Family, friends and fans of BethChapman gathered on the beach in Ho-nolulu on Saturday to pay respects tothe “Dog the Bounty Hunter” star.

Chapman died in Hawaii at age 51 af-ter being placed in a medically inducedcoma amid a battle with Stage 4 cancer, her husband and “Bounty Hunter” co-

star Duane “Dog” Chapman confirmedWednesday on Twitter.

The memorial service on the Fort De-Russy Beach in Waikiki, which wasopen to the public, honored Chapman’slife as she was “sent off in true Hawaiianstyle, with aloha,” family lawyer AndrewBrettler told USA TODAY.

Attendees were asked to bring“ocean-friendly loose flowers” ratherthan leis, because “the strings can be

harmful to ocean life,” Brettler added.According to Hawaii News Now, familyand friends paddled out into the water, another Hawaiian funeral tradition.

Fans were encouraged to share pho-tos and videos with the hashtag #AlohaOeMrsDog. Those in attendance,in addition to well-wishers from all overthe world, shared photos of sunsets overthe water and newly painted nails tohonor Chapman.
