Transcript of Steve Jobs: Jerk/Visionary/Marketing Guru ...and his most important lesson for us

It's easy to portray Steve Jobs as you want.

You'll find enough proof to support your every claim, no matter how

ridiculously it would be.

When they made Breakout for Atari, Jobs told Wozniak they'll get

$700. In reality, Jobs was paid $5,000 for the job, and kept $4,650

for himself.

You could say he was a jerk.

You could say he was an egomaniac.

Steve Wozniak was listed as Apple's Employee #1 and Steve Jobs was

Employee #2. Jobs felt offended, so he decided that he'll be Employee

Zero.

You could say he had no respect for

Bill Gates.

“I just think he [B.G.] and

Microsoft are a bit narrow. He'd be a

broader guy if he had

dropped acid once or gone

off to an ashram when

he was younger''

But also that they were good friends.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs occasionally went on "double dates" with their

women of the moment.

You could say he was a visionary.

In a 1993 interview, he arrogantly predicted the

exact state of the Internet, modern applications,

education development, and web servers practically to the

letter.

You could say he was a hero for many.

The Steve Jobs biography is one of the top 3 most

highlighted Kindle books, next to The Bible and The

Hunger Games.

But, if you look at Apple's financial performance, it becomes clear that first of all, Steve Jobs was a marketing genius.

Jobs cared even about what a customer feels when they're opening the box containing an Apple product. Even that feeling was designed by a dedicated team.

When he introduced the "Crazy Ones" advert, he said, "We need to be very clear what we want them (customers) to know about us". He believed that consumers are entitled to know who you are and what you are about.

That’s maybe the most important thing. It’s to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just gonna live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it.

“ “But, the most important lesson Steve

Jobs taught us, is that life can be molded.
