    CarburetorSettingsforaStihlChainsawSCREW(H)CAUTION!Adjustmentofthehighspeedadjustingscrew(H)notonlyaffectsthepoweroutputbutalsothemaximumoff-loadenginespeed.Ifthesettingistoolean(screwturnedtoofarclockwise),themaximumpermissibleenginespeedwillbeexceeded.Thiscancauseenginedamage,broughtaboutbylackoflubricationandoverheatinginparticular.Correctionstothesettingofthehighspeedadjustingscrewmay

    becarriedoutonlyifanaccuratetachometerisavailabletocheckthemaximumenginespeedof13,000rpm(withbarandcorrectlytensionedchain).Whentheengineistestedatthefactorythecarburetorissettoobtainaslightlyrichermixturetoensurethatthecylinderboreandthebearingsreceiveadditionallubricationduringthebreak-inperiod.Thissettingshouldbeleftasitisforthefirstthreetankfillings.Thehighspeedadjustingscrewmaythenbeturnednomorethan1/4turnclockwise(leanermixture).Caution:Theenginesmaximumpermissiblerpmmustnotbeexceeded!Notethatevenslightalterationsontheadjustingscrewshaveanoticeableeffectontheenginesrunningbehavior.Onlycarryoutcarburetoradjustmentsaftercleaningtheairfilterandwarminguptheengine.Ifyouhavenomeansofcheckingthemaximumenginespeed,donotsetthehighspeedadjustingscrew(H)anyleanerbyturningit(clockwise)beyondthebasicsetting
