LATE SCRATCHINGS

RACE 3 WOW( 1 ) Vet’s advice. 10 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued. Trainer K Britton informed Stewards on presentation of the greyhound that WOW had not travelled well on the trip to the track, and that when emptied out on arrival, the urine was rather dark, with what she thought were traces of blood within. The greyhound was also down 0.6kgs down in weight, allaying Ms Britton’s concerns. The greyhound was examined by the on course vet who find mild lumbar soreness, with the decision then made to withdraw the greyhound.

A pre race sample is to be obtained from BEAU HERRERA – Race 11 No. 7

All winners tonight will be swabbed.

PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ), IT’S A FLIRT( 2 ), and NINJA QUEEN( 4 ), were all slow to begin. IT’S A FLIRT( 2 ) checked PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) at the first turn, causing PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) to lose ground and check NINJA QUEEN( 4 ), which also lost ground. Shortly after, IT’S A FLIRT( 2 ) was checked off the heels of JUST TERMS( 7 ), losing ground. PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) was checked off the heels of IT’S A FLIRT( 2 ) approaching the turn into the home straight on the first occasion, with PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) losing further ground. NINJA QUEEN( 4 ) was checked off the heels of PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ), soon after entering the home straight on the first occasion, also losing further ground. PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ), IT’S A FLIRT( 2 ), and ARIA’S THE ONE( 5 ), came together on the finish line. PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) was vetted with no incapacitation period imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer of PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ), regarding the greyhounds performance. Ms Drynan expressed her disappointment with the run, however advised PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) had trialled well in preparation for tonight’s race, and was vetted yesterday and given a clean bill of health. Ms Drynan further countered that she does not gamble, and had not supported the greyhound tonight. Stewards noted Ms Drynan’s comments, however notwithstanding had PEARL OF TAHITI( 1 ) locked away with a urine sample to be obtained due to the poor performance.
