    Foraging expert visits Stillwater Public Library Sept. 12

    (STILLWATER, OKLA. / Aug. 21, 2013) Stillwater Public Library will host local

    foraging expert, Jackie Dill, in a program titled Wildcrafting Stillwater on Thursday,Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

    The program will focus on locating and harvesting the edibles, herbs and mushrooms thatgrow in the Stillwater area. Participants will learn which dishes and household products,

    like laundry soap, can be made with the foraged items. Dill will also explain how to

    locate material to use in crafting and share examples of the crafts she has constructed.

    Participants are asked to bring notebooks and writing instruments to the presentation.

    The library provides numerous resources on foraging and wildcrafting which areavailable for checkout. Some of the items include:

    Backyard foraging: 65 familiar plants you didn't know you could eat by Ellen

    Zachos covers identifying useful plants, harvesting etiquette and ways to prepare

    and eat the items found.

    unemployed food-journalism veteran featuring delicious recipes using foragededibles.

    virtues of filling the dinner table through hunting, fishing and foraging overlookedand underutilized wild foods.

    The wild table: seasonal foraged food and recipes by Connie Green helps

    readers identify numerous wild delicacies, and then provides step-by-step

    preparation and cooking techniques for many recipes, including several signaturedishes from noted chefs.
