With Faith & Service, We SOAR
Dear St. John Families,
There have been many questions about what our
school day and instruction will look when school
opens on August 31. The Department of Catholic
Schools is developing a guidance document that we
will utilize. The state of reopening will be informed
by the Governor’s guidance and the current phase we
are operating under as we begin the new school year.
Our intent is to continue to provide the highest level
of instruction to our students.
Our next Principal Chat will take place on Tuesday,
May 26 at 7:00 pm. Thank you to all of the parents
who have sent questions or topics to address.
Our teachers are diligently planning our schedule
and activities for Race for Education/Olympic Day.
You will receive more details about times and
equipment needed early next week. There will be no
virtual instruction or academic assignments on that
day. You may drive by and pick up your t-shirt in
front of school on Tuesday, May 19 from 10:00 am-
3:00 pm.
As we evaluate instructional days for next year, our
calendar may be adjusted. What will not change are
our start and ending dates as well as Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and Easter break. Those dates are listed
at the end of the information section of our update.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Many blessings,
Mrs. Blake

Continuous Learning Schedule
Middle School
We will be following a schedule for online learning in ELA, math, science, social studies, Spanish, and
religion to make things more consistent and easier for our families to navigate. At this time the expectation
is that students are working every day in ELA and math. Science, social studies, Spanish, and religion
teachers are meeting with their classes once per week to check in and explain the weekly assignment which
will be due at their next scheduled weekly meeting.
Students will be expected to “attend” class at their scheduled time. This will allow teachers to set up online meetings or use discussion boards in real time. It will also allow students to ask questions as necessary. On Tuesdays and Thursdays ELA and math teachers will be available over Edmodo to respond to students' questions during their posted office hours.
