided the whole family. This was the relief we needed to enjoy time with Mom.”

With our support, families

can be more confident

caregivers and spend more

quality time together.

day you’re going to get a hold of them.” “I did not stop on Facebook watching for

(the chat light) to turn green to see if they’re online or if they’re chatting,” she said.McGinnis’ sister called after 72 hours to say

she and the rest of the family were OK, but that the area was all but leveled.“The people are still grateful that even

though they were flooded, they’re still grate-ful that they have their lives, they have their family and they still have their shelter,” Mc-Ginnis said.Palm City resident and Philippine native

Benne-Lane Church knows the same tor-ment as McGinnis. It took Church’s family in the remote coastal area of Casanayan more than a week to call. Although she had not yet heard from them as of the Nov. 16 supply drive, she still attended to help.“I (was) hoping and I have faith in God. I

had to occupy my mind,” Church said. “I was thinking by doing this I could remind my-self that there are people that still need my help.”Church’s family informed her that supplies

shipped in from around the world have al-ready been put to good use to save lives. The outpouring of support locally and globally has amazed Church.“It’s really important to reach out as human

beings,” Church said. “It doesn’t matter what race you are, you can feel it, you have the urge in your mind to just help.”St. Lucie West resident Teri Pinney said her

heart aches for her father’s homeland.

“I’m overwhelmed with pity and sorrow for the suffering going on over there,” Pinney said in an email from Germany, where she was visiting.Pinney praised the work of McGinnis, say-

ing the devastated country still needs more help.“Thanks to the leadership of Daisy McGin-

nis, president of the Philippine-American Association of the Treasure Coast, our com-munity has rallied together to help,” Pinney said. “Goods and materials for the Red Cross in the Philippines is good, but I also appeal people to donate cash to UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders or the Catholic Diocese of the Philippines.”

FORT PIERCE — The Indi-an River State College Chorale, under the direction of Dale Reith, will present a concert, “The Won-derful World of Music,” that takes listeners around the world and to different times in music history. The Dec. 8 concert will take place at the McAlpin Fine Arts Center on the IRSC main campus. Rieth, who holds a doctoral

degree from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, has been at IRSC since 1985. He knows his audience well. “The program has the choir

and smaller ensembles,” he said. “It’s a representation of our en-tire academic program. Variety is always our spice. Normally, this (winter) concert would be a more serious endeavor, but we’re dropping in some things that are a little bit lighter. It will show how versatile our singers are. For every piece, we’ll talk about it and students will offer translations of pieces in foreign languages.” The program opens with a

British and an Italian madrigal from the Renaissance. Rieth will talk about how the two cultures influenced each other in madrigal writing. Next, they will perform a contemporary French work that fuses into a Yeats poem, “The Cloths of Heaven.”

“Then we get a little sprightly with “A Spring Carol,” by Robert Louis Stevenson and three Amer-ican folk tunes that are contem-porary arrangements of Appala-chian tunes. “After that, we mix it up,” Rieth

said. “Different ensembles will

perform. There is a barbershop quartet, a Rihanna tune and a piece by Gershwin.” Rieth said that they were going

to feature a soloist, something they rarely do. “We attend an annual music

symposium where we meet up

with students from smaller col-leges,” he said. “One feature is a student scholarship. Our entry is Jernie Talles. She will sing an Italian aria.” The time of year dictates that

some holiday cheer take over the program. There will be tra-ditional favorites, contemporary songs and a new Christmas spiritual. The whole choir will invite

the audience to sing-along in a medley of carols,” Reith said. “Finally, we’ll close with a Christmas spiritual and ‘Ain’t No Grave Can Hold Me Down,’ with American Sign Language accompaniment. It’s nothing but fun.” For Rieth, the almost 30 years

he has spent at IRSC haven’t seemed like work.

“I thank my lucky stars ev-ery day,” he said. “We’ve got a strong group of students, they’re working hard and they’re sounding good. It’s not really work, it’s pleasurable.”

The Indian River State College Chorale presents a concert, “The Wonderful World of Music,” Dec. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the McAlpin Fine Arts Center, 3209 Virginia Ave, Fort Pierce. Tickets for the non-subscription

JazzScat Corner I can’t imagine a holiday with-

out music, can you? Whether it’s caroling in the ‘hood, singing around the piano at family gath-erings, dancing at holiday par-ties, or just enjoying the music of the season playing all around us everywhere we go, the fact of the matter is, the holiday just wouldn’t be the same with-out the opportunity to express

our emotions musically. This year, the stockings hung by the chimney (or patio) with care are absolutely jammed with great music courtesy of the incredibly talented musicians who share their time and talent with the Treasure Coast. We just finished the first of

four fabulous new Jazz Jams in Vero Beach at the Heritage Cen-

ter with our Dancin’ Shoes Jazz Jam, and what a fun time it was for all. We’ll be back there on the first Thursday of January, February, and March, so grab some friends and make a road trip for some seriously great music and a load of laughter and fun. This weekend the Fort Pierce

Jazz Ensemble will be swinging at the gazebo by the water in historic downtown Fort Pierce, as we celebrate the season and help put you in the holiday mood at the Jazz Market. You’re already there picking up fresh fruits and veggies, so why not skip the mall this weekend, and find some unique treasures from the artisans who display their

The whole evening is just $17, which helps Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society continue to pro-vide scholarships for talented, local youth who want to pursue a career in music. Even through the hectic month

of December, we’ll still be doing Tuesday Jazz Jams at the Black Box Theatre in Fort Pierce, Wednesday Jazz Jams every other Wednesday at Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens (Dec. 11), Jazz Jams Deux on Dec. 4 and 18 at Tutto Fresco (and if you haven’t been there on Jazz Jam night, you simply must try the specially priced jazz-menu), and we’ll even ring in the new year with a truly special New Year’s Day Dinner Dance at Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens that is sure to start your New Year off right with some big band music and dancing in the Gar-dens. What a way to celebrate the holidays, and every bit of it is right here in your own back yard. Still looking for that perfect

holiday gift? Why not give some-one the gift of music all year long with a membership to the

Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Soci-ety? All it takes is a phone call or visit to our website, www.jazzsociety.org, and you can do a whole bunch of holiday shop-ping while sitting at home with your feet up. What more could you ask for? The holidays are filled with

traditions, family, friends, re-flection, and always, always, always, music. On behalf of all of us at Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society, I want to thank the people of the Treasure Coast for supporting the arts in our community and for coming out to enjoy the many musical adventures we try to provide. We love making music, but we love it more when the music we make puts a smile on your face and a song in your heart. Happy holidays, one and all from one and all at Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society.

Don Bestor, a pianist/key-boardist with 27 years of “on the road” experience, 17 years of producing shows, and 12 years as a studio owner/engineer and president of the Ft. Pierce Jazz and Blues Society. Don was an arranging major at Berklee Col-lege of Music in Boston.

ST. LUCIE WEST — On Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. local youth will perform holiday classics on the stage of the Sunrise Theatre in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce. These students have been prac-ticing for months to be able to showcase their talents to the community. Performers are participants in

afterschool programs supported by the Children’s Services Coun-

cil of St. Lucie County. This year, performing programs are: Future Generations’ Drum Line, Parent Teen Community Connection, YMCA Hip Hop Dancers, Boys & Girls Clubs Glee Club, Future Generations’ Musicians and the Avenue D Boys and Girls Choirs. The event is supported by

WFLM 104.7 The Flame and WIRA The Light 1400AM. Tickets to the show are sold out. The Children’s Services Coun-

cil of St. Lucie County was

created and supported by the community in 1990. Since then, they have provided and sup-ported programs and resources for local families that focus on ensuring every baby is a healthy baby, preventing child abuse before it starts, keeping kids off the streets, keeping students in school and keeping youth away from drugs and alcohol. The Sunrise Theatre is locat-

ed at 117 South Second St., in downtown Fort Pierce.
